Ok that video was full of win. But yes, when he popped out of the lake I was like "What the hell?". Were they trying to go for a "Loch Ness Monster" effect? XD It seemed so similar, haha.

I really wasn't quite sure what they'd do about a Pokemon Boss/Villian, but Rayquaza seemed to work nicely judging from the footage. I can't wait to see what other bosses that have! And I'm hoping they're a bit more "obscure" so to speak, like Rayquaza and Petey Pirahna, as in not absolutely major plot devices.

*Unleashes pure speculation here* Maybe this shows that some of the bosses are being controlled by the Subspace Army? I mean...Rayquaza was never really EVIL so to say...

But back on topic, Rayquaza would and probably will be a really fun boss to fight!

Im sure Fox/Diddy will fight Rayquaza after a stage or two after their meeting. And its pretty cool because people have been pitching Rayquaza as a series boss for a while now. I always thought it was a brilliant way to implement the Pokemon outside a Pokeball appearance...

Rayquay + Boss status= UBER PWNAGE.

I can totally see it. Fighting on the O-Zone layer, he's rushing at you, then you need to double jump over him or he eats you alive. Then he flies to the side of the stage, opening his mouth to fire an Aura Sphere. Then, a Smart Bomb appears randomly on the stage. You have ten seconds to pick up the Smart Bomb and throw it into Rayquay's mouth. Otherwise, say goodbye to a stock.

Part of me wants to say no, he wont be a boss cause he was already defeated (quite easily I might add)
But another part of me says, well, why else would they introduce him in the video?

Regardless, I think this video confirms at least SOME KIND of pokemon to be a boss, wether its Rayquaza or not.

Hmm, for those confused about why Rayquaza attacked, may I propose a theory:

In Destiny Deoxys (a Pokemon movie), Rayquaza attacked Deoxys out of being territorial/protective when it arrived, so perhaps the same happened here?

I actually think that Fox's arwing, after falling through the skies from being downed by the Halberd, slammed into Rayquaza which fell into the lake. Diddy Kong, being separated from DK and hearing the crash, goes to investigate. He sees the Arwing and approaches, but Rayquaza rises from the lake in anger and attacks the already damaged Arwing in "vengeance". It grabs Diddy thinking he is involved with the Arwing, and we know what happens afterwards.

So I agree with the user that said that Rayquaza is probably confused about all this and was just defending itself. But, Sakurai refers to it as evil somehow, so it may also just be part of the Subspace Army...

Yeah, but Bowser's a douche, though. You can actually think of him doing that, especially to DK.

Anywho...maybe it's a captured Rayquaza, or maybe it's simply not the same Rayquaza. There's a myriad of answers possible for it...

But it's still F***ING AWESOME you get to fight Rayquaza! How much more win could it be to battle with an Uber Dragon Pokemon? And with Fox and Diddy no less!

It would be surprising if Rayquaza is also a Poke Ball Pokemon. Somehow, I think that Rayquaza encounter doesn't lead to a boss fight. In my view, Rayquaza fled after taking its own Dragon Pulse attack.

Read info on wikipedia about this pokemon sounds like PT's part in the Subspace army is about the 3 legendary pokemon having a war, but thats just a guess

remember rayquaza is a teritorial pokemon, the reason it attacks deoxys in his pokemon movie is because deoxys crashed through his O-zone layer. so deoxys probably attacked fox and diddy because they were in his territory. besides, with the SSE attacking, you gotta expect some people/pokemon to be a little jumpy. he probably thought fox and diddy were some of the attackers.

Rayquaza for a boss. My dream. AND a Pokeball. I mean, if Kyogre and Groudon are in it, then surely the third (AND COOLEST!) member of the trinity is in some random Pokeball, waiting to kill with some Dragon attack.

Wonder what this does for the chances of Dakurai or an evil trainer appearing as a boss. Considering Mewtwo will likely be a boss as well. Pokemon having three bosses seems a little farfetched. I can only see Mario getting three or four - Bowser, Petey, Bowser Jr and King Boo (and Kamek as a Yoshi boss).
