^^^ Yeah, like Bomberman. [/biased] >.>

At this rate, there's like a 90% chance we'll have a character named *something*-man. I dunno about Rayman... he has been around Nintendo here and there. I remember him having titles dating back to at least the N64. It just feels like other characters will be more likely.

Namco's been buddies with Nintendo for a while now, Pac-Man's there mascot, he is one of the most iconic video game characters there is, his game is extremley popular, the Pac-Man World games show he can have a move set, Miyamoto loves him, and he's had a few games on Nintendo systems too. So that's why I don't think Rayman should be in before him, happy?
Well then, I guess there's some info I didn't know. Yes, I am happy. I still like Rayman better though.

Rayman? Hmmm...

Well, I'll give him about 50%. I really don't care if I see him or not, to be honest.

Aww... I missed the vote on Tom Nook... I was looking forward to shooting his chances down... :chuckle:

Now let's see... Rayman... He does seem to be Ubisoft's de facto mascot, but I can't really say that Ubi is going to get any representation in SSBB, as it isn't as significant to Nintendo's history as other third-party companies... However, their tremendous support for the Wii may come into play (even if it is mostly just lousy ports...) and if they were quick to offer the character to Sakurai and Co., he just may have a chance. But then again, Ubi also seems to like the Prince of Persia quite a bit, not to mention the character is more widely recognised... So with that in consideration, I'd have to give Rayman a 35% chance.
(Personally, I'd like to see Jade of Beyond Good & Evil, but that isn't going to happen... :()

I nominate Mike Jones 5x.

not the move set itself, but the physics behind the character could be confusing. to the untrained eye, playing rayman could be confusing because it would look like hands and feet going flailing around all over the place. sakurai could make it look good if rayman got in though.
After playing his games I can tell you that it looks quite realistic, even if a bit weird at first. Your Concerns are quite understandable though.

Y'all may've noticed that I've been acting the part of Rayman's lawyer a bit. I'll try to stop.

I'll give Rayman fifteen percent. Ubisoft has supported the Wii quite a bit but Rayman wasn't really pivotal to the success of any Nintendo system and doesn't seem that popular.

Three for Crono and two for Lucas.

50%, he could go either way, with Ubisoft making many games on the Wii, and him not being an incredibly popular third party. Who knows.

I'll give Rayman 30%, he hasn't really been a big 3rd party asset to Nintendo. All I see going for him is the newer game, but the Rabbids kind of hogged the popularity a bit there.

Well this is a tough call. By my predications Sonic and Megaman will be 2 of the 3 third party characters but the 3rd.......Im not sure of. Rayman could be the third so Ill give him a 44%.

95% for Rayman. Come one, he's been on like every nintendo console, to me he's as popular as sonic (not to everybody, but he is at least as popular as megaman), and his last game was a Wii launch game. I see Sonic as the most popular 3rd party character, and Rayman after him. The only reason why Rayman shouldn't be in is because more Sonic characters might come in (why didn't anybody nominate tails or knuckles, I'm not gonna do it for you). And, this does matter a bit but not much, making a moveset for him shouldn't be too hard.

Tough call, he was in a Wii launch title, so I'm sure that boosts his chances against other 3rd party characters. Depends how many the developers want, and if they can workout arrangements with other 3rd party characters without a hitch. Very good move set possibilities, good fan base with recent games. After reflection I can give him 60%. He has higher chance than a few 3rd party’s but will he make the cut?

5 %. Since there are only 2-3 3rd parties going to be added and I believe those 2-3 will be Sonic, Megaman and Bomberman.

And lawrencelot rayman has had about 10 games for nintendo ( including multiple versions of the same game) where as bomberman has had about 30 and I don't believe he's as popular as you say

To those saying the there's gonna be 3 more third party characters, there isn't. Snake being one of them, there's only two more left. Chances are that's gonna be Sonic and hopefully Geno. (Cause I think Megaman's a ***, but that's my opinion.)

And rofl to the guy who nominated Spiderman. XD

10% It's just... not happening. I wish it was more than three third party characters, because then it wouldn't be such a forgone conclusion, but we need to get third party allastars out of the way first. Probably in a Smash Bros. 4, but no sooner.

#31-40: Sakurai starts by saying there wont be any manga characters. Then he begins talking about other companies characters to appear in the game. Among other things, Sakurai says that the character MUST have appeared on a Nintendo platform before. And to literally translate the last sentence (keep in mind this is in reference to the characters from other companies): "Anyways, at most we'll add another 1-2 characters [after Snake], maybe?"

Sakurai said it as a question, so it could still change. But now we at least have a ballpark of how many non-Nintendo chars will be added.
If this is where many of you are getting the ONLY 3 3rd parties fromyou misunderstood. I am yet again acting Rayman's Lawyer, but it also P1sses me off to see wrong information repeatedly posted, and uncorrected.

I don't see how people have understood. It clearly says that Sakurai is really only planning to add a couple more 3rd party characters, and while it's still tentative, I'm fairly certain that the maximum we get is 4 (5 would really be pushing it and will only happen if Sakurai is approached by several companies or he's planning to add around 50 characters or more IMO). The fact is space is an issue for 3rd party characters, and with 3 being the suggested maximum, of course people are going to prioritize.

That said, Rayman isn't that far fetched idea. I wouldn't say he's amongst the most popular of 3rd party characters, but he's still recognizable. He has had a launch title on the Wii itself, and while he is multi platform he has appeared a lot on Nintendo consoles. And he wouldn't be that hard to make a moveset for really, I'd say he'd be one of the easier 3rd party characters to implement. His only real problem is that there is a lot of competition for the 3rd party slot, and I personally don't think Rayman is one of the bigger contenders.

I really don't think that 5 is pushing it too much, but what I don't like is that they're acting as if 3 is the absolute maximum. I really think that 4-5 3rd parties will be added total, not 2-3.

I agree with Luke. His 3rd prty status is the only thing holding him back, but that's one of the worst things you can can be held back by. I'd say he has a pretty good chance, especially if they decide not to add Megaman.

So 50% seems right

Rayman!!! A sure fire hit, especially with the newfound support for Nintendo,
what with the new Rayman Raving Rabbids game being a 2D/3D platformer being DS EXCLUSIVE in the style of Klonoa, and the old RRR game being released almost half a year earlier on Wii.

70% Chance for Rayman.

I don't get all the excitement about Rayman... Am I the only one who thinks he's not likely at all? I don't think Raving Rabbids is so great that Rayman should be in Brawl... After all there are alot of 3rd party characters out there just as - if not more deserving. I'm giving him a 20% change of making it.

No, you're not the only one. But it's not just Raving Rabbids, it's his other games too.

And the fact that he'd have a sweet moveset that takes full advantage of his limblesness.

I'd say there's a %65 percent chance of Rayman making it into Brawl. He actually has moves and weapons that would translate well into Brawl. And as stated earlier, Ubisoft has a strong bond with Nintendo. So yeah, I think Rayman has a good chance.

a side note of creativity:
If Rayman does make it into Brawl, there better be a plunger gun weapon item from Raving Rabbids... it could like eat up a shield in three/four hits but have limited knock back and only six or seven shots.

WEll, Sakrai did say that tere would be two more in addition to Snake. (http://www.joystiq.com/2006/06/05/sakurai-reveals-new-smash-bros-brawl-details/_)

HOwever, I know as well as anyone else that what's said at one point in development isn't always the truth by the end of development, so why I am I clinging to this three maximum?

Well, for one thing, the legal issues are going to be quite the bother, so they probably only have time to manage two more additions from outside Nintendo. But also, three is kind of a magic number. IT's one of the numbers that people just stick to, and it makes sense that the firt time third-party characters are on a game, there will be three. It's a trinity, a prime number, simple, make a triangle, which is the strongest shape. It's a psychological thing. Trust me. Most importantly, three non-nintendo mascots can go against Mario this way.
