Ms. Pac-Man Alternate Costume:

Possible because it's a fairly popular request. However, we're practically guaranteed to get one of the modern designs as an alt for Pac-Man already. So we need to ask:

A: Are all characters getting special alternate costumes like Wireframe Mac?
B: If so, will the characters like Wii Fit Trainer and Wario who already have alternate costumes (Overalls Wario and Male Wii Fit Trainer) get a special one as well?

I give A a 75% chance of happening just because Wireframe Mac wasn't asked for at all. If he was one of the more asked for alts, I could see it being a case of only the more requested ones making the cut. But this leads me to believe that all (or at least most) characters are getting special costumes.

Then I'd give B a 66.66% chance of happening. It seems to me that the alternate designs like Wario's and Wii Fit Trainer's are given the same prestige that the default costumes are in that they have their own recolors. I think the special costumes are a whole other animal. They will have only their default colors and will probably be unlockable. Thus, I don't think having one will stop us from getting the other. However, I'm not positive of that. Simply more confident than not.

So that's a 50% chance of that. We then need to take that percentage and multiply it by how likely it is that Ms. Pac-Man would be the chosen costume and not something else. I'd say a good 80% chance.

So our total chance comes out to 40%

Honestly this isn't the same as Wii Fit Trainer and Villager:

• In Villager's case he/she is a generic avatar designed for one game and not really a stand alone character with his/her own traits, so the ambiguety of this character allow for having both genders without a real problem, since everything about the character can be determined by the player.
• In WFT's case we are talking about a generic in game trainer, which only purpose is to guide you, neither the male or the female have a unique feature like character to speak of, so making a opposite sex skin don't affect the character in general since, both don´t have a real identity to begin with.
• For PacMan is a different story PacMan has his own personallity and identity, the same can be said about Ms PacMan, they are two separated individuals, this might not be the best comparation but it's like expecting Marth to have a Lucina reskin because they share some traits to a more extreme example like Mario or Peach having female or male reskins for any given reasons, which don't make sense.

And in the case someone brings Dark Pit as an hypothetical pallete for Pit, Dark Pit is confirmed to be Pit's dark site, 2 halves of the same coin, so my point stands. Dark Pit even can't do anything while Pit is in the ring of chaos

Not to debate too much, but the absense of the hair makes it a Dixie inspired costume, not actually Dixie. That's a big difference. If it was a full Dixie Kong, it would be downright weird to see Diddy Kong's name on the bottom.
A Ms. Pac-Man inspired color palette is more likely, I think... but I don't think that was the aim of the rating. I think we're talking about a complete Ms. Pac-Man makeover.

Like Tekken, having a completely different character as a costume seems just like a disguise so they don't get bashed for putting clones in. I say you might as well just throw her in if you go through the same amount of effort for a costume.

This would be one of the easiest costumes to implement model-wise. Add in a bow, lipstick and mole and its done. Ms. Pacman is pretty significant to both Namco and Pacman alike. For every Pacman arcade machine, there was a Ms. Pacman machine. Also, with the PoTD today being the pink jogging suit for Little Mac, it makes me hopeful that this Pacman costume could be a reality.

We have so far only seen alternate costumes that involve clothing/aesthetic changes to the same character. The fact that we have yet to see any costumes in which the character poses as an entirely different character, hurts the chances of a Ms. Pac-Man alt. I'd like to see it, as it could open the door to others (Pichu/Raichu for Pikachu, Louie/Alph/President/Charlie/Brittany for Olimar, some Mega Man character for Mega Man etc), but ultimately, there is no evidence of that as of right now.

Today's pic of the day says everything, really: there's going to be a lot more alternates than before, and of all the potential alternate costumes out there, how many are as iconic as Ms. Pac-Man? Sure, she's technically a different character, which we can't rightly say about the likes of Villager and WFT, but I think that's a negligible concern when we're already allowing gender-swapped characters, never-mind that as a third-party character I'd say she's easily worth the special treatment (and possible extra announcer lines). Not a guarantee, but it feels very likely to happen.
Want - 100% - Maybe not my favorite alternate costume possibility (that'll be Lucina if Chrom's going to be in), but it's very high up there. Would be a shame if we can get male/female Villager and WFT but not Ms. Pac-Man to go with normal Pac-Man.

If you're not going to make a productive comment on the duo, then why did you nominate them in the first place?

When I played through Twilight Princess, I found it endearing how Ooccoo was consistently loyal and grateful towards Link. I also found it interesting that such a kind aid to the protagonist was given quite unattractive features, when traditionally such abnormalities are given to antagonists or enemies to represent the player's repugnance to their evil. I suppose this feature is what made the character so memorable. The Smash development team must agree since Ooccoo and Ooccoo Jr. were a trophy in Brawl.

To be honest, though, I mainly nominated them because I thought they were bizarre to the point of hilarity, and I wanted to see other people's reaction to the pair.

More alts is good, but I don't care about Pac-Man that much.

They are pretty similar, but unlike the other alts we've seen, they don't have the same identity. Villager is an avatar, you choose your villager's gender. WFT is a mannequin, and they're not really different characters. Other things like Wario's outfits, Little Mac's hoodie, etc. are just the same character in different clothes. Wire-Frame Mac almost could count since it's from the Punch-Out on the arcade, which did not feature Little Mac. But while giving him transparency makes him more complicated than a typical palette swap, he still has the same shape, making him more like the Dark Link palette swap.

Pac-Man and Ms Pac-Man are separate characters and have appeared together. Sakurai hasn't yet done an alt like that, and he made comments in the past that it wouldn't be doing justice to the characters. Then again, clones don't do a lot of justice either (see especially: Ganondorf). So it's possible, but less likely than palette swaps, alternate outfits, or gender swaps for avatar-type characters.

Ms. Pac-Man was actually MORE successful than her husband. An alt for the girls would be fine with me providing they remember to add 'Ms' and change the model enough to include her iconic bow, beauty mark, lipstick and high heels.
