Ragnell Rising- An Ike Compilation Video

Ragnell Rising is an Ike compilation video highlighting Captain Lutzburg's friendlies and tournament matches from Brawl's release until November of 2008. A lot of editing and music synchronization went into this movie, all of it done by hand using Pinnacle Studio 10 software. The theme of this particular piece was to set a faster, more intense experience than my previous efforts in "Divinatory Influence", a Ness combo video from over the Summer. The opening and closing of the movie are a direct parody of the cartoon "The Venture Brothers", using the shows opening and credit sequences as direct inspiration for the editing used. I am very satisfied with the end result, including the footage, the editing, and the musical selection.

Clips used showed opponents at equal or par experience and skill, and range from crew matches, friendlies, random Wi-Fi, and tournament matches. Quality of the video is very nice, watching in High Quality isn't a must but it will definitely look prettier. As always, The Three Cs- comments, critiques, and criticisms, are always welcome.

Sorry but this is pretty bad. There is a lot of stupid **** in this like you charging up attacks and your opponents running into them. Doesn't even show good mindgames, just your opponents sucking.

Highlight video for a reason... they are suppose to make player/character look better than they really are... Unless you're watching a video for MK *cough*.

Thank you very much for the defense, Kinzer. As I wrote recently in a comment on Youtube, A highlight video, especially of a character with the moveset and nature of Ike's play style, can be incredibly tough to portray. If Ike could get 15+ hits off in a few seconds leading into an epic 20 second edge game battle, those would definitely be in there. As it is, Ike's game is more about waiting for the right moment; at least for me anyhow.

Yes I realize, and these highlights are unimpressive. Watching his opponents walking into his attacks is boring. I'd suggest next time you have more stringed together attacks to make it more interesting.

lol quoted for not making sense

if you can show me a way to string together attacks using Ike with an unhacked version of brawl other than using jab cancels, then I will be thoroughly impressed by your amazing above M2K capabilities

Videos like that with Ike don't exist. This is brawl BTW, only combos you'll see, are like... nah screw it, there are either too few to remember, or too many small ones to recall. It's mostly mindgames, which you'll notice in all Brawl "combo"/highlight videos. That's exactly what's going on in these clips btw.

Is the sad truth, it is.

Edit: D***, I'm too slow.

What? I don't even get what you are saying. Let me explain what I meant then. He should have clips of more comboish things. That does NOT mean he is doing real combos. It means he is tricking his opponent into going into grabs, attacks etc. This may sound contradictive to what I stated earlier, and I agree, but it's not quite. I am saying watching his opponents run into 1 strong attack is boring, however watching his opponents run into a lot of attacks looks impressive, especially if it's done intelligently, and is reasonable for the opponents to be tricked.

this is IKE we are taking about, the he knocks them away very very far. he had several attacks and then got people to fall into the kill shot. that was how it was done. have you ever seen a video for any character where an opponent got comboed by repeatedly running into attacks against a heavy character?

Why are you even arguing with me? I've seen better ike videos than this, there isn't anything to argue about. It's fine that you liked watching people running into a fully charged eruption, or fsmash, or usmash, but I didn't so just stop, it's dumb.

I'm in agreement with everything Alphican said. The 'highlights' were not very impressive overall.

It just...wasn't very entertaining to watch. I stopped less than half way through. :/

You had some okay kos in the beginning, but later on your opponents namely the Marth (mag?) made some terrible move decisions even for a "highlight" video. Who rolls into Ike's forward smash when you're near the edge when you could easily roll back and punish it? I didn't really get to listen to it, not an option in my current area, but the clip transitions could have been a bit better. Like showing the "Game" ending sequences in part of your clip after the combo had been finished. Just the extra black space in general was also another needed trimming.

I sadly agree as well. It's kind of comparable to watching a Zelda compilation video of just Lightning kicks, it's just not very enjoyable.

I was going to say a C.Falcon highlight video of just Falcon Punches, but that would be enjoyable =]

As for the rolling into the forward smash, watch very closely and you will see that he started the forward smash at the exact same moment that I inputted the dodge roll. I didn't even have a chance to see it starting up. Also, keep in mind that the particular clip was on wi-fi.
