I'm not at all good at organizing tournaments, but I think getting Smashfests going should be easy. I plan on trying to get R3M2 and AG to run alternatively on a bi-weekly schedule, like the 1st Saturday of each month would be for the tournament and the 3rd Saturday of that month is for my Smashfests.

Well, actually, FACE is in charge of R3M2 if residence hall staff would ever respond to him. >_>

Also, if no one's doing any Halloween stuff on Saturday October 30, Smashfest? Or I can change it to Saturday November 30. Either day I'm thinking of hosting Smashfests from 6 or 8pm to midnight. I've been recruiting a few new Smashers and they seem to have some good potential.

Yesterday the residence hall staff, university's video game club, and I organized a Melee tournament where we got 14 players to show up, 10 of which were new players who probably don't even know about Smashboards. A lot of them want me to make a tournament for Brawl before the semester ends (Dec 17). Would any of you all be interested? I could really use all the help I can get for setups and hype.

However, because the university doesn't like gambling, I don't think we can make this a tournament with standard payouts. Also, a $5 entry fee would scare away those potential new players. We can't easily hand out money as prizes since a university club is associated with this event. Last tournament's prizes where snacks I bought form a 7-11; 12 pack case of Sierra Mist, 2 liter bottle of Mountain Dew, big bag of Sun Chips, etc. I might repeat the same idea unless someone can offer any new ideas.

You won't mind if I try to make this event focused on the new players, right?

*chuckles* i ain't THAT confident in dj.

it'll be closer than one would probably initially assume though, being that as of present, dj isn't even ranked here in NC.

LOL I kinda wish we had melee md/va rankings for the fun of it... everyone says this region isn't serious but there is a lot of drive nowadays.

I just ordered a new capture card!!! expect mad new videos next week, and a TR combo video in the near future.

Anyone want a free-play Melee tournament on Saturday, February 5th? It's free to make it easier to introduce new players to the tournament scene of Smash Brothers. Entry fees are a bit of a barrier to new players
