hi
Does anyone thing this is a good offensive move?
A short-hopped Luca can use Psi Magnet in an instant, and remove it even sooner.
With no begining and ending lag, would this be a good offensive move?
And me thinks it kills at 90%

Disagree

Psi Magnet has more startup lag than most of us give us credit...it will probably only work on a smart opponent once or twice, until they learn to either beat it with a jab or just shield it leaving you with a bit of ending lag as well for them to punish with a grab, etc.

The range is also a bit smaller than it looks.

However, it is true that it is a viable kill option: especially on characters with bad horizontal recoveries or levels with very short sides. The trajectory of the attack is so great against some characters that past 90-100% they will probably get killed given it's not stale.

And if you stale the magnet well.
That's one stupid Lucas.
Lol

You could use it if you had it up and they start rushing you, just release when they go into it, some of the people I brawl don't know lucas' PSI magnet deals damage and KB.

And 10chars = fad/way to post without getting the message "post too short"

I'm sorry but i strongly disagree with using this method. Most characters have an approach attack with a range far beyond the psi magnet release attack's range

I think it's a great KO move, but only when kept fresh and only in certain situations; It's got the fourth best knockback of Lucas' attacks, after F-Smash, D-Smash, and U-Smash, and is only two frames slower than F-Smash. F-Smash has better knockback and is faster than PSI Magnet, so it seems to be an all-around better move than PSI Magnet, but PSI Magnet can be a better choice when you need to KO from a slightly further range by short hopping then hovering just barely over the ground and releasing it. It probably shouldn't be used as often as his other KO options, but there are certain times when you need that little bit of range that PSI Magnet gives you.

No. Just because it comes out faster than the stick does not mean it's anywhere near as useful. You're completely ignoring the fact that there is NO HITBOX until the instant that it deactivates. This means your entire body is exposed until that time leaving you completely vulnerable to any attack. Not to mention the hitbox on it is very small. Lucas's Fsmash hitbox covers most of his body as he's swinging and can even hit opponents behind you. The magnet on the other hand is a tiny little spot in front of you that only comes out for a very short amount of time unlike his Fsmash which lasts a bit. Having decent, not even extraordinary, knockback is not what makes a move good. We can all sit around trying to use Ganondorf's Utilt because it has great knockback but meanwhile you're sitting there completely vulnerable waiting for that one hit. Please stop being stupid. The only reason for using this move is maybe against predictable recoveries if for some reason you feel like messing around with it rather than Bair spiking. I never even bother with it unless I'm playing someone who sucks to mess with their head. Oh and if someone doesn't know the psi magnet deals damage then they're probably dumb enough that you shouldn't need it to bother with it to beat them. Please, please, please stop being so nooby.

It is definitely not nooby to use this move as an attack, it is a great way to switch things up and you will hit with it on occasion if you are smart with it. And despite what certain flamers have to say, you aren't dumb or nooby, that was definitely a legit question.

Tyr, it's your best KO option in the air, and wavebouncing it catches people offguard whether they know that it hits or not.

Also, it does HIT on frame 16, not activate.

It's not a great move, but situationally, it is useful.

Bair is your best KO option in the air.

I still stay with situational at very best.

^^^ It's awesome, just hard to get used to at first since to spike you need to hit with the last hexagon. I know people who don't even know that it spikes well.

Back to the topic, IMO Psi magnet is only good to catch people off guard.

^ this

maybe if you know your opponent is going to use a slower projectile you can ram it with this instead of your shield by short hopping, then land next to him and release for punishment.

epic lol
not that this will work often.

but when it does your opponents hang their heads and feel like the stupidest things ever.
trust me i know ;)

PsiM can kill... just not as well as the stick.

If you've overused the f-smash and it is stale, than PsiM might be worthwhile on the ground.

In the air, over the stage, its a reasonable KO move imo. Off stage you can use it to position yourself for a bair.

SH Psi-M... nah, not ideal.
