I'm pretty sure this is the reason that Captain Falcon (and the majority of the KI cast) haven't been done yet. Humans are hard to draw.

It's not bad. For comparisons sake, Kirby (the highest ranking) got 135 votes, Mario got 127, Pit got 103, Ness got 96, Marth got 87, Mr. Game and Watch got 77, Jigglypuff got 62, and Sandbag got 59.

Essentially, we're making Sakurai a virtual card with artwork of characters that he's worked with and signatures of his fans. If you would like to give a signature, you need to either scan one or make a virtual one. If you can't, then you can be added to the "non-signers" list, which will add your name separately from the signers.

Hades is actually one of the best characters for anyone to choose, since he has absolutely no artwork right now. I'd go for it.
