Well like I said, the game is plenty more fun now. I suggest giving it a shot at least, if not you can just bounce. It's no biggie.

Watching vids of Smash 4 Ike and thoughts are all:

-Why does Side B hit in the air still put him in special, are you dumb Sakurai
-Why does Aether go nowhere again
-Why does hitting someone not sound like hitting someone with a telephone pole
-Why why why is QD gross in general still

I don't think I should have expected Ike to get enough good changes to outshine the perfection that is PM Ike, but **** it. Shulk it is.

My thoughts exactly. Either shulk or back to my good old lucario brawl moveset days.

I worried about the color pallet swaps for teams again.
I still can't tell the difference very fast between the team colors of Sonic, Lucario, and pacman.

Its almost like sakurai assumes people don't like to play at the same character, and dont play doubles, even casually.

Oh wait, he doesn't care about us.

That helps and certainly a lot of the clothed characters have really distinct team colors now, but I still find it stupid that Bowser was outright given skin color palette changes this time around and they refuse to do the same for others like him (aka Sonic and Lucario, who also had this issue in Brawl).

Yes, but in its own way that makes it kind of strange. Holding down to reduce knockback is also weird: crouch cancelling or holding down on the ground makes sense, but that idea working in the air is something I can't fathom to explain. At all. Rolls generally being buffed? Not even considering the competitive implications for buffs or nerfs, just why would you want to mess with those?

Some stuff makes a whole lot of sense though. I guess it's the thought that they had enough concern over edge mechanics and other balance concerns, that they decided to broaden their scopes and jetted out in a bunch of directions to tweak stuff. Like look at new jabs: Sakurai wasn't fond of the prior Smash "poon" versions with only weak hits and decided to add finishers. What a beast

Also, what the **** is MK's new Shuttle Loop. What is that? I have never seen an airborne object move in such a way. He's like a gnat on steroids! Somebody stop this man

To be real, I only want bravely default, fire emblem and maybe the legend of Zelda game. Pokemon is whatever's to me.

Might save the money for like a wiiu or some ****

I'm still disappointed that gliding was cut, it was a really cool mechanic. As a casual player and a competitive.

Are we actually sure about blast zones, and aren't being fooled by knockback differences between games (not just distance, but mechanics of how you drift away)? Gravity after hits may kick in more/stronger than previously encountered, and let people live longer with the same blastzones. Upward hits may feel about the same or stronger, while horizontal/diagonal ones get "dragged" to more favorable curved angles and paths. We also have downward DI/momentum cancelling in, which would likely throw off horizontal kills more as well (if you Upb or Uair as a finisher higher up, you're probably going to kill fairly soon regardless of mechanic differences. Compared to grounded Smash finishers or SH aerials that kill)

Idunno man, it feels like people are sitting way out in blast zones before returning to the stage and I think the level of awareness of DI-Down is pretty low currently.

Again, that could be because of stronger gravity or curving knockback paths, not necessarily huge blast zone increases. My theory sounds plausible, since we mostly see horizontal kills take forever and not upward kills. I would 100% not be surprised if Sakurai was lazy, kept blastzones the same, and the only difference is some janky new flight paths/mechanics.

If I were you I would hold off until the New 3DS, unless you find yourself a great deal.
I mean, if you absolutely can't wait to play the games you want to play... but I would hate to buy a 3DS now knowing there's a new upgraded model hitting shelves in a few months for the same price that a 3DS costs now.

IF the new 3ds even comes out.

Since the 2ds came out as a cheap alternative here, I have some nagging doubt in my mind that the new 3ds won't come out here.

If villager goes to the edge, stand onstage and edge snap it from him.

Characters "lag" on the edge just like in Brawl. When you initially grab the edge, there's a decent window that you can't move. At all. No attacking, rolling, dropping off, anything. During that time, in Smash 4, people can steal it from you and you are forced to get off. You can't prevent it. After that, it looks like some characters can then drop off and Bair as a punishment to that hogged character

I can't seem to be able to punish after stealing the edge, the lag is so short they just upB away.

What char are you using? I ask since I haven't seen it with a large # of characters. I just know that Sethlon is getting very consistent at that, and makes it look inescapable as Lucina + possibly Robin. He will let people snap the edge, take it from them, and get a free (appears free at least) Bair
