They didn't go overboard, they just did an awful job of scaling the opponent's levels to reflect the way it works now.

Remember when we talked about Zelda for like a page or two. Those were good times.

The way EXP Share is done is great, it's just that none of the game is scaled to it at all (well, and the E4 and Champion are both jokes). Problem with ST is that the payouts are not going to match the speed of Pokerus + Macho Brace, which is still stupid. What should have been done is that you assign an amount of EVs to ST your pokemon and then just make it take all of a few minutes to do. Having to reset then spend an hour+ of repetition is booooooring.

Super Training is fine for being able to train right from the start of the game, and before you have access to the Power items.
Once you have Power items + Pokerus though it's silly fast to just do a few horde battles with Sweet Scent. 50-60 EV's from one horde battle is pretty crazy. You can get a fully EV'd Pokemon in a few minutes.

I have a question regarding the brawl community:

http://smashboards.com/threads/whob...h-2013-houston-tx.341493/page-5#post-15943913

are they usually this... insane

Okay so I read that, and read SB's post a little ways below

SB why would you do that. Why would you not treat them the same way you treat melee purists who complain nonsensically about the game for equally stupid reasons. You were all nice and understanding about that guy's complaints. He doesn't deserve anymore respect in response to his "Sonic:M sucks because it's not Brawl Sonic" than anyone that complains that "Project:M sucks because it's not Melee". I don't know why but it's legitimately upsetting that you legitimately weren't upset.

in the same thread: someone says they couldn't win on the singular basis that the crowd was "too offputting"

I want to sincerely hope that this is just the section of the brawl community that still wants MK banned

I love how the complaint about EVERY GAME EVER RELEASED that has some kind of community-type following that somebody didn't like ALWAYS has to include this one thing either beside the main point or AS the main point
"The community sucks"
I hear that from TFG players who dislike smash, from melee players who dislike brawl, from anyone that dislikes CoD, anyone that dislikes pokemon, anyone that dislikes any of the major console producers (nintendo, sony, or microsoft), anyone who dislikes competitive gaming, and now, from brawl players who dislike P:M

it's almost like people have a ****ing terrible ability to separate their feelings for something from people who like that something

man, I'm the one who has to defend brawl on here

but that stuff's just. numbingly silly. like the post I showed probably isn't even the most obsessively mad over this, it's just the funniest

But when you're reading those posts, you tend to see this little banner below their name that says "Brawl Backroomer" and everything's OK.

Srsly, though. Sit down with the damn game and try it. I hate how Bowser and DK were **** in Melee, but I still played them because it was fun and I liked the characters. Sonic is still good, and it shows that Brawl players are accustomed to the Spin-2-Win paradigm of playing Sonic. Learn the damn character, play the damn matchups, and feel good knowing that by doing that, you're a better player at the end of the day.

you're confusing me for someone who sees this:
Don't you ever dare have the ****ing audacity of thinking you and your Project M flunkies know how Sonic should ever be played.
Especially not to me.
and looks at it with a straight face

that topic is fascinating, less in any serious way and more in the way that I consider a particularly strange looking insect fascinating

Outset Link Render. looks freaking great if you ask me, I can't wait to use it, as Pik's old Outset link Vertex was one of my favorite mods to use, and this just blows that one out of the water.

We can't be condescending though. That just keeps people from understanding each other and joining the community. No matter how strong a gaming community is, it will either disappear or move over to a different game after a period of time. With that in mind, I don't think that the Smash community can afford losing members because of a divide between the subsets of a larger group. Smash, as a community, hasn't been this big since 2006, the last year Melee was played on the MLG circuit. Despite its current success, however, I fear that Smash is in a more precarious position than it appears. I feel that the release of Smash 4, when combined with the eventual retirement of today's biggest Melee stars, will seriously endanger the community as a whole, not just Melee players.

When both of these things happen, people will have three options: play Smash 4, continue to play Melee, or play PM. At the moment Smash 4 looks to be considerably better than Brawl was from a competitive standpoint. Because of this, I feel that most Brawl players, and a few Melee players, will move on to Smash 4. Almost no one will be getting in to Melee, and only a few will come in to PM. In order to withstand this dearth of new players, I think it's incredibly important that Melee and PM try to expand themselves as much as possible before Smash 4 comes out. Things like getting in to EVO will only be useful as long as the Melee community takes advantage of it.

Maintaining this split between Brawl, PM, and Melee is not going to be healthy in the long run, so I think it would be wise to take the high road when others complain about the game you love, regardless of which game you play.

Personally. I say drop it. It's not worth thinking about or being interested in. All your doing is drawing unwanted attention.
I know when to sit back, d/w

texas is filled with... about as much of an unhealthy amount of very weird people as I kind of expected tbh

I prefer not to put stock in threads with pointless ranting in it. Focus on the people in productive discussions and leave the rest behind.

Also, good ****. Looks like he was built by the original team practically and I think it's safe to assume no bones were modified unlike the original (which was pretty hard to do without modding them).

Well... if we are going to speculate... the brawl community had to grow up under the hostile gaze of the melee/smash community. To then have their game be gutted and reassembled in melee's image may feel like their preferences are implicitly being criticized. Maybe it is that their foundation, the game itself, is being desecrated, similar to how people take offense to flags or copies of religious texts being burned.

I never spent any real time in the brawl community, so I doubt I will ever understand how br or unity rulest committee members can thrash around in such a spectacular manner on the web.

As long as P:M keeps accepting others and updating itself, its growth will know no bounds.

It's how I responded to melee purists for a long time. Gotta be fair to both communities.

I apologize for nothing

the kind of person who puts effort into "traps" (read: very obsessive needs for reactions painted as something far more clever for damage control) is not the kind of person I put much care into having as a community

I'm sure there's perfectly fine people in the brawl community, and they can come and go as they will; but people like that are harmful to anything reasonably resembling a healthy scene and I'm perfectly okay with keeping them out thank you

and I'm questioning its very concept that this somehow justifies it

the idea of obsessing over the reaction someone gives you to the point of not caring about any side-effect to that is unhealthy, but the internet loves to fetishize very unhealthy things

Does the Melee community hate us that much too? Cause I like all three communities equally, but admittedly I haven't spent the longest time in the other two as much PM.

I strongly agree with this post. Nevertheless, their rudeness that they give this game is a bit unsettling to be honest.

The haters usually make the most noise. Other smashers have no reason to dislike project M, and those that do will likely be swayed by the release of Roy and Mewtwo.

Ok, so, seriously, where are the PM Singles matches from last week's Bar Fights or whatever tournament? I saw doubles only then Melee came on and I was like, no. I would like to see what happened.

I doubt entire communities hate us. it's pretty much saying that everyone here is a smug prick because I can personally be a smug prick

again, even before me, there were people questioning a lot of the stronger mentalities in that thread. there's likely good people in most communities, it's just that rainbows and sunshine can very easily seem non-existent when the worst of the worst seems incredibly overwhelming

My opinion, for what it's worth, is that the Melee community views PM as a viable alternative to Melee. They are fine with what they have, however, so they are not too excited in playing PM seriously. They are open-minded about PM as a whole, but not all that interested in it.

Brawl, on the other hand, may feel as if the game they left is trying to force itself back on to them. For them, Melee was a game they either didn't play or left because of something Brawl offered that Melee did not. For them, PM is just an attempt for Melee fans to extend the life of the game the Brawl players left. Although for most of them this is not a bad thing, for some it is a genuinely frustrating and upsetting because they feel like Melee fans are trying to erase the game they love.

Lmao this results thread is hilarious.

Xyro is not even trying to hide his baits and Seagull and Espy are just blacklist material, so you have the obligation to NOT take them seriously.
Not kidding here, if you ever feel the need to address the content of their post just alt+F4, because nothing good will ever come out of it.

Edit : also heard you guys like Brawl combo Videos
