Ok, so, I don't know where else to ask this, and I assume it won't even work anyway, but I may as well.

So, I REALLY want to turn off tap-jump. I hate it. I only deal with it because I have to. I keep it on because I really like being able to do Up-B/Usmash out of shield, as well as easily do jump cancelled grabs by sliding the control stick up right before I press Z. Is there anyway that I can have it set up so the controller can recognize that I'm doing an upwards input that counts for everything minus the actual jump (the only thing I don't want to do)?

JC anything is actually cancelling the Jump squat, so I'm not sure if that's possible. I wonder if they could have "modifiers" for such things like that, for one of the analogs a person doesn't use like "R". Holding it would disable/enable tap jump.

no, there is no way to do that with the control editor

One of my friends had this problem (he plays G&W), so he got around it by C-sticking up with the lower part of his thumb (where the thumb bone joins the palm) while shielding to jump and then pressed up+B normally. It seemed odd to me, but it's really worked out for him.

That's interesting. And it might solve the Up-B problem, but I still wanna be able to jump cancel my grabs with up (because X/Y are too out of the way for me).

I know, I know. If only, haha. :(

Yeah, the far left person sitting there. That's the most recent publicly view-able video of me playing, good find.
Kind of old, but nostalgic and fun to watch at least. Awesome that you found it too. I only ever PM that to people when they're really nagging to know if I even play the game/exist. :p
I came out of an almost 2 year hiatus to bring him to NY, so it's amazing it exists at all, and it's been helpful. Enjoy! :D

EDIT: LMAO
I just watched the Hustle 3 Draft Crew battles too if you wanna see me play!
That was the REAL return-to-smash for me, and it was a blast! I went to his region to pick him up for that NY trip, and joined that event on the weekend just before catching the plane. Some of the funnest games I've ever played, literally all of us just laughing our heads off, some of the funniest people in the community facing off, with hilarious people commentating, it was great! That crew battle was the epitome of casual-competition Smash for me. So much incredible fun with a bunch of great friends. Ah, traveling for Smash will have to be done sometime soon I think. It's too good!
<3

Ediedit: Watch Draft Crews 7 + 8 for even older and scrubbier play!
I'm loving this! So nostalgic and hilarious! XD
I think that's it for videos of me in publicly view-able places... The entirety of it. Figure might as well have direction to find it all since the videos posted above are over 1/3rd of the available 'me playing' content. Someone will enjoy it I'm sure. That's for linking it Oro?!, good memories are good. :)

Just to add, we're probably going to be streaming starting around 2 PM CST after we come back from lunch.

Also, Ike seems more fun than Charizard at the moment... I'll probably be playing him a lot more often for the time being.
Sad to hear it. Not for dislike of Ike, but rather for like of Charizard. I get awesome inspiration and ideas from your Zard play.

In other news, I pissed both of my friends off today with Zard. They were complaining that they couldn't get out of his stun (Saying his moves' hitstun were longer than other characters), complaining about his nair (That it powers through everything like a truck and has amazing range), and complaining about him being a brainless character that requires no thought and that's why I was good with him. Their insults hurt, but it also felt good because it meant that my play was good enough to make them mad.

But this leads to a question: are there aspects of Zard you find unfair or cheesy, or are my friends just needing to learn the match-up better? (For reference, one is a PM Mario/Peach main has been playing for as long as me (Melee around 3 years competitively and much longer than that casually), and another is a newer (Just PM started this summer) player I'm training who is a Toon Link main. I argue Mario is one of Zard's hardest match-ups, but the Mario main is insistent that it's in Zard's favor.

this is my favorite complaint. I play with a (kinda nooby) player that started with brawl who hates the lack of hitstun canceling and claims you can't do anything when you get hit. He also hates that melee's airdodges make you helpless, but I just have a hard time giving any of his complaints their well deserved counter arguments when he says that tripping is good. "It stops you from just barreling in and attacking aggressively!" To which I usually counter by dash dancing an obscene amount while he barrels in as if to prove his point, and when he fails for being way too incautious I respond "that does the same thing without being ****ing stupid."

He plays with a wiimote

pmbr please add back the "FAILURE..." SFX to wiimote selections

I will forever miss the FAILURE Wii Remote SFX. Best worst feature.

I actually had a discussion about some aspects feeling really silly about him, not long ago.
It was with...
This guy!
The conclusion was that it was only silly in specific situations (D-smash vs Spacies was the specific example), but he seems to have 'silliness' against everyone specifically 'somewhere' (if it's not D-smash, it's something else), and overall as well.

Though... how does he bypass this/how would he be changed otherwise? It's in character (BIG DRAGON) and in game-play, it's necessary to have this niche of character (like Dedede filling the linear Troll niche for example)

Edit: I'm gonna have to do that 'record vids for the sake of nostalgia' and keep-sake them for years, after watching those vids and reading the previous page about this type of thing. Too good.

Yeah dude, I love old videos no matter how scrubby they are. Never forget where you come from bro. Also I talk with Sion all the time, used to do it daily, so glad you are in with the homie. :)

Watching vids of my old crew literally makes me wanna cry. All those good memories with people who really don't play the game anymore.

When we closed the stream tonight, 330 our time, their were people on the East coast who stayed up with us. It was 630 in the morning for them. Then you had some people in stream chat say they were from Finland or the UK... we're all brought together by this game, it's really amazing.
