JC anything is actually cancelling the Jump squat, so I'm not sure if that's possible. I wonder if they could have "modifiers" for such things like that, for one of the analogs a person doesn't use like "R". Holding it would disable/enable tap jump.Is there anyway that I can have it set up so the controller can recognize that I'm doing an upwards input that counts for everything minus the actual jump (the only thing I don't want to do)?
no, there is no way to do that with the control editorOk, so, I don't know where else to ask this, and I assume it won't even work anyway, but I may as well.
So, I REALLY want to turn off tap-jump. I hate it. I only deal with it because I have to. I keep it on because I really like being able to do Up-B/Usmash out of shield, as well as easily do jump cancelled grabs by sliding the control stick up right before I press Z. Is there anyway that I can have it set up so the controller can recognize that I'm doing an upwards input that counts for everything minus the actual jump (the only thing I don't want to do)?
nooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooAlso, Ike seems more fun than Charizard at the moment... I'll probably be playing him a lot more often for the time being.
One of my friends had this problem (he plays G&W), so he got around it by C-sticking up with the lower part of his thumb (where the thumb bone joins the palm) while shielding to jump and then pressed up+B normally. It seemed odd to me, but it's really worked out for him.Ok, so, I don't know where else to ask this, and I assume it won't even work anyway, but I may as well.

Sad to hear it. Not for dislike of Ike, but rather for like of Charizard. I get awesome inspiration and ideas from your Zard play.Just to add, we're probably going to be streaming starting around 2 PM CST after we come back from lunch.

this is my favorite complaint. I play with a (kinda nooby) player that started with brawl who hates the lack of hitstun canceling and claims you can't do anything when you get hit. He also hates that melee's airdodges make you helpless, but I just have a hard time giving any of his complaints their well deserved counter arguments when he says that tripping is good. "It stops you from just barreling in and attacking aggressively!" To which I usually counter by dash dancing an obscene amount while he barrels in as if to prove his point, and when he fails for being way too incautious I respond "that does the same thing without being ****ing stupid."They were complaining that they couldn't get out of his stun (Saying his moves' hitstun were longer than other characters)
I actually had a discussion about some aspects feeling really silly about him, not long ago.But this leads to a question: are there aspects of Zard you find unfair or cheesy, or are my friends just needing to learn the match-up better? (For reference, one is a PM Mario/Peach main has been playing for as long as me (Melee around 3 years competitively and much longer than that casually), and another is a newer (Just PM started this summer) player I'm training who is a Toon Link main. I argue Mario is one of Zard's hardest match-ups, but the Mario main is insistent that it's in Zard's favor.
The conclusion was that it was only silly in specific situations (D-smash vs Spacies was the specific example), but he seems to have 'silliness' against everyone specifically 'somewhere' (if it's not D-smash, it's something else), and overall as well. This guy!
