So it lessens the possibility of doing an accidental f-tilt (or dash attack)? Anything else beneficial?
Have you noticed the off-ness when attempting to do another aerial in the air with it? It has to be in neutral before doing another aerial or else jamming it will never get the aerial out. Also that seems to apply when I try to CC d-smash, where you'll likely to jam it to make sure you get it (and thus it won't trigger).
Do you have or are considering mapping a button/trigger to footstool?
Nope, I've never really had a problem with it doing aerials successively, but then again I've never tried inputting aerials without setting it back to neutral. I also don't really CC counter with the C-stick so I haven't had that problem either. I've changed R to Footstool on my Wii, but I never use it.

I've had to take out like 20,000 in loans so far but I'm awful at getting motivated for anything that isn't smash so I kinda have failed like 3 semesters of classes and I really want to learn to program so I can physically develop the game(s) I've mentally developed for years now but I don't know how to convert desire into motivated teeth gritting action and now I don't know what to do anymore
The worst part is that my parents don't know any of this despite being my cosigners and having put up a fair share of resources to occasionally help me buy food gas books etc.

So I've kind just been shutting it all out with smash lately

I'm more concerned about getting a job atm... I walked last sunday, getting my diploma officially in June... and it's kinda like "now what?" for me.

As for @ DrinkingFood DrinkingFood : get your **** in gear man, I just went though and became a certified programmer, you can do it.

I am already part of City of Titans, which is one of the world's first Indy MMO's (more info here: http://cityoftitans.com/ and https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/missingworldsmedia/the-phoenix-project-city-of-titans), but that doesnt have revenue yet...

Would probably look great on my resume though hmmm

but now, sleep time

*goes to work on Explorers of the SKy instead*
Ah yes, the spiritual successor to city of heroes.

We talked about that quite a few months ago. I still wish you the best of luck in that.

And yes. If by explorers of sky you mean mystery dungeon then 10/10

Greetings! Here is some REALLY IMPORTANT TIME SENSITIVE INFORMATION. WATCH THIS VIDEO AND/OR READ BELOW! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LJHZj5w83vg

It has to do with us being able to continue to play Wifi on custom servers after Nintendo Wifi shuts down but we HAVE TO ACT BEFORE THE 18th if you don't want to have to create a new fc and add all of your current friends again.

Just enter your friend code including the (-) between numbers and for GameID the code of the game which in this case would be RSB* for SSBB. You are going to want to enter a letter for the region you are playing from. For most of us that will be an "E" which is for the Americas. So in the GameID slot you would have RSBE. The link to the website is http://wiimmfi.profeibe.at/

*I'm posting this in multiple places to give as many people as possible the chance to see it in time. I apologize if this isn't an appropriate place to post this within the forum, but not all of the character forums have a social/general discussion thread. In those cases I tried to pick a thread where I know a lot of people will see it. I figured many people will be interested in this as net play is not a plausible alternative for quite a few people.

Are you taking general classes and just thinking about programming or are you programming now in Computer Science and failing at that?

Because if you are trying it now and it ain't clicking after all this time and you don't want to work your way up in the video game industry beyond your own personal indie development, I would focus on a safer career path that is more your speed and then study programming in your spare time without the pressure of school.

If you haven't pushed yourself to program at all at this point then you aren't currently serious enough about it probably or what doors it could open up for you.

It's neither of those, I just don't know how to start the process of learning. I know where to find materials, tutorials, etc just not how to make myself passionate about it. I've taken two semesters of the classes but it's almost all stupidly boring stuff. Microsoft office boring. But Visual basic was this second semester. I just started out registering a week late for it, missed a lot of class early on, then after that always got super nervous and anxious at even the though of attending class or starting to catch up on the work. And I didn't know how to deal with the stress so I just avoided the stress by ignoring my problems and just doing other things. Like smashing.

Mathematics, logical systems, problem solving and design, stuff like that I've always excelled at, but it doesn't seem to matter how many nights I spend imagining the tiniest details of how I would go about solving problems, when my answer to myself during my waking hours is "Surely I'll care enough about it to get started learning it. Just not today." All the answers to the problem of "How do I get myself to be passionate enough and motivated enough to get started changing how I approach the issue of learning?" require some motivation to find. I feel like I'm in a kind of apathy loop. Recognizing it doesn't make me "care" about it enough either, though. Recognizing the consequences as being never accomplishing anything in life doesn't break the loop. I imagine it would take some kind of environmental factor to change but I just don't see it happening. Worst comes to worst, I fail out of school and have to live at my parents' working a minimum wage job so that I can pay the loan so that they, as my cosigners, don't have to declare bankruptcy.

That's a pretty bleak future you've set up there man. Take Smash and all your non-school electronics back home and put it in storage and don't have any of those distractions in your presence. The environment lets you escape but only because you set up the environment to allow that first.

It sounds like you don't want to program anymore (once you saw all the boring crap you had to do first) and seem stuck on failing with this. I would suggest trying something else in some school, even a community college right now that whatsoever excites you the way game design does and do that immediately before your totally screwed.

Can't suggest how to motivate any of the things I just said, only you can do that in the end just offering some suggestions.

If you do still have gen eds or lower level classes that can be completed elsewhere, then I absolutely second the notion of community college. Cheaper by a huge margin (where I'm going for an AS now is a third cheaper per credit hour than UCF; that's insane), sometimes better professors and class environments due to smaller class sizes and more dedicated teachers, and a much more tangible long term focus (clear out 1-2 years and snag an AA, then transfer). My situation is somewhat different though. I dropped out of game design because I really disliked the course program setup and I failed a Fall-only B-only class because of a ****ing peer review and did not care to wait around to try that again.

Hell ya it is I always wanted to get into that field but some of the stuff he posted I kinda realized as well and was IDK maybe. I kind still want to get into that field but being forced to go to California for the majority of studios with my family situation doesn't help me as much. More than likely start looking at testing jobs in the near future and see If I can do them at home.

Also this is gonna be Nintendo for the rest of this year get your wallets ready.

EDIT: Also random words by Justin Wong about the smash community. http://clashtournaments.com/eg-justin-wong-on-smash-its-definitely-the-best-fighting-game-scene-imo/

I do believe justin said that. However, in articles like that, don't they generally have an interview so you know where the quotes are from? The way it is now there's no source for what he said.

He just hasn't seen the ugly side of Smash.

Then again, Smash's ugly side is much tamer than the FGC's.

Usually more than likely it was probably a private interview on twitter or something along those lines but yeah usually they have a few sites of sources that they would get the info from.

EDIT: He is being truthful about smash that much I know but I bet compared to all of the BS and shady crap in the FGC compared to smash it's better in that regard.

Glad to see im not the only one who has to deal with student debt. >.<

I made the mistake of going for an art degree (which is basically worthless), and spent 15 grand in only one semester. Talk about big regrets :c

Almost everybody is gonna have to deal with Student Debt unless you got a sports scholarship or something along those lines LBSH. The kids who are growing up now are gonna have it a little worse once they get to that age.

I got $90k in debt, $30k of which my dad paid off. I'll pay him back for it eventually tho. I did get a double bachelors in physics and electrical engineering so I'll pay it off soon enough. I kinda burnt myself out at the end of school and lost a ton of motivation, so I ended up getting a decent paying but relatively very crappy job at a railroad company. My fire's back tho, so I'll be quitting soon so I can get more time to job hunt and prepare for interviews. I'll have enough money to last me until next june, and I will definitely find a nice job by then :D

Also, round robins at Smashing Grounds tomorrow. So psyched. Are there any other relatively big (25+) weeklies that do round robin pools?

The debt situation is a result of tuition slowly rising as the competition for top colleges gets tighter. That's why I made sure to apply for as many scholarships and extra things as I could, and it paid off in a big way. I realize I'm pretty fortunate, as school is tough on the wallet for a lot of people.

Yo this game looks super fun and two best friends play is giving it a shot as well. Man I wish I had a 360 or Xbone right now.

What's the FGC like?
Oh wow it's hard to explain everything but essentially the negative stuff is a combination of things that repeats itself every few years or so with that scratching the surface. Also if you play game X and it's not game Y some people dismiss it at trash or dead especially stream monsters.
