on a slightly more serious note I feel like mass liking devalues the actual worth of a "like" well whatever worth was still salvageable after smashbook added them.

This is generally the effect I have anywhere I go in these forums, and (as you saw from those 'debates') any common poster who generally knows 'kind of at least' what they're doing, from Oracle to Disqo to Eli calls me out like a douche then proves my points right back to me through their own logic.

Somebody can say "I don't like Project M" and that's just a regular statement of opinion, and if they leave it at that it's whatever. But if they say "I don't like Project M... because x y and z" they have now transitioned things into an argument. And validity starts to matter.

Your complaint about the singles format was basically "bad format, all legendaries should be banned" and frankly that's just a piss poor argument against the format (let's not even forget that VGC, the official Nintendo supported format, doesn't even ban all legendaries). A large number of the legendaries just don't impact the main singles format, OU, so why should they be banned? You can't look any singles player in the eyes and tell them that Mew should be in Ubers without getting laughed at because it's a ridiculous claim.

It's quite unfortunate really, as this dynamic creates batches of ignorant, intolerant people on both sides. I already explained this - it's not that they're too good, it's that they're good enough that they often overshadow everything else of similar type or purpose. I'm basically saying that a lot of underpowered pokemon exist, and I think a lot of legendaries exist at the opposite end of the spectrum and are contributing to the problem.

Also, I reiterate that, in my opinion, it's odd that there are pokemon that, in the single player campaign, are implied to be singular entities, and then you go into multiplayer and oh, your opponent also has a one-of-a-kind Time God or what the balls ever? It just feels silly, to me.
