Honestly I don't know why the Melee community hasn't made custom pads/sticks.
Jamming the L/R button every split second has to absolutely ruin your fingers so fast.
I knew the future would/will be much more widespread controller modification, specifically for the triggers, which Kadano is now furthering.
Light press air dodge in Wifi-set PM is the most ergonomic but similar to removing your springs, or inserting a maximum sized spacer: it negatively impacts numerous things which can be costly in high level play (or unnoticed to be able to perform). That said, someone like Odds_ doesn't notice much/care (complete spring removal). I didn't start realizing all of the negatives until later.
Inserting a spacer, which I did for one of my controllers, still goofs up certain stuff. I can't full shield in Melee with going past the click, which I don't want to do every time I full shield since I'm pretty sure it triggers the tech window if I were to get hit before I shielded or something.
Then there's also something Kadano likes which is reducing the normal point the triggers rest up at it, by inserting a piece of plastic to block the slider from going all the way up or something. Haven't tried this myself
The BEST so far to me is what my unmodified super old casually brutalized controller is: super weak rubber plate and spring. Both of which can be mimicked with perforating the hard press rubber and cutting off part of the spring (though I think it'd be best if Kadano experimented more with lengthening the spring out after it was cut or something).
With all this said though, even with incorporating now excessive AD orientated Falco play (Shine OOS DJ WL, Shine Platform WLs): incorporating Westballz Double Shines can fatigue my right side more than my left ever usually is now (which is what I use for mostly all my trigger related stuff). So that (which maybe Westballz does in a more ergonomic fashion), and high level Fox play on the Control Stick (which Fiction was complaining about), can all do fatiguing.
