Here's my thing. It's really nothing new and a lot of this censorship is a direct result of US culture (not even Social Justice because that's IMO an entirely, ENTIRELY different can of worms) so when something is "localized", true to the term, it's adjusted for the local area it's being brought to. It's been a trend since Nintendo first started bringing games over here, and it hasn't changed (well, actually they've been removing/changing a LOT LESS than they used to in the old days, so it's gotten a bit better I suppose)

I don't really think it's some sort of conspiracy to make games tank (look at how many directs have had Xenoblade Chronicles X in them for god's sake, anyone who knows what a WiiU is knows about that game). It just seems like a half-handed theory that's meant to complain about localization being localization, stick it to society and the corporations will adapt. If people change so too will the companies because they cater to, well, the people.

Like, Xeno X still looks like an amazing experience and an amazing game, so I often struggle to see the issue. Back when I was young(er) people saw localization differences as interesting, not irritating/aggravating. Not really directed at you at all personally, but I feel like people just like to get pissed off in general online these days, I find it unbelievable.

FYI my position on censorship is so long as core mechanics of the game aren't removed I'm whatever on it, and the dumb Doge meme in Tri-Force Heroes is probably just the translators/translator guy being funny/leaving his mark as STUPID as that is, it's entirely unwarranted, but so is the random MC Hammer reference in the Japanese Link to the Past release. I also think Tri-Force Heroes isn't taken that seriously as a game for translation in the first place, and given its content matter I can't blame anyone. It's one line of dialogue and people are just losing their minds, so strange.

I want to regress to the dark ages (if you'd call it that) where we just played games, at this point. It was a lot easier that way. Whew, this turned out longer than I expected. Carry on, good sir!

Lets just use 3.6 guys. Maybe, just maybe if we have a small dedicated team we can work in the bug fixes that we need (as they come up).

Yeah, this crowd seems a lot more chill than the monkeys over in the Nintenzone.

And nah, "censor dodging" and flaming is how they got me, but I got a PM from a mod literally telling me to shut up because all the people I wasn't replying to were getting offended over a conversation that didn't involve them.

I know I never post here, but...
While I'm grateful that the Dev Build got leaked, the worst thing that will come out of this is all the people running around making edits to the unfinished characters and making their own *totally awesome* custom builds instead of the clean official releases. The people responsible for the PSAs could finish and release them personally, I mean they're not members of the PMDT anymore...
The competitive comunity will probably live, but they need to keep playing 3.6 for a long time, if not forever, but I won't underestimate them. We really need a new PMDT before things get out of control.

I fell sorry for the PMDT though.
...unless they got hired by a company or something.

Does anyone know what to do with the gameconfig.txt and the Project m codeset.txt? I don't know where they go, and I believe that ii is because of not knowing where they go, it won't update. I can play the version without the new characters. Anyone able to help me? Thanks in advanced.

Like, holy **** I got shadowbanned from Reddit for downvoting Magres in the great ps2 thingy. All of my downvotes / upvotes / comments were completely legitimate and discovered on my own, since I play Planetside 2 and frequent that subreddit. Once that one admin posted about how legit people shouldn't be getting shadowbanned and only bots I contacted admins (again, they ignored all my previous requests) invoking that admin's name. I had an idea of the game, and I... "hinted" at the fact in a humble way by saying I was in the wrong ideologically with my comments / downvotes against Magres and got a response by an admin unshadowbanning me that acknowledged the game, again subtly. But here's the interesting part, they told me to "not brigade again" and implied some stuff that is directly contradictory to the other admin's front page post about 'legit users shouldn't get shadowbanned.'
Ha. I guess I'll just not "brigade" in the future.

There are lines to observe and games to play everywhere. Smashboards is no different, though I'd like to think they're more friendly than most. "No report, no foul."

I firmly believe in free expression and being polarizing over trying to fit in or please everyone. Obviously, that level of conformity doesn't work well for someone like me.

Actually, I've naturally always been someone who much prefers to run against the grain of socially conditioned norms, and when certain EVR try to impose their antilogic on me, it just doesn't work out.

Not a rule breaker persay, but I'm also not a rule follower either.

WTF, Anita was at the United Nations?? She is a blogger, not a published, respected academic with rigorous studies starting with a hypothesis. I actually blame GamerGate for making her a victim of harassment. It isn't like she even supports egalitarian media. She supports media without violence, period. She specifically thinks games without violence are better for it and games with violence are worse for it. Like, you had to take someone who was hardly even a legitimate feminist and then put her in the spotlight by threatening her.

IDK what this specific ****storm you are talking about is. Did Anita ever specifically comment on DoA? If she did I could guess it would go something like, women, skimpy violence, objects, porn. Which is kind of really true in DoA's case.

My major problem with Anita is she looks at games and cherrypicks tropes and designates them as bad. And anything that includes that trope is ruinedFOREVER. But really these tropes existing videogames is becoming a smaller problem because they are less and less dominant and the idea that we should eradicate damsels in media is a bit over the top. The point of tropes is that we use them effectively without overdoing it. I think plenty of core fans were tired of Mario and Zelda doing the same things (abusing the tropes) even before Anita brought it up, so the developers took note and made changes. In Skyward Sword for example, Zelda is actually on her own quest the whole time and fights to save the world an equal amount if not more, which is better than the same canned story.

No way there will ever be a consensus on what to do. We can see that happening right now in this thread. If the best bug fix mod also includes Knuckles, it will win out in the end. Because a majority of people prefer having a new character that the PMDT fully crafted over those who are too purist to enjoy it.
