Why are you guys upset or surprised about Zelda Wii U being delayed?
Zelda games generally take longer to make than any other of Nintendo's games.
Also, after 2014, I'm glad for delays. I'd rather have the game complete than released with a bunch of bugs and the dev having to patch them out over the course of 3+ months, if at all.
In fact, this song sums up 2014 quite nicely.
For those that can't watch, 2014 had a bunch of games that got rushed out and were horifically bugged such as Sonic Boom, Assassin's Creed Unity, The Master Chief Collection, The PC port of Dead Rising 3, Watch_Dogs, Tetris on PS4,
Smash Bros 3DS, etc. Note that some of those games are being patched to this day.
FFXV is looking as great as it is because it has been delayed for so long, you can probably expect the same out of the Zelda U game. If that's the quality level that games are going to shoot for from now on, I'm absolutely fine with them taking longer to release.
On the contrary, FFXV is in a different situation where it's in danger of being the next Duke Nukem Forever.
There's a certain point where delays and multi-year long productions stop benefiting the game and I think FF15 surpassed that as the game has been in the works for about 9 years.
I remember reading somewhere that before 2009, the DNF team had to play catchup with game trends because of how much gaming(FPS games especially) changed since 1997, which caused production to lag even more. I would imagine FFXV is suffering through something very similar.
