If anyone's interested, I have an idea that I posted in general discussion about starting a channel and making it something that all PM players will think of immediately when PM footage comes to mind. I feel like boosting something like that to such a level would assist in bringing PM back into a positive spotlight.
PMDepot tho

Like seriously I suggested Lunchables put his community critiques on there for basically this exact reason. Mad is basically one of the most well versed frame data dictionaries ever, Odds is certified eSports, and Lunchables is one of the best Roys and THE toon link. Imo, there's a possible future in making PMDepot the go-to community-run PM yt channel.

Good to know
I'm just gonna go ahead and say it.

This new "cool" guy is just a nintendo rep in disguise. He's clearly here to gain our trust, gather intel, then give us the big N's big D.

No one buys a premium that quick.
and no one who frequents smashboards is this cool guy so effortlessly.

I'm warning all of you now. Cover your holes.

Great job on the Mods with Project M. I found out about project M though VGBoot Camp and I'm sad to see them dumping you guys and taking the stream money already generated from Project M support.

Hopefully Gimr steps up and creates new channels for his new viewpoint insteading riding the coat tails of the grass roots everyone worked so hard to create. His current brand is so tied to PM he should have to work and build up his new viewpoints. During the Ros and Pacman fight I was sad to see him running around stopping other steams to help him artifically inflate the Smash 4 numbers.

Anyway, good job to all the hard work and Smash love, don't buy into the hate cause hatters always gonna hate whats good. Step up, Smash on!

Is there some trick to ledgedashing or am I just bad? I just can't seem to do it consistently, and the tighter I try to make it the more I SD. I suppose it is called the tournament winner for a reason...

I've been trying to think about how one could possibly make a competitive version of Flat Zone; one that still keeps the spirit of the originals by being game-accurate, just choosing games with better layouts.

I was thinking of hacking Flat Zone 2 so that:
  • Fire -> Boxing (FD-like layout, with the Manhole guy still showing up)
  • Chef -> Egg (WarioWare-like layout)
  • Oil Panic -> Zelda (Not too sure about this one)
  • Lion -> Rain Shower (Pokémon Stadium-like layout)

I have a concept, even some idea how to incorporate the elements I want. The issue is actually making the hack... -_-

Just install 3.02 and make him hate Mewtwo so much he never **** talks ZSS again. The best of solutions.

Apex absolutely would have been possible without Nintendo. There have been plenty of other Apex tournaments and tons of regionals/nationals/etc. for over a decade for smash bros without corporate support. Also, Apex almost got shut down by other factors like a messed up hotel and stuff... How about thanking Twitch's sponsorship? There are other sponsors to be had and those sponsors are totally fine with Project M.
Right. I said that the other games aside from Smash 4 would have been fine to run through community setups like they've been doing for years. But Smash 4? I have a lot of doubts that an 800+ entrants tournament would have been realistic. Smash 64, Melee and PM setups are significantly cheaper than Smash 4 setups. It's easily in the range of $500-$600 for a cheap Smash 4 setup.
Even small Smash 4 tournaments have issues getting enough setups because of how expensive they are, and frankly, the fact that people steal **** from Smash tournaments all the time. Somebody stealing your Cube sucks, but you're only out like $30-40. Somebody steals your Wii U and now you're out $300. Your CRT breaks at a tournament? It's like what, $50 for a good Trintron? Compare that to the $200+ for a monitor. There's a lot more risk involved with Wii U setups.

I'm just saying, that the people who **** on Nintendo's sponsorship are probably only looking at it from the Melee/PM side of things. The older games don't need **** from Nintendo, but Smash 4 most likely will when it comes to any tournament close to the size of Apex.

Plum was talking about hardware costs for multiple set ups, so whatever high cost the game copies currently are (which Apex got around with burned copies as I'm sure others did) doesn't address his point.

They are compared to smash 4, Plum is right. Tafo said on reddit the other day that a full melee setup costs something like $80, while smash 4 comes up to ~$550. I would never bring a smash 4 setup to a huge event like apex, even spooky, a mainstage streamer, got his $500 modded 3DS stolen in the few seconds he turned his back.

Nintendo provided something like $27k worth of equipment, smash 4 would certainly not be possible without them.

Relative to a Smash 4 setup.
And that will greatly impact somebody's willingness to bring a setup to a tournament. Especially when that tournament is a huge major and you have people coming from literally all over the world.
I just went on my local Craigslist and after some searching found a CRT that's being given away for free to who ever wants it, and a Cube with Melee (and a controller) for $75. Compare that to the ~$500 I'd have to spend for a Smash 4 setup.

Trinitrons are 5 bucks at good will in az. Cubes go for like 25 lol. I feel bad for the rest of the world, socal has to pay like 60 for trinitrons
