I'm glad people are starting to say that they just want more TTYD now, instead of expecting every last Paper Mario game to be just like TTYD.

Because there HAVE been more Paper Mario games.

I'd just like a Mario game that isn't dreadfully tedious (SPM) or lacking in any form of soul or logical sense of design (Sticker Star). Asking for more TTYD is the best way at this point because IS can't seem to get the idea.

The first Paper Mario was good but my issues with it are solely on the early game pacing. I want my action commands at the start, gosh darn it! That being said I'd like another Paper Mario like the first two, and I'd like D-Down Jump as a badge to come back even if it was broke as ****.

Paper Mario TTYD is the original but expanded to put it lightly. So of course people would want that over the original, despite it also being excellent.

I liked the deviation into SPM and I'm glad that they did it, I'd just rather get another TTYD sequel. I wouldn't mind a SPM2 tbh, I just like the alternative more.

EDIT:
Scratch that, I wouldn't want an SPM2 just because I feel that the original already had a well concluded plot, and I feel that a direct sequel to SPM2 would kind of ruin the great note that SPM left on. Gameplay wise though, I wouldn't mind a sequel.

People act as if the first Paper Mario was bad and will never live up to glorious TTYD.
Maybe it's because I'm tired, but this post doesn't make sense to me. How would a predecessor live up to its sequel? Wouldn't it be the other way around?

And for what it's worth, I really liked the first Paper Mario, but imo TTYD was an improvement in almost every aspect over the original, so of course naturally I would like it more. It would be like comparing Pokemon Red/Blue with Gold/Silver.

Sticker Star was just bad, and I don't really think you can blame that on nostalgia blindness.

Yeah, don't be getting me wrong here. The original is fantastic and I prefer certain elements from both. I feel that TTYD perfected the battle system in many ways, from rounding out partners, to vastly expanding badges, and adding action commands and overall more varied functionality to special moves, and not to mention the audience. It expands in effectively all the right ways in that regard.

SPM is actually a Paper Mario game, and a really solid one at that. It has the world and charm of the others, but also the depth. If it was designed as an RPG rather then a platformer, it would be loved a lot.

That being said, South Park: The Stick of Truth is probably the best Paper Mario game of this gen.

I think the charm being there is one of the most redeeming factors of the game. But I just can't behind how little the gameplay evolves and how either tedious or uninteresting the chapter objectives were. Chapter 2 and IIRC 7 were notoriously awful and I couldn't help but feel I was doing the same thing throughout all of 5.

After I finished SPM, I told myself that I should never push myself through that game ever again. Despite that, I still like it far more than SS, which I never bothered to finish. It just so happens that mixes of frustration and fun are way more memorable than complete apathy.

I know about FE x SMT, but the most recent Nintendo Direct announced an entirely new FE game separate from the crossover and that's what I'm talking about.
Smt x fe is all that matters

That's what I'm saying! Paper Mario sequel or FE Awakening sequel? I mean I'll buy either one regardless but...
idk.
If I was forced to make a choice I would probably still take the FE sequel

But that is a hard choice still

If they remove the dumb "skill"-centric focus of FE then obviously FE wins, because FE reduced to the basics is da bessssss

I actually hate the RNG skills system lol

RNG miss/crit is enough for the entire game

Wishing it'd come out faster won't change anything.
...Patience.

Wow, I actually learned something from this thread that makes me somewhat hyped. Thanks, Tail.

I just want lethality gone tbh. Stupidest thing ever and I've seen Jirachi Iron Head flinch an entire team...

Think I may very well pick up Melee Marth. PPU and PPMD inspired me, hopefully I'll still be able to play PM Marth proficiently as well.

God, Dash dancing is stupid in Melee

I had a post when I first joined in this thread like two months ago on my views about FE:Awakening's system, and the tl;dr was that fe6/7 system is just plain better, although it could use some tweaks, some particular ones perhaps some changes to archers to make them more useful as opposed to mage types, balance things.

If is going to change archers, as we know they are weak to katanas from close range. This can mean one of two possibilites:

A. Bows are part of the weapon triangle now with strengths and weaknesses to each class.

B. Bows are strong at long range but weak in close range.

Either way, bows will play a stronger role in Fire Emblem rather than being middling.

****...

I just learned that one of my favorite animators, Monty Oum,died from an allergi reaction at a medical treatment.

he died way too young. I wonder what's gonna happen to RWBY now.

I will always remember the days in high school when I would get bored and watch Dead fantasy otr Haloid.

The real world certainly isn't the same as a fairy tale, but we're still here to make the world a better place.
...Now we're gonna do so in his memory, too.

Archers should just have a class unique +1 additional range on bows.
I don't think that is necessarily the right balance, but it does make them useful I guess.
The only thing they really had going for them was that it attacked from a range and did high damage to fliers
but then they just gave fliers skills that reduce damage from bows and wind magic
like, why even bother

How about we do what Radiant Dawn did?
Because hey, Marksman were good, but they weren't broken. Seeing how they were balanced, let's see how that works.
And hell, let's see if crossbow with either fixed damage or no mt would work. Because I dunno, it worked in RD and they still weren't OP.

I'd like the new Fire Emblem to not be as simplified and watered down as Awakening was. Awakening had great dialogue, characters, and interface, but the removal of Light magic, the devalue of terrain, how broken pair up was, messed with how hard I actually had to play the game, and its emphasis on grinding skills for children wore on me quick.

I would go on about this, but I just basically cut a whole essay because it was tl;dr

so, pairups are bad give back rescues, terrain had value in lunatic and lunatic+, dark magic was left to be like bows since the dark/light/anima triangle was lost, and skills are an unnecessary rng element
