I was in the SRK community for awhile and saw podcast and documentaries like gooteck, dogface show, I Got Next, Bang The Machine etc. After being in the smash community for 2 years, i dont see much interviews, podcast, and documentaries.

So it's just me and GSUB so far (Stab haven't say anything about it) (If ya down to help, you better be serious about it, no half *** work)
once i get a hold of a mic and figure it out how to edit and stuff

If possible i wanna have HMW (Provide some stuff about Nor Cal), Phil, HugS, Scar (he can provide what's EC Communities is like and how it's different compare to WC), Champ, Eggz or Silent Wolf (provide some coverage on Washington) and Lovage <3 on it if possible (if you can, it would be nice =])

what's HugS's mindset? how does S2J get good so fast? how does Silent Spectre stay motivated for this game? etc.

i dont want this idea to go to waste and ****

we might not have the best equipments like camera, video editing programs and such but we'll try our best you know (Smashers are poor) if you guys dont like it then we'll stop

JDM is in the I Got Next (a SF4 documentary) and it's pretty amazing stuff. he's translating the japanese players interview etc.

it's not just me or stab or GSUB asking questions and interview, it's what the community wanna hear:

(thanks to lovage for the idea)

"Lovage" - "you know something to consider is making a thread asking the community for topics they want to hear about say all these pros are gonna talk about the game and they can help decide what topics they want"

what's HugS's mindset? how does S2J get good so fast? how does Silent Spectre stay motivated for this game? why does kira play so gay? why's vans always getting hit on? why's zgetto hot? what's lunin's theory about tipper and full tipper? etc. once in a while we'll do some funny podcast just for lolz

a topic and a discussion to go with it

please voice your opinion

This actually sounds like a really cool idea. I think you guys should aim to put together a mini-documentary or like a rough draft and show it to the community and then get input and go from there (like 15 mins). Even 15-20 minutes of edited footage is going to take a lot of work so start from there and see how it goes.

how about mystery guests?

like interview them or just have them be there just talking and have people guess who it is
the reward for the first correct guess or something can be like free venue and/or entry to an upcoming tourney (you'd have to talk to the T.O. or something)

I think podcast is one of the biggest time wasters! If you guys are just gonna be talking then you guys are gonna get nowhere! You guys better have matches going on while talking to keep peoples attention!

Atlus has a good point though.

With all the effort that would go into these podcasts, wouldn't it be relatively easy to have something like a strategic talk section? Something where a pro commentates on a 'good' match by other pros and comments on various decisions that a pro made in-game, why they made those decisions, perhaps other decisions that might have worked better, and how it relates to character playstyles and matchups. Commenting on their own game is kind of unnecessary, but let's say you got m2k to say some sheik stuff about a kirbykaze match or hugs talking about some phanna games and incorporated it as part of the podcast, it would be really interesting to hear their perspectives on those games!

this seems more of like, a self-improvement/mindset kinda thing, not so much specific "why he did this thing at that time," and a look into the community, and news in the community.

but releasing videos once in awhile instead of a podcast would be cool.

I think this could be a really good idea. Here's some suggestions:
1) Interview traveling players whenever possible. At the beginning, it doesn't matter as much because SoCal is a large and vibrant community with a lot of people that I think would make for good guests. But if this lasts for a long time, only having SoCal on your show will get stale. (Alternatively: figure out how to record a skype conversation with someone.)
2) Triple check any information you try to put on the show. As soon as the podcast starts presenting misinformation, people will stop listening.
3) This kind of goes with #2, but have someone listen to your podcast before it goes on air. An impartial third party can help you make good decisions.

there's a lot of ways to record skype calls, the only problem is that I don't actually remember how many/which programs are free...

people looove to talk about themselves and by extension their passions. this will be good if you ask good questions... which is waaay harder than it sounds
