Wow....there's nobody here! Couldn't have picked a better day for zero attendance, mind you; spontaneously driving to Red Deer is pretty crippling and I'm extremely tired among other things.

I'm just imagining a row of carefully placed wavebirds sitting on the table... lonely and unused as the Smash title sequence plays on the TV behind them.

awwww....

poor neglected wavebirds...

Wavedashing with Luigi is essential.
Using Falco's Laser is essential.
L-Cancelling with Bowser is essential.

You can still play a mean Peach without the use of the C-Stick.
If you're looking for something to learn, I would start with Float-Canceled F-Airs. Maybe some Chain-grabbing.

The light is definitely red. Pretty sure it's a cooling issue because it only seems to affect disc-based games; we can play virtual console and browse Wii channels indefinitely, but it doesn't care for the motorized disc spinning.

I blame that one day that it was so hot in there.

Chad float canceled bairs and nairs are equally important, dairs even... I haven't tried uair so much though, it's probably broken though. Peach's chainthrow is harder than drillshines.

How'd you new guys do? Was it fun?

how dare you refuse to use the cstick?!?!?! the cstick is my best friend =D it helps me out with my fast fall dairs without falling too fast that i don't even pull out the dair. and oh no more peaches =O lets hope they all start out like chad, and roll into my downsmashes =D

Now, now, no need to crave blood, everybody. :) The new guys are free-for-fall players, essentially, as we all once were, I expect.

Peach's chainthrow is harder than drillshines.
That's patently untrue, I think, but I've noticed that chainthrowing seems to come to me easier than most. Or maybe you're destined to be able to drillshine naturally.

Yeah, we've gotta work on our 1vs1 skills.
I learned wave dashing, but haven't been able to use it effectively yet...

Being a Luigi main has actually forced me into the habit of using all characters' wavedashes and wavelands at an abnormally high rate, I've noticed. All of the same advantages of knowledge of movement apply with each character, albeit at slightly smaller scales.

Pro Impact BI-WEEKLY Smash XX

Pro Impact BI-WEEKLY Smash XX
NORTH vs. SOUTH Crew Battle Edition!

We will be hosting our twentieth bi-weekly Smash session on Sunday, August 26th, 2007.

"It's all good though, because playing with crew members in school will make you better at smash. Not only that, but they will also help you decide your career as well.
See you at Lowe's in 10 years when I need help with tiles and equipment."
Knives, UC Crew Battles...part 2?, 2007

For review:

Entry Fee: $5.00

Date: Sunday, August 26th, 2007

Time: 1:00 PM

Place: #1, 103 Huntington Prk Grn NW

Contact No.: 403-869-3971

We hope to have everyone here for about 1:00 in the afternoon which should give us enough of a morning to prepare for the arrivals. As it is in my nature to be a hospitable host, I will do my best to ensure that no smasher goes dehydrated, however thanks to continued contributions to the Pro Impact Treasury, most of the gratitude for the refreshments is owed back to the players. Additionally, we typically have a variety of deliciously hedonistic snack foods available for all those who attend, too!

Now that I've sold you on the free food, I'd best explain the rest. The $5.00 entry fee you pay to enter the tournament grants you both passage into our house for a day as well as a position in the double elimination bracket for SSBM Singles; the Doubles tournament is free and tends to be less competitive anyway. The winner of the Singles tournament takes home half the pot comprised of all the entry fees and the other half goes towards the aforementioned Pro Impact Treasury, the fund that keeps ProImpact.ca and the bi-weeklies themselves financially afloat.

The entry fee is purposefully kept quite low and with a 16-player tournament, the winning pot is still only $40.00, which is hopefully enough to keep it competitive while still maintaining a casual and friendly environment. It is important that the tournament is accessible by everyone and that the cost is low enough that a brand new player won't be discouraged from coming based on the pretense that they have to win.

The telephone number above rings straight to my cell phone from a Calgary area code and I accept calls 24 hours a day...even from total strangers...so if you find yourself having nightmares at 4 in the morning and waking up in a cold sweat because you're not sure whether or not you can counterpick Rainbow Cruise at the next bi-weekly, have no fear! Just give me a ring and I'll roll haphazardly out of bed to answer your call. Maybe.

We would like to know who is attending before 1:00 actually rolls around as well, just in case we end up trying to seat 35 people who didn't sign up in one 3-bedroom home. So, if you would like to attend, please post here!

There will be a 16 player cap on this event and I will post the names of the confirmed and unconfirmed attendees below. If you find that all of a sudden it's Sunday and the bi-weekly starts in half an hour but you're still on the "unconfirmed" list, don't even worry about it. Unless we already have 16 confirmed players and another 6 on the waiting list before you, I'm sure we can find space. The player cap can stretch a little bit in either direction to best accomodate each tournament if necessary.

If there's nothing else, we'll see you all when you get here!

EXTRA SPECIAL NOTES ABOUT THIS TOURNAMENT...with sugar on top!

This edition of Pro Impact BI-WEEKLY Smash features a long-anticipated inner-city crew battle between the Calgary players from the NORTH and SOUTH side of the town.

When confirming your attendance, please announce whether or not you would like to play in the crew battle, and if so, which crew you will be playing on (if not already correctly labelled in the confirmed list below)!

I'd attend but frankly my skills are much too weak to bother yet.
I've still got to practice a lot it would seem.

The best practice you can get is by going to tourneys and playing people better then you.
