Sometimes you can feel the engry emited by the other player and based on what you can gather you could know how strong or weak of a player(mindset wise). I've played a few people where they were going charter/stage cp me and I knew I might lose a single match something I rather not do. So I saw him hover and I would go come on come on i'm about to f*** some s*** up. Worried he just went back and picked poorly.

Also I feel their stage bans and port picks sometimes show how they might play before hand like small stages to lock you down fd for combos and etc.

Pretend to be the really good, or be really good.
Have so much overconfidence that your opponent will be surrounded by your aura of badass.
They will be a bit more nervous during the match knowing how confident you are.

No guide them away from the counter picks. If someone trys to take your puff to ys if you don't ban it just tell how fast this is going to be or how they won't have any di options other than di and get gimped or rested.

There is a fine line between gamesmanship and poor sportsmanship. As long as you're not being rude or disrespectful, it's fun to try getting into your opponent's head during a tournament set.

I always play rock-paper-scissors for controller ports (though usually people don't care about ports), just to have the minute psychological edge and giving the opponent a mindset that they are playing with a disadvantage if they lose (in reality I could care less what port I'm using).

When you pull off something slick or amazing, don't react (this is hard, I usually am pretty happy when I do something cool). If you can sell it, pretend like you could have done better or that you messed up somehow.

Give them the silent treatment. Some people like talking when they play Melee. This will make them uncomfortable.

Always shake their hand and compliment them when the set is over. After all, it's all in good faith and you're just playing to win.

I am pretty much the master of pre-game mindgames. The last time I lost an RPS match for a controller port was like 3the tournies ago, and I almost always counterpick certain seats or ask them to switch their color for easier identification. If they refuse to switch their color I show them the fine print that says that im neutral/red/blue/green colorblind.

come in 2 minutes late for your game exceptionally high. apologize for your brief absence, introduce yourself as "_____, i have skill beyond measure." Pick Luigi and nothing but. Tell them it was a good first game although you 3 stocked them. Never display anything remotely resembling emotion. i find yawning at certain times will get in your opponents head as well.

I honestly would not give 2 ****s that you're colorblind.
wouldn't even give 1 ****

however in RPS I always throw scissors. over and over again. even against people I know who only throw rock over and over again.

Nah mangs. It's all about when you're striking stages. Strike one of your favorites first, breath a sigh of relief when they take a stage off. "Man I HATE going there" is your go-to phrase. **** with their CP later in the set.
