This would be the starting roster. I'm pulling a Brawl/3DS/Wii U here

And this would be the full roster. Below, are the alt attires that characters can play (yes, I included Roy for a reason). I really wanted Lyn in, but Lucina was enough for me to be satisfied. Seeing that she was originally a Marth alt, Lyn would take her spot and Lucina makes alt attires.

I'm never a fan of giant rosters, I feel it looks kind of overloaded but that's just me. I count like... 11 Mario reps and while there's just only 6 Pokemon reps, huh?

Each of those Mario reps represent a specific spin-off. Outside of adding either Grovyle or Sceptile I can't think of any other pokemon that would have any big significance that are not a pokeball pokemon or enemy already. If you can make an ideal roster it is best to go all in. Mine is made up of most of the highly requested characters around the web and some I always wanted. Can't go wrong with that lol.

If people didn't like Dixie, Geno, Daisy, Toad, Dr. Mario, Dark Pit (for whatever reason), and Mach Rider...They would not be on my list tbh.

Only minus for me would be Mii Fighters - just not a fan at all as I see the whole Mii concept as a huge fad - I barely even care about creating my own Mii now on my Wii U - it was fun five years ago when I got a Wii, sure...real slow of Nintendo to only now integrate them into games...kind of like a parent trying to keep hip to be honest

I'd say the current roster with the following additions:

The Big Three
For Pokemon - I would love to see the ability to evolve Pokemon characters - basically include alternate costumes and based on the costume you'd have access to certain custom moves. I'd include all four "original" starters (Charmander, Squirtle, Bulbasaur, Pikachu), Mewtwo, obviously, and one additional rep from each series that provides a different element type
Professor Layton - just a huge fan of the Layton games, I've bought all six of the main series and seen the movie
Impa
Crono - I know his rights are in flux, he's one of the best characters to ever grace a Nintendo console and it's a shame they can't get him - I'd play a fighter game that only featured the 7 playables from CT actually...
Spider-Man - Because why the hell not if all of the above is already in

I replaced Dark Pit with a more desirable and unique dark clone, that being Dark Samus. I sprinkled a little magic to make Snake return to the fray.

Well, it's a 100% subjective roster, so when I built it I simply dragged in some characters I wanted and had to prioritize certain existing characters, just so happens that I don't see the appeal of Palutena and Rosalina. Believe me, if I had to make a roster that cattered to the general audience more I'd never have cut them.

Cut characters: the clones (Dr. Mario, Lucina and Dark Pit) who will become alternate costumes as they were imagined in the beginning.

- Toad (the only major character from the Super Mario platformers that's still missing)
- Dixie Kong (her helicopter hair can be an interesting gimmick)
- King K. Rool (one of the Big Three and a villain, would be cool to use)
- Midna (another interesting and beloved character, she could play in a tag team with a wolf)
- Ridley (does it need any explanation?)
- Tharja (I'm a bit biased, since she's one of my favorite characters of Awakening, but a 100% mage character could be interesting. Maybe she could focus on moves that leech the "energy" from the opponents)
- Wolf (rescued from Brawl)
- Krystal (of course, she would weild her elemental staff)
- Ice Climbers (rescued from Brawl)
- Mewtwo (rescued from Melee)
- Lucas (rescued from Brawl)
- Inkling (it would be a way to promote Splatoon, and the human/squid gimmick could provide a unique character)
- KOS-MOS (she's Namco's poster girl and incredibly popular in Japan, and she comes from the "Xeno" games like Shulk)

Why cut basically everyone to add old characters? Rosalina, Robin, Lucina, Greninja and Wii-Fit Trainer are all new. I guess I understand Lucina cause her move-set is a clone. But other than that I don't get why you would remove those people. Oops XD Reading further I understand. I agree with you. Dr mario, Young link, Toon link and Lucina should be alternates, instead of there own slot.

That's a nice looking roster. I love Toad for some reason, even if he's just a weird-ass mushroom man. I think he should be in a future smash bros, whether it be captain toad or just toad.

I said post you're ideal roster. So it's cool to see everyone's different ideas. Ravio should be playable! I just realize, he could use all the items from his shop in his attacks. And his bird could do something to. XD (the one that grabs you re items when you die) Yuga would be cool too. I'm not done A link between worlds though so don't spoil. I just finished the first dungeon in lorule. I chose to do the thieves hideout first.

if anyone could make a picture roster for me in you spare time,i'd be very grateful.

Basically, I'd like the roster how it'd be without time constraints. Every character from every previous installment would stay in. Clones wouldn't have to be clones and their movesets would evolve across games. Roy and Lucina wouldn't be Marth clones; Falco wouldn't be a Fox clone; Ganon wouldn't be a Captain clone... the list goes on. I don't really have any specific examples, just that all characters would be persistent through titles and Nintendo would add characters they see fit.

I think this would be ideal. And the end result (the roster we did end up) Is only the way it is due to time constraints. I think if Sakurai did not flat out say that the rosters would be the same, the wii-u would have had some additional characters as they have a longer time to work on it.

More like a nightmare. Just Ike and Robin from fire emblem? ; u ; and some random villager animal...I'm just kidding though, it's you're personal roster so I have no gripes. I said post you're ideal roster. So it's cool to see everyone's different ideas. Ravio should be playable! I just realize, he could use all the items from his shop in his attacks. And his bird could do something to. XD (the one that grabs you re items when you die) Yuga would be cool too. I'm not done A link between worlds though so don't spoil. I just finished the first dungeon in lorule. I chose to do the thieves hideout first.

Haha, yeah, I'm not a huge fan of Fire Emblem. And Gracie isn't an AC villager--she's the fashion checker/boutique owner. I just think she'd have a pretty interesting set using her various fashion accessories and fashion-checking capabilities. But yeah, you hit the nail on the head with Ravio. I know he's really minor (which is why I didn't include him in the 50-character roster) but he has a lot of potential with all the items in his store + the bird.

First of all I didn't cut any viable characters from melee (Dr. Mario, Roy, or Mewtwo) or Brawl (All except Squirtle and Ivysaur)

We are also in DIRE need of some good heavyweights! I also do not mind some series having 9 characters in their series (Mario/Pokemon) if at least other deserving characters get slots.

I'll go down the line:
Impa: AKA necessary, could be a nice healthy mix between Sheik and Zelda. Awesome regardless
Ridley: Obvious for obvious reasons. Need more heavyweights
K. Rool: Like Ridley, awesome character and potential movepool + heavyweight
Dixie: A good mix between DK and Diddy. Agile yet strong.
Roy: Plays WAY different from Marth or Lucina. His strength lies within the hilt of his sword. He has to be close. Way harder game, but super rewarding.
Lucina: She stays because of her mechanic of neutral balance in strength to Marth and Roy
Hades: I don't need to explain this either. Another villain/heavyweight/great movepool. The list goes on. Who cares if he is from Kid Icarus
Pokemon Line: 2nd, 3rd and 5th gen have no representation. Good use if done like this:
Tyranitar: 2nd Gen pokemon, heavyweight, should be one of the heaviest. Could hit strong. Awesome Ground/Dark type
Sceptile: 3rd Gen, Replaces Ivysaur as a grass type. Everyone wants.
Zoroark: 5th Gen, LOOKS LIKE A SMASH CHARACTER. Awesome move potential with Dark type.

Krystal: Self explanatory
B. Shadow: Should be the ganondorf of the series. Ganon should have his own moveset.
Marshal: Was planned, another 2d character= awesome
Rayman: Trophy in game, another ridiculous 3rd party character
Amaterasu: Made a mistake and put duck hunt at the bottom in between. Amaterasu has 3 different weapons, can utilize them like shulk changes power. Would be glorious. Basically the only other capcom character that should ever be invited.

Blank Slot: It is for ISSAC. I couldnt find an image. Again I don't need to explain his inclusion.

So there you have it! More than 70 characters if everybody got their top choices! I'm sure I missed a few but a game with this roster would make me die a happy little fanboy.

"Blood and tears"? Got my hyperbole for the week with that sentence (or at least the day).

Roster is very, VERY good as is - I miss a few too (in order Snake/ICs (tie), Mewtwo, Wolf/Lucas/Squirtle/Ivysaur a little less so, Roy/Pichu would amuse me I guess...) and I could do without a few (mainly DHD, I would never have minded if Doc never made it for one of the above either), but everything else is very strong and a rather fair balance of the series that are represented.

If you want to satisfy all fanbases, you left out Krystal (I don't care but I know many did - I think that would be a sufficiently large fanbase you ignored). But I suppose that's just nitpicking.

Also to the poster a few above me, the original 12 are iconic in Smash, cutting any of them would be just as bad as cutting Marth or Zelda/Sheik, who are also rather iconic to Smash (and I think you'll find VERY few people [who aren't jaded by losing to them over and over in Melee] who would support those characters' removal for good reason - the same reasoning applies to Mario, Luigi, Link, Kirby, Samus, Pikachu, Fox, Yoshi, Donkey Kong, Captain Falcon, Ness, and, Jigglypuff).

I kept wolf starfox at 3 is fine, krystal would be dlc. Starfox getting more than 3 isnt a priority, just like kirby getting 4 isnt a priority. Also I hate our current roster.

Just take the current roster and add isaac, black shadow (giving ganondorf his own moveset), krystal, wolf, roy, mewtwo, ice climbers, dixie kong, king k. rool and sukapon.

I would give wario a different side B and down B. One of them could be a money bag projectile where he throws money bags in an arc that explode with coins when they hit someone. I would also change lucario's mechanic to something more a kin to what PM did with him.
