You can get out just like Smash DI'ing Fox's upair. DI the shine away/forward, then smash DI the dair in the opposite direction.
What? That works? Well ****. Thanks for the tip!
All this does it put your body a bit out of range for Falco's shine. Its good, but a bit hard to do. What ArcNatural isn't telling you, is that if Falco does one of his 120394 other combo options you still die.
If you manage to d.i. out of the shine's range, he can succesfully combo:
-utilt (to more utilt or another shine etc)
-turnaround grab (dair's hitstun is so ********)
-dsmash (if you're near an edge; this true combos)
You'll be experiencing dair utilt alot in this new metagame. Its amazing...combos into itself, into shine, into fsmash, into more dair, into grab. A good Falco won't let a combo opp (i.e.: free stock vs. Fox) escape him due to silly things like "d.i." lol
how about some general tips/tricks for breaking out of combos/DI-ing
D.i.ing moves is move specific. Even if two different moves send you in the same general direction, at times you'll need to d.i. them differently in order to survive, or do something else you might have planned. Easy example is Falcon's knee and Marth's fair. You survival d.i. the knee, cool. You do the same with fair, you get *****.
It all depends on what percent you're at, where you are on the stage, who you're facing, etc. If you want to escape onto a platform and try your luck there, theres a specific direction you should be d.i.ing in to achieve that. If you feel you're about to get Ken combo'd, there is a certain way to d.i. to avoid that ( mostly). D.i.ing is all about judging where you are and whats going on. Make the right choice and it might save you a few hits. Top tier smash is built in such a way that getting hit usually means certain death, so don't get used to the idea that you can get out of everything.
