I am not sure if this is something already discovered or not, i want to say that this is not a new advanced technique or anything like that, this is something i did by accident while playing a friend, if this is something stupid and not worth your time I am sorry for posting something like this, i just tought it was interesting.

When you perform a Dtilt with marth you can use the game's buffering system you can and perform a HypenSmash just a few frames after doing the Dtilt, i finded that this was very useful to kill with usmash.

The things i can think this might be useful is to hit below a shield and open your opponent to a hypen smash, this could be a secure way to kill with marth, i haven't tested it a lot, but it seems that with practice this could be the main way to kill with marth because it's very safe.

way to do: Dtilt>Dash+hypen smash (the dash must be done a few frames before the Dtilt ends)

It's something nice to note, but using hyphen u-smash from a situation where you were dtilt'ing is rather risky. It could be useful if you know what you're opponent is going to do based on random patterns throughout the match(jumping without an air dodge), but if you do this and they instead roll behind you or they simply don't drop their shield, you'll get punished. The timing it takes to do this basically requires you to act at the same time as they do, not in reaction to what they do. But it's a useful thing to note.

Take into account that if they roll behind you you can also dash backwards and hypen smash, but if you missread them and they don't roll you will be open for an attack

True, but it's as you pointed out, this depends on reading someone's actions. If you can do this and pull it off, more power to you. But it's important to be wary that this is a risk. Be prepared to take necessary actions to minimize damage if things backfire.

I was just trying this, you cannot use this to kill, the dtilt sends them flying too much at high % so it might be used only to rack damage, but it's a good discovery if you ask me :/

...................................

why?

Q&A exists, please use it.

In a sense stutter step f-smash would be safer than this, because it kills @ lower %'s. For this hyphen smash @ kill %'s the opponent would go too far too be hit by it unless dtilt is fully degenerated which is not likely. And @ %'s where you may be able to reach with an instant hyphen smash you probably won't kill, also opponent's can shield this and thus punish.

I thought he meant using this if the dtilt was shielded and you predicted they would jump to get out of the dtilt trap. That alone is already risky since you can easily be punished. But if you're just trying to use it as a general strategy it's horrible >>

No, what i meant, is you can use this if your opp shields when expecting a hit, then juggle them with a Dtilt and hit them with a buffered hypensmash, it works, but it's situational

d-tilt to running u-smash is the same thing right?

if it is that's well known in socal at least... great for marth dittos cause it puts them in a bad position and gets you good percentage
