POLL: Vote for your preferred Smash Bros DLC choices!

There's quite simply no reason to put Young Link up there. Having a 3rd Link is different from having a 2nd Pikachu anyway.

While I understand that people like those characters, and some may want them upgraded to playable from Assist Trophy, I will not add them to this poll for a few reasons.

First, quite simply, is because we've gotten a good amount of results thus far, and adding those characters now would be screwing them over as it stands. We've had over 500 people vote on this poll, so those are over 500 people who wouldn't be able to vote for those specific characters. I plan on making another poll every time we get a brand new DLC character, but I probably will still not include any of those characters because of the following reason.

Second, every character you listed already has a role elsewhere beyond a trophy. While many fans out there would still like to see those characters, this poll is meant specifically for characters that are only a trophy, with nothing going beyond that. My reasoning for this stems from the fact that coding (probably lots of coding) was put into the game to program various Assist Trophies or Stage bosses, and I find it INCREDIBLY unlikely that we'd see Sakurai or the DLC team backtrack on somebody else's work. If any of those characters were planned or kept in mind for a future project, I don't think they would go as far as to put them in an important position like AT or Boss character. That's simply my opinion.

Basically, as stated in the OP, this poll contains characters that aren't disconfirmed by any means and have nothing beyond a trophy (although I put Kamek there, which is a mistake). On the next poll, there might be different choices based on the outcome for a few characters on the current poll (looking at you Reyn), so there will be some fresh things. But I will most likely not add the characters you listed.

I personally don't really understand this viewpoint. That also makes sense, considering there isn't a massive amount of coding to be done for simply a trophy as opposed to an AT or Stage Boss. Big difference here. If something changes in the future, where it becomes apparent that disconfirmed characters are upgraded to playable, then I will make the changes. But, as of right now, there is no reason to believe that that would happen.

Based on that, I will not be adding those characters to my poll.

I voted for Snake, Wolf, Lucas, Ice Climbers, Dixie Kong, King K Rool & Bayonetta.

I think Wolf, Lucas & Ice Climbers all deserve to be in because they all have loyal fanbases & none of those characters would be hard to put in; hell, Ice Climbers can easily be put into the Wii U version of the game (sorry 3DS dudes). I'm not particularly fond of Lucas or the Ice Climbers but I still feel that it's messed up that they were cut.

Donkey Kong is my second favorite Nintendo franchise after Smash, so I'm a bit angry at the lack of representation the series has this time around especially when the less popular Fire Emblem/Kid Icarus get more characters than DK. I think both Dixie & K Rool could offer unique playstyles too; however, I don't expect both of these characters to get in as DLC. Maybe one as DLC & the other as a newcomer in Smash 5.

I think Bayonetta has earned her spot as a "Nintendo" character now. I hope Nintendo seals the deal by buying the rights to her franchise from Sega, then Sakurai would have no excuse to not put her in.

Snake is my most wanted character in Smash; he was my main in Brawl (the first Smash I played) & I absolutely loved him. I especially loved the humor he brought to the game by being such an odd "fish out of water". I know some people say that Snake isn't important to Nintendo & what not... but he's important to Smash Bros, he was the first 3rd party character. Snake opened the floodgates so that Sonic, Mega Man & Pac-Man could all get in & so that video game icons like Simon Belmont, Ryu or Bomberman could make potential future appearances. I'd pay $20 for Snake & the Shadow Moses stage alone, that's how much I want him.

But Mario kinda has these things called palette swaps, and he's had them since 1999. He's also never been an Assist Trophy.

Mario's playability in 8-Player Smash has absolutely nothing to do with Waluigi being DLC.

I'd say theyre about even. Pichu has no relevence anymore, isn't even that popular a pokemon in his own generation, and there's no generation II material coming out probably ever again.

While Young Link is also super unlikely, he at least has Majora's Mask 3D coming out. I don't hink either has a shot in hell, but they should have an equal shot

I found the article on the Melee roster development not the one you mentioned, and you are right.
But that doesn't mean Young Link himself, doesn't have a chance, there's still things that he has that can justify his inclusion as a DLC character.

No they said they had to many problems during development that weren't worth the time or the resources to fix because they needed them on other aspects of the game but, once the Wii U version is out basically everything is done and so they will have the time and the resources to fix them.

I meant to say he's not that popular anymore/by the tim more DLC can be expected. Notch Eared Pichu was kind of popular, when was the arceus movie 09? So 5 years ago, 6 by the time the DLC would come out. Kind of popular 6 years ago vs. a remake of a well recived game in the present?

Thats a good idea in regards to the Mii 4th Archtype.

Mask Link is one thing, he'd be original.

But Young Link as he was in Melee? Unless we get a Melee character pack, which isn't going to happen, I'd say he's the least likely veteran to return because of the two existing Links who pretty much share the same moveset. Yes, even with MM. Not to mention he's the only Smash character that actually did get replaced, and his replacement is still included in the most recent games. Though it's not like I can quantify how unlikely he is compared to Pichu, neither have a shot in hell.

I would be rather dissatisfied if Young Link and Pichu came back with their original melee movesets, but still happy.
I really want them back, but I believe that Mask Link and a Pichu that uses Volt tackle, Iron tail and other different attacks (and maybe ditched the self damage mechanic) are not only more interesting as characters, but also have a better chance of returning.
Either way, I'd like all of the cut veterans back, so I'd be okay with them returning with the original melee movesets as well.. Just give us every smasher back, mr. Sakurai. Once a smash brother, always a smash brother.

Here's the thing. I don't care if you guys want Young Link. But I see absolutely positively 100% no reason to put him on the poll. All of this Young Link talk came mainly after MM 3D. That's not enough for him, in my opinion, to suddenly be considered likely for DLC.

I made this Poll with characters I felt had a decent enough chance to be DLC. I am aware that Kamek needs to be removed. Next poll he will be. I don't see a single GOOD reason Young Link should be added to the poll. I am of the belief that Toon Link basically IS Young Link, just in a different art style.

As it stands, I will not add him.
