Poll: American Push Back? Yes or No?

I'm saying no. Considering that they'd be missing out on the holiday season in America. Plus we've got a lot of stuff before Japan, and they confirmed a release date for us but never for Japan. We'll know pretty soon but I'm quite curious what my fellow smashers think.

No because I'll have to change my Brawl Desktop Timer. Thats like +40 more days to wait. But good that Sonic is confirmed. Well if good stuff is being added (better online, characters, and other surprises) then I guess I can wait 40 Days!

Well, I would think it would be a better strategy to have their game out for the biggest shopping period of the year to maximize initial profits, but if the game still has some kinks to work out, I rather wait and have the game working properly instead of getting an early, buggy game.

Japan's version of Christmas is like our version of Valentine's Day. There wouldn't be nearly as much need to release it in December over there.

If they delayed it here it would miss out on the holiday season, which would hurt.

Here's food for thought:

On the English Dojo underneath the trailers it does say Release Date Dec 3

BUT

If you check Japan's site it also says that it'd be released sometime in 07.

So to them this was a surprise. It's not like everyone in Japan reacted with "Oh...so that's when it's coming out here".

It says on the link that the game was DELAYED(KEY WORD DELAYED) until late January. It didn't say "Brawl in Japan release date comfirmed!!".

I'm basically trying to say that it was a shocker that it was pushed back for them.
So why in the world wouldn't it also shock us too? Because we had an exact date? I think not. But it's still up for debate.

I hope they delay it and don't try to rush the product just because of holiday season. I enjoy the competitive gameplay so I wouldn't even mind if they had to delay it until summer if there were lag issues or anything of that sort. The game looks even better with the new videos, I'm just hoping it runs very smoothly. As much as I want it ASAP, I'm willing to wait for quality.

I'm going to be very upset if the game is delayed longer than a week. It'd be a stupid move to delay it longer than Mid December, in fact I think late November would be the best time. But they do need a complete game.

As strange as it may sound, I'm perfectly fine with a delay.

People generally have a lot of stuff to do in early December.

Also, from a business perspective, Wiis are going to be sold out clear till next year anyway, so it doesnt hurt them.

This is probably not for me to say since I'm not in the US, but I wouldn't mind a delay for Brawl... if it makes a good game even better, I'm more for waiting a bit longer as it doesn't push Brawl in development hell like certain games, like Spore and Duke Nukem forever! Let's face it, Nintendo is pretty noteable for doing delays to the best games they make, so it should be worth a bit more time!

Same, I'll be ticked if it was delayed past Christmas. I just hope that it doesn't come out when I go to Hawaii around Christmas because I planned on camping out at Best Buy the night before Brawl comes out. >_>;

It hurts to wait, but it's always for the better. I definitely would want Brawl to be as polished and balanced as possible.

I don't think it's a big deal at all if they miss Christmas. Smash Bros needs no holiday to push sells. Melee is STILL selling strong on the Gamecube and Brawl will likey be selling to the end of the Wii's lifespan.

Just in case anybody needed some concrete proof that a delay for the US is certain, I've taken a little look at the Brawl website through the Internet Archive and it appears that there has been a pretty subtle change in the website... where there used to be a release date now has a big fat TBD on it. I don't know how big a delay it will be, but there will be one on the horizon, that's for sure! I'm sure it will be worth the wait in the end, though!

I really don't want it to be pushed back.. But if it'll really help this game in some way such as more online features or better character development it's better to have the fix. One month doesn't seem too bad. = /
