Obstagoon has helped me realize why people didn't like Incineroar's bipedal stance. I didn't care for Torracat or most Starters in general anyway and was fine with it cuz it was a newer Pokemon with a newer idea but Zigzagoon and Linoone have been around for 15 years and only NOW do they decide to anything with it, THIS is what they come up with and even then, the bio on Obstagoon suggests they're not gonna do anything with base Linoone. Really not a fan of it.

Morpeko is just a Pikachu wannabe that is also an Usapyon wannabe.

The Weezing buffs are nice but it's gonna take more than that to convince me this game is worth my time or money.

Can't say I was impressed by anything else. Honestly just goes to show me Pokemon has so little to offer that showing off a few monsters and the same old NPC roles is considered anything worthwhile.

Finally got some some time to share my thoughts on this new trailer.

I’m glad regional forms now extend to non-Kanto Pokemon as well. The idea behind Galarian Weezing is cool, and so is the Galarian Zigzagoon line. Galarian Zigzagoon and it’s evolution will take some getting used to, but they do remind me of the common raccoon and badgers I see most often, so bonus points on that front. Obstagoon looks decent too. Not sure if I particularly care for the new Pikachu clone though.

Bede gives a smug jerk impression, so I think there’s a chance he could be the revival of the “jerk” rival archetype we haven’t seen since Gen 2. Marnie seems cool. Judging by what we know of Team Yell (yep, their reveal validated the leak even more), something tells me she might be the daughter of the team’s leader, or some other close affiliation to him/her, hence why Team Yell are avid fans of her.

Not much to say on the new Pokejobs feature. I guess I’d like to see more of it.

The reveal of the Galarian forms does make you wonder who else will get the treatment. Any chance of a Galarian Teddiursa and/or Ursaring?

Assuming either of those Pokemon aren't cut to begin with (if not, then good) and considering the fact Stufful and Bewear have proven themselves as far more marketable (which is part of what is taken into account with the selection of Pokemon in SWSH), I have my doubts. It'd still be very nice for them to get one because they among many other Pokemon really need buffs to not just remain forgettable low tier filler monsters (which of course Megas helped remedy a little but that's not an option anymore).

Yeah what's quite sad about Ursaring is that it has the moveset and attack power to take advantage of Guts, but it only gets STAB for Facade. Combine that with its base 55 speed, and it's rather difficult for it to sweep faster threats.

Now, let's say that Ursaring does get a Galar variant. I could see it being a Dark/Fighting-type, and the reasoning for that would have to do with intense competition against rivals like Pangoro and Bewear. Even Galar Teddiursa (also Dark/Fighting) have to be very competitive at an early age, as they must compete with Pancham and Stufful for the same needs (such as food sources). Because of the intense competition, the Teddiursa and Ursaring in Galar have had to transition to a primarily nocturnal lifestyle (which is where the Dark-typing comes into play) to reduce the risk of fights against their rivals.

Anyway, when compared to the national Ursaring, the Galar Ursaring would have higher attack (increased from 130, to 140) and speed (increased from 55, to 85), but its special attack would be weaker (decreased from 75, to 35) as a drawback. Also, being Dark/Fighting would equal STAB for Close Combat and Crunch (or Throat Chop), but you do lose STAB for Facade, and gain a very nasty 4x weakness to Fairy-type attacks. Of course, Galar Teddiursa and Ursaring would have access to attacks that their national variants can't learn, such as Poison Jab.

I really like Marnie. She's like a female Gladio. I do hope she's the first female character that can make it to Top 4 or Top 2 of Galar league in the upcoming anime. We've seen guys being champion of the pokemon league and also being a top coordinator for the grand festival so I want a female character to make it to the semi-finals or finals of the anime Pokemon league.

New Sword and Shield video came out today, this one featuring Shigeru Ohmori showing off what looks to be the first town you'll come across in Galar. Said town is where Professor Magnolia's research lab is, and he also talks a bit about the railway stations.

Outside of the trailer, they also confirmed that Pokemon Global Link will not support Pokemon Sword and Shield. Viewing rankings, distribution regulations, and the event calendar will be done through the Pokemon HOME app on iOS and Android starting from early 2020, and joining online competitions will be done directly from the games.

Bumping this thread to share the latest bit of Sword and Shield news that was revealed during today's Direct:

We have a better glimpse at the trainer customization features, two more new Pokemon revealed (a Ghost-type teapot Pokemon and a cormorant Pokemon), the new Amie/Refresh known as Pokemon Camp, making curry, and League cards.

I'll share my thoughts later.

Disappointed that Sirfetch'd is still not shown. But that bird was in the Affleck leak, so it's one step closer

The elegant battlefield.
Cormorant is nice. The tea Pokemon seems like another Pokemon that just seems will be labeled as absurd in the end. Meet this regions Klefki everyone.

The customization is certainly the best part. It's good that it's getting a little more personal. Shame that you can't actually put character into your player.

As for camp, eh, it's cute, but it loses a lot of charm when you realize that you might not be able to do it with your favorite. Honestly, it's just PKMN Amie 3.

Curry on rice... what are the benefits of it? Does it do stat changes to Pokemon or something? If it's just supposed to be cute/funny... personally not a fan.

According to Serebii, curry can boost a Pokemon's friendship, heal them, or even boost their experience. The effects that will happen on them are based on the ingredients you use.

Very little of the pokemon introduced look like they are going to evolve. Seems like this is going to be a generation of ****mon

Now all that remains to be seen is what Shield gets in place of Sirfetch'd. I don't really want to believe they'd give this to Sword and then say 'screw you' to Shield players. Of course, some do already feel that the games have done that to a majority of the playerbase, so who knows.
Whatever it is, it's probably going to be a ghost pokemon.

I'm hoping it's some weird evolution of Dunsparce

---

In other news, I'm sure you heard about the pokemon app camera datamine
- Scorbunny: Usagi1
- Sobble: Chameleon1
- Grookey: Gorilla1
- Yamper: Inu1
- Rolycoly: Sekitan1
- Wooloo: Wool1
- Corviknight: Gcommondori3
- Alcremie: Gcream2
- Morpeko: Pospika
- Polteageist: Teacup2

It gives numbers and letters in addition to pokemon's codenames, implying some pokemon evolve that haven't shown yet

Morepeko's name is the only one without a number, which may mean that pokemon without numbers don't evolve at all.

If the pokemon has a G ins front of it's codenmane, it has a Gigantomax form

In addition to the above, the person found that Duralodon doesn't seem to evolve or have a Gigantomax form. And Dreadnaw may have a prevo

https://www.gameinformer.com/2019/10/01/exp-share-is-baked-into-pokemon-sword-and-shield

EXP Share is confirmed to remain on the whole game with no option to turn it off and all party members gain EQUAL EXP rather than the previous 50%

Not only does it remove more freedom for their to be any form of artificial difficulty as ORAS and XY became very easy with EXP Share on but this really doesn't work at all because of how Pokemon is designed.

For reference, I suggest you play other monster collectors or RPGs in general. In alot of those games, even normal encounters scale hard, AI actually targets your weaknesses and you generally have 3 or even 4 allies out in front at a time against just as many if not more enemies. What's more is that level growth in those games is generally very slow compared to Pokemon's.

Pokemon games tend to have very low scaling and the fast level growth doesn't help either hence why the main story "bosses" of the Elite 4 and Champion can beaten with ease in your 40s or 50s, AI can be very, very dumb and lenient and the general 1v1 battle system Pokemon uses can easily be argued as extremely braindead compared to the general 3v3 of other games.

I'm not going to sugarcoat it.

This was an absolutely terrible idea.

The funny thing is, triple battles used to exist, but they were taken out after the 6th generation; this was most likely due to the amount of 3D Pokemon models causing the 6th generation titles to experience lag.

I heard that Sword/Shield will have 18 Gyms of each type. (Dark type gym might be possible.)
Yeah, the Idea is that there's "major League" and "minor League" gyms probably meaning there's 8 actual gyms and 10 more type specialists you fight along the way

Yeah, they pretty much implied in the interview it is automatic and you have no control over it. I. E. You can NOT turn it off.

I also find it ironic these guys didn't seem to consuder that some people ENJOY a hard game.

The funny thing is, triple battles used to exist, but they were taken out after the 6th generation; this was most likely due to the amount of 3D Pokemon models causing the 6th generation titles to experience lag.
Which really wouldn't be an issue if the models had a far smaller polygon count like tons of other monster collectors that use 3v3 do.

I'm not getting the games. But if I could I would get Pokemon Sword Scorbunny is already one of my favourite Pokemon have a feeling it's final evolved form might be one of my favorite top 10 Pokemon but I'll reserve judgement till I see it's evolved forms.

Also love the Galar region and it's UK based feel.

The Raid Battles, Wild Area and Dynamax is really cool so loving everything so far.

So in addition to Galarian Ponyta (a Shield exclusive) that was revealed just a few days ago, we got a new trailer today that revealed more Gigantamax Pokemon:

Meh, can't say this update was particularly interesting. Feels like more Gen 1 shilling. Seems like Gigantamax Pikachu was confirmed from the leak after all in that it would look like OG Pikachu. Too bad I can't get that or Gigantamax Eevee because I didn't purchase Let's Go.

Butterfree getting a Gigantamax is cool though since it previously missed out on the Mega train.

Also, it may seem like the trailer that should've revealed the starter evolutions, but I'm okay with starter evolutions not being revealed yet. The first stage evolutions are usually revealed very close to the release date, while the final evolutions are not revealed prior to the release date (Alola was the only exception to that so far, but Sun and Moon's promotional trailers basically leaked all the new Alola 'mons prior to the games' release, and that didn't give us much of surprises to experience firsthand when we finally played those games).

Gigantamax Charizard, Pikachu, Eevee, Mewoth, and Butterfree are cool.

I like the designs and I'm fine if this is the final batch of news.

Hopefully Pikachu/Eevee have access to the same moves/stats as they did in Let's Go.

Butterfree looks awesome and is long deserved. Charizard looks cool, but I'm not exactly ready to say it's a good alternative to it's Mega Evolutions.

The elegant battlefield.
While I'm still not necessarily a fan of Gigantamaxing or Dynamaxing (despite that basically being Jigglypuff's final smash), I'm glad that Butterfree got one. It really got screwed when Beedrill got a mega and it didn't. Would've preferred a Bug/Psychic Mega, but whatever I suppose.

Pikachu and Eevee... I guess were inevitable? But Charizard... why does this exist. I almost think of it as a combination of Mega Charizard X and Y design wise, and I'm just not a fan. It's more generation 1 pandering (which, I'm somewhat OK with, so long as it's weak pokemon like Parasect getting boosts, not Charizard who didn't need one, and as long as other generations' weak Pokemon get boosts), and Venusaur and Blastoise weren't shown to get one, so it feels specifically feels like pandering to the golden starter of the first generation. Meowth was an odd choice, considering it got a regional form last generation, but I guess this is something we should expect to see in the anime, huh? Meowth, that's right.

All in all, still leaning towards Dyna/Gigantamaxing being a gimmick.

If you guys don't want to be spoiled, don't open any spoiler tags, as Sword and Shield are in the process of being leaked. There may be even leaks more coming up, so watch out! Chances are it's either a stolen review copy or a store broke street date, like last year with Smash Ultimate.

I'm honestly not trying to troll when I say these are some of the least inspired Poke designs I've ever seen.

I actually like Grookey's final evo. If Scorbunny's final form sucks I'll probably be going Grookey.

I heard Scorbunny's final evolution is fire/electric type. Wonder if that's true. We haven't really seen what it looks like, but we do know about Grookey and Sobble's final evolutions.

Grookey's finel evo just looks clunky to me. I imagine he'll be a slow physical bruiser with high ATK and DEF but trashy Spec. stats. Not really my style. I prefer high speed sweepers.

Saw the evolutions and sons of the new Pokemon I like them all!

Won't spoil anything but most of them are awesome!
