POKEMON ART CONTEST

Hello, fellow Poke Center regulars! My school's gamers club recently had a Pokemon fan art contest, and I said to myself, "Hmm, why hasn't the PC had an art contest?" (Spriting aside, that is.)

So here you go. Follow this version's theme, submit a peice, and await thy judgement. There will be two judging categories: Pubic adjudication (in which the general public is free to come in and vote on which peice they think is the best-fitting for each category) and a private judge critique. In the end, winners from each categories will be announced, and the judges will name their favorite peices.

Voting Categories

In the style of Draw With Your Power (my SSB art contest), there are 4 voting categories: Digital, Hand-Made, Creative, and Overall.

Digital: Art made with Photoshop, MS Paint, or with the help of anything digital falls into this category.

Also known as the fancy, expensive image-editting software category.

Hand-Made: Art made with physical materials, like pens, pencils, or clay, on a physical canvas, like computer paper, fall under this category. Unlike in DWYP, submissions created with tablets in Photoshop (or a similar program) will not fall under this category.*

Also known as the poor man's category.

Creative: In this category, vote for whichever peice you feel is the most creative (if, perhaps, not the best drawn).

Also known as the bizarre category.

Overall: Vote for the peice you think is the best, standing above the rest.

Also known as the Spire category.

* Yes, I understand that most digital art is technically hand-drawn, but this category is to insure that people without access to image-editting software aren't left in the dust by Photoshop Extraordinaires.

Rules

If you plan on stealing other's artwork and submitting it as your own...

If you plan on submitting nude or otherwise indecent images...

If you plan on flaming other's artwork...

GET THE MUK OUTTA HERE. Anyone who breaks these rules WILL face infractions.

Also, submissions must be submitted by 11:59 PM, GMT-4 ON THE DUE DATE.

In order to prevent voting periods from dragging on, you cannot vote for yourself.

Submissions must be created for the contest. No existing pictures.

When submitting, tell us how you made your peice.

Judges

Each contest will have 3 judges. At the end of each contest, they will personally and individually critique each peice and rate them on the following:

Craftmanship

Adherence to Prompt

Style

Concept

The critiques will be posted publically, at the same time.

QUESTION: Can judges submit artwork in this contest?
ANSWER: Yes, but they cannot critique themselves.

The Judges

1. Zook the Swinub
2. Mewter the Grand Pianist
3. Spire the Spinosaurus

There is currently 1 other spot open for a judge. PM me if you wish to be a judge, and tell me why. And yes, each judge gets a title.

THE PROMPT: RED AND BLUE

In honor of the first Pokemon games to make it out of Japan, this version's prompt is the Red and Blue games.

THE DEADLINE: 3-28-10

THE SUBMISSIONS

Best of luck!

Ill start this off with my hand drawn picture of a vulpix which made pokemon Blue the better choice from Red

Hand- made category:

Also a photoshoped version of the same picture

Digital category:

Oops, I forgot to add a few rules. Peices must be created specifically for this contest. So sorry.

That digital Vulpix is incredibly ******, I must say. It looks like it could be from the TCG. :)

But you didn't

Does the hand-made artwork have to be drawn, or can you make it out of anything in any form (such as a sculpture) and then submit a picture of it instead? I'm assuming you can due to your mentioning of clay, but I thought I'd ask just in case. I can't do anything with pen and paper, but I know I can do something with other elements.

I'm obviously the second judge as you've banned me from submitting.

Let's hope Zook replies before it's up.
Depending on his answer, I'll know how long to procrastinate!

Nice music by the way.

It says at the bottom of the OP:

3-28-10

It just shows how carefully and completely we read things here in the PC.

Charmander and Pikachu travel to mount moon via Route 3!

Pikachu somehow sees a lazy butterfly-scribble!
Charmander has his arm out for some reason!

Digital category, please. Drawn with paint tool sai.
.....It's not too sketchy, is it?

I like the artwork so far as well, especially the Charmander.

Charmander would be proud. (The member of the Pokemon, I do not know)

so, only the 1st 151 count?
Thats for you to interpret. :)

Anyways, I updated the OP to clarify a few things.

When submitting peices, you do not submit them into categories; you just tell us how you made it. For example, you can't submit your peice into the creative category.

I'm liking the stuff so far, guys. Keep it up!

I just had inspiration from the games to know what I'm gonna draw now :D

Now I just hope my drawing abilities don't fail me

That is hardcore dude. I would like to see that done to every Pokemon 2nd Gen and onward. It would be quite a task to pursue, but would be so worth it.

Tery: Charmander! What does the PokeDex say about his Pokemon level/

Charmander: It's...it's...it's OVER NINE THOUSAND!

Seriously though, awesome job.
