So looking through Bulbapedia this article popped up, and kind of interested me.

I have NO idea what he would mean by action, but how could this possibly even work out in the Pokemon games? What kind of action would you guys like to see in the Pokemon series? Or would you just prefer the same formula?

I wouldn't mind a bit of action, especially for some Wii titles that hopefully get produced soon. I've always wanted to see some Real Time RPG strategy in the games. (not like mystery dungeon, just a bit more strategical than that. Maybe like Zelda) It would add a bit of excitement to the games, and probably more difficulty in the games.
The main demographic is kids though, so this could end up a disaster in the end because I could see it being too easy.

Thoughts/concerns?

When I hear Pokemon and action, I can't help but think of a Pokemon fighting game, kinda like Smash or Street Fighter. I always used to think that it would be a really cool idea, I mean, what little kid wouldn't like that?

Something like LoZ would be kind of neat too, but I can't really imagine how that would look like.

If they permanently change Pokemon's main style from turn-based to action, I will be very upset.

I know there are people looking for a change like that, but I'm not. I got into Pokemon in the first place for a reason.

It's hard to state an exact opinion without a clue what they mean by "action", exactly.

I'd like it to have a battle system like the ATB system in Final Fantasy XIII. Would be sexy.

My best guess is that they would do something similar to mystery dungeon. Every place you battle (including gyms) has a custom "arena". You still have the 6 pokemon, but they run around in the arena, doing different attacks with different ranges and such. Pokemon with higher speed run faster, letting them set up their attacks more easily. Moves like hyper beam would have lots of end lag, moves like solar beam would have lots of startup lag, moves like extreme speed would have almost none. I think the DS could run something like that decently... Although whether I'd like it or not is really up in the air.

Hm... the best way I see "action" happening in Pokemon, is to turn EVASION into an actual stat (we already have 6, 7 won't hurt).

In battles, Pokemon would freely run about the screen at their own will. In the DS, for example, they would run about the top screen. On the bottom screen you would give them commands as normal, like in D/P. Navigating menus for your bag would simulate real-time digging through a backpack, checking your team when you want to switch out, and deciding how and when to attack. Nothing like a well timed flamethrower. Each attack would have tons of new characteristics then... such as range. Your target would have to be close enough to yours in order for some attacks to work. Then all that dodge nonsense may actually make sense.

There sort of is one, but I can't for the life of me remember what it's called. I think I still have it on my laptop.

It only has six pokes, though, and it's pretty basic. :( It's fun-ish.

what if it was 3D and on the wii that might get you more ideas. like a 3d mystery dungeon game, hopeless they don't try pokemon ranger

Pokemon Wii Snap would be great with the wiimote setup, u cud probably evn hold it sideways to simulate the camera...
