Confession time. I just put my laptop on the TV to enjoy some SGDQ and revisited this thread. On that screen, the color differences are much more distinguishable. I guess my laptop display is bad...

So how long until the PMDT figures out how to change fire/ice into light/dark with the same properties on the Light and Dark suits?

I think the reason why they haven't yet is due to file-size limit. I'm not saying it's impossible to do, but it would limit her file-size, reducing the chance for any future gameplay gimmicks for Samus and Zero Suit Samus, which is sad.

The Oracle of Ages/Seasons concept isn't only weird because of the collar but also too simple, and the art style of the Wind Waker Ganons (Ganondorf and Phantom Ganon) would class too much with his other alts. OoT Phantom Ganon is too similar to OoT Ganon (it's pretty much OoT Ganon with a mask) so I don't think 4 slots should go towards him.

Well. This is interesting.
Someone proposed this as a semi-alt for Toon Ganondorf:

It's a bit weird, but not bad.

It seems implied that the extra room could go to extra characters. If unused, however, I wouldn't mind bringing back that brown Twilight Ganondorf. Seeing this Phantom Ganon with inspiration from the Melee design, I could see a Phantom Ganon semi alt. The best idea, I think, if the slots didn't go to a new character, would be Hyrule Warriors Ganondorf with his three other Hyrule Warriors recolours. If his hair isn't long enough to give him a cape, they could easily add one of their own, or give him a well-deserved haircut.

And for Yoshi, I would love to see Yarn Yoshi recolours, or Boshi with a Yoob-themed recolour.

If Yoshi gets extra colors, Boshi is pretty much confirmed. I think we're still missing a few Yoshi colors too.

I think concept art Ganondorf has some cool attributes, but looks odd overall. Not to doubt the team, but I don't think the strange facial hair would translate well to a 3D model. WW would require too many liberties to fit and I think it would be strange to mix art styles across one character. OoT already got plenty of love. A lot of people want the Warriors outfit which admittedly would look awesome, but they'd have to figure out a work around for the cape and hair which probably isn't worth it for a costume.

But how could you say this is too simple?! I think this would look stellar in 3D and I feel like that design lends itself to a cape. The only 2D Zelda love in PM is Temple, but that isn't even unique to the mod. This would fill that void. That and/or Ezlo

Edit to spoiler that image and just to geek out and say I've never wanted a costume as bad as this. Crazy how much can happen in one day.

A lot of people want the Warriors outfit which admittedly would look awesome, but they'd have to figure out a work around for the cape and hair which probably isn't worth it for a costume.

But they already have a work-around. Just do the same thing they did with Shadow Peach in reverse, rig his hair to his cape bones.

I'm in favour of giving him a haircut and designing a new cape, because I honestly hate his long hair. I'm gonna get a lot of spite for that, but it works, WOO!! He already has a cape for his butt, they could take inspiration from that. Having hair as long as his cape would be weird, it may be long, but not that long.


I hope that the Project M Team finds a way to give Ganondorf costume-specific final smashes. Then we already have one for Hyrule Ganondorfs.

Hair is both possible and easy to do, but it'd have to be really long, not as huge as I thought though. How would they rig Hyrule Warrior Ganon's skirt?

You are, but in the process of doing it so often you seem incapable of seeing other people's viewpoints on this as being equally valid. The accuracy to the artwork that the costume is based on is way more important to most of us than the canon source of Roy's fire powers. A nameless sword as you say, one that may feel wrong to you but may be equally capable of fire attacks for all we know.

Samus fans (and this is an apt analogy whether or not you consider it a core of the character) may twinge a bit to see Light and Dark Samus using the plasma and ice beams instead of the correct beams from Metroid Prime: Echoes. Which is a very important plot point and the reason these suits are used in the first place, but if given the choice between using these accurate costumes with a standard attack set or not having them at all, the fomer is preferable. I know you suggested a third option, change the sword into some kind of Sword of Seals cosplay, but I don't see that happening.

In other words, it isn't a blasphemous attack on Roy's character if he uses his artwork sword. Variety is great.

I understand that people aren't seeing things from your perspective, and that it can be frustrating. For us, it's just a sword. To you, it's part of Roy's character, a character you love! Or like, as a friend, whatever, I won't judge.

Just because we disagree, doesn't mean we should make a fit about it! Your logic is sound, your reasoning's good, and in all honesty, I love your idea to make his iconic blade match the visual style of Awakening, with a little creative touches from the team. You've made great arguments, but we all need to move on eventually. Just like Romedogg and his Melee Peach, Condeecas and his Meowser, Nanobuds with his certain "issue", me with my Mr. L problems... And other recolours... And orange Mewtwo... And Ganondorf's haircuts. I got a lot of problems in general, probably the most out of all of us, haha!

We're all still Project M fans who love, and this thread is perfect for the important details like that, but we shouldn't let those details tear our community apart.

alright, look. your ridiculous patronizing nature aside, I will concede that I'm up in arms about this because, yes - I do quite like Roy as a character (the latest translation patch his game had sure helped here) and really love what PM's done with him to make him viable in smash, but the big thing is I've seen this alt coming for ages now and have really REALLY been looking forward to it. considering the way the other two FE character's weapons were largely untouched (even with Ike; eventually he ends up with Alondite as well as Ragnell anyway) in their alts I though nothing of it for Roy. With the Sword of Seals being a big part of him and his portrayal in Smash to this day I expected it'd be a no-brainer for it to stay. The FE fan in me is just... kinda mad, admittedly perhaps somewhat irrationally, that it's just being batted to the side apparently without much thought.

Yeah, I noticed that earlier, does Marth's blade have any neat abilities like Roy's? I don't understand why it wouldn't be changed for the costume, though I've played very little Fire Emblem. I like what they did with Alondite though.

Falchion is the name of Marth's blade - in Fire Emblem it is the legendary weapon Forged from a fang of Naga, the leader of the Divine Dragons, and is usually a pivotal tool used against the Dark dragons that assail the realm that Marth's FE games take place in. think of it as:

Falchion -> Dark dragon (Medeus, Grima, ect.)

I don't see why not! I don't main Marth, but I think the colours only have an affect on his side-special, indicating where you are in the swipey combo thing. I don't think the Development Team's super limited in terms of his file size specifically, though it'd be weird that Marth would have such special treatment, and not every other Smash character. I think the Project M Team might be waiting to apply such subtle visual effects until they've figured out every possible gameplay effect, gimmick, and gameplay stuffs. Marth probably doesn't have much need for things like that, but you never know!

As for Bowser costumes there are a lot to chose from and I would like to see him get some more love distinctive in game appearances wise. I mean hell Samus got mad love in that department. So idk does he have room for only 3 more?

The problem with the smash 4 run is that hunched over people don't just start running upright like they're in the olympics lol. Although if they tweaked the animation a bit to make it look like Bowers having a lil trouble running or something it could work
