Ya... so I just found out this morning that Sony is making a game called Playstation All Stars Battle Royale, they straight out said they're a slight copy it off the smash bros series.

Here's the information with some gameplay footage:

What do you guys think of this? I think it might be pretty good, but by the looks of it they have health bars? I cant really tell...

They don't have health bars. It's super bars. You have to charge up power for a super (level 1, 2 or 3) and then you can kill with these supers - This is the ONLY way to kill.

idk, unlike smash this actually looks like a pure party game. They talk about depth and it being competitive themselves though so maybe it will be....

You can only KO with specials.... I think that's a bit ridiculous... Smash knew what they were doing when they made it a ring out

I think we should hold off any conclusive judgments for when the game actually comes out. Though I do look forward to 71 pages of debate on what the stage list should be over at the Sony forums.

The stages look like your typical banned stage in smash, lol.

:phone:
when they first announced The LBP stage, I called it banned from day one because of the Buzz item.

and the combat system sounds more ThrillKillish then Smash like.

but like everyone said, best to wait until all the modes are shown before casting judgement. Paul Gale said a near complete version will be at E3,so best to wait until then.

also going by leaked images, it's Fight Stick compatible. interesting...

It looks clunky but I'll give it a chance if there's other modes that will make it "better". I already don't like the idea of having to build a super meter in order to KO someone.

I'd rather play Punch Time Explosion. And I'd rather play brawl than that. If there's a demo I'd download it and give it a chance but from the gameplay videos I've seen it looks like anything that connects just sends you in a random direction and all the stages looks like Hanenbow.

How is this melee disc?

super meters is a ******** feature

colored outlines on those characters is ********

they all look super small, the camera pans out way too far

super meters is a ******** implementation

overall looks like another very decorated piece of trash. that is, they made the wrong decisions for the foundation of the game. no matter how much polish they add afterwards it's not going to help their game become anything special.

super meters is ********

in before lock though

^I ****ing wholeheartedly agree. Did I just agree with Varist? Well...whatever. If they're going to have a mash-up fighter they're going to get **** from people who played smash, not us per se. I really don't care if they do it, in fact I think they should have completely ripped off the way smash works to make a satisfying experience. At this point, they just put kratos and parapa in an LBP make map....that's al this game is. And no one at Sony seemed to wonder if these characters could mesh, they all look to different, from dark to horrendously light. The darkest character we've got is Samus but in Smash she's just treated as her model, none of the backstory of darkness comes with her and so she can be in the same world as someone like kirby. But the guy from twisted metal doesn't look well with Fat Princess in an LBP map.

I thought Smash Balls were cool. They just put them in a ****ty game.

It also wouldn't hurt if they just spawned in the center periodically instead of randomly spawning then flying around in an attempt to screw you over.

After watching the game play, I definitely don't think everyone should count it out so quickly. Everyone knows these demo videos always showcase the most incompetent players, and with such a unique style game that is brand new with no prequels or anything, there could EASILY be a lot of depth in what we saw. I doubt it will be a solid competitive title or anything, but it may very well have a skill gap depending on the details of the mechanics.
