Hello everyone! This is a Sheik player from Finland and now I am asking some questions about Sheik. And yes... You can just say: "Go look other topics" or something like that, but I think it is easier with this.

Here is the answers:

1. What I should NEVER do with Sheik? Is there any moves that I should avoid to use?

2. What are counter pic stages for Sheik? And which characters are good against Sheik and which characters are bad?

3. Usually I sould learn and use most of the advance techniques, but which of them are essential?

Thx for your help in advance! I'd appreciate your help really much.

Die..

Is there any moves that I should avoid to use?
Taunt..

2. What are counter pic stages for Sheik?
Anything you're good on.

And which characters are good against Sheik and which characters are bad?
Puff & Peach > Sheik
Sheik = Sheik
Other characters < Sheik

3. Usually I sould learn and use most of the advance techniques, but which of them are essential?
Like usually, all of them.. :embarrass

Thx for your help in advance! I'd appreciate your help really much.
On a serious note, watching vids would answer pretty much all of your questions..

There's no way anyone can answer this seriously. Though the obvious answer is Sheiks forward B.

2. What are counter pic stages for Sheik? And which characters are good against Sheik and which characters are bad?
I was serious when I answered this. Sheik is good on nearly any stage, so you should base your counterpick on your opponents character and playing style.

And like I said in my previous post, Sheik has trouble with Puff & Peach, but pretty much beats everyone else..(maybe even with Fox, but that's up for debate in PAL)

3. Usually I sould learn and use most of the advance techniques, but which of them are essential?
Learn everything..

Thx for your help in advance! I'd appreciate your help really much.
Watch my Pound 4 videos when they're out =D?

Agreed with the dude above me

for the questions you ask and almost all beginners with a character, the best thing to do is watch videos and see what other people do.

1. The obvious answer is DOWN B. never use this. ever. If you're really far from the edge and want to use it for recovery purposes then thats the only time. But even if you make it back you'll most likely get killed by a charged smash or something. So yeah don't down b unless you want to mindgame your opponent by making them laugh really hard and throwiing them off their game.

also forward smash is very rarely used with shiek, so try to avoid that one. Better to approach with dash attack/ JC grab / an aerial of some kind / a tilt.. oh whatever just pretty much anything other than f smash lol

I'm not fantastic at using sheik, or any character for that matter :p but i find that on heavier characters, forward tilt relly works well especially bowser. i can normally keep it up for a while, though spamming is not advised. i also like neutral air attack, it's fast and stays out for a while. fsmash isn't the best, although its strong, its easily escapable. obviously use a lot of needles as they're really good for depleting projectiles and stopping your opponents advances. hope i helped :D

Fsmash ***** the unsuspecting only if they're not quick enough to CC it. seriously, it's slow and easy to CC grab before the strong part. I recommend never using that.

What you're really asking though, is "how do I play bread and butter sheik?" So, uh:
1) grab all the time
2) dthrow
3) edgeguard with backairs and dsmashes generally, or run off and hit people with your leg or your hand
4) nair oos keeps people off your nuts
5) ftilt beats almost every approach in the game spaced properly
6) needles are sometimes good. needlegrab works on most people.

edit: if you're used to another character, get used to WDing for spacing instead of DDing. it's weird at first.

@ Teba: Assuming you mean the needle cancel in mid air, i.e, needle cancel --> ledge grab, it's simple.

Press Z.

Will interrupt the "charging" of your needles, and return you to a neutral position in the air, where you can grab the ledge, aerial, etc.

Yeah I meant that. So it's that simple?
I just run towards the edge, jump, I start to "reload" the needles (B) and then by pressin Z my Sheik turns and grabs from the edge? :O

Let's use an example. Say you knock Marth off the stage, left of Dreamland64. You knocked him out with an f-air, and are now running towards the ledge to do the needle --> ledge grab.

1.) Run towards the left
2.) Jump (does not matter if it's full, or short hop)
3.) Tap right, immediately followed by B to charge needles. This will reverse you, making you face the stage while you charge needles.
4.) Tap Z to cancel charge
5.) Profit off of the needle --> ledge grab.

Obviously, reverse this if you're edge-guarding the right side of the stage.

There's more you can do with this trick (Needle Cancelling) then just a fancy way to edgehog. I.e, if you constantly short hop --> needle grab or the like, your opponent will eventually pick up on this, and wait inside their shield to punish you. Use this to your advantage! As soon as they see you charge and they shield, cancel the charge --> followup of your choice, such as an fastfalled aerial or a waveland --> grab. Get creative.

In my humble opinion,

Puff > Sheik
Fox > Sheik

Everyone else < Sheik (maybe in PAL peach > sheik)

Amsah is just really good at the Fox matchup / really good in general.

edit - Then again, I'm pretty bad at the matchup myself.

I think Sheik can handle Fox. But yeah: Puff > Sheik.

If someone has problems vs bowser with sheik...then they have problems.

Hi again!

****! I am going to a smash tournament and I just have to learn to use tech-chasing. Can someone help? Is there any tutorial videos or can someone just explain how it goes? Because I do tech-chasing like this:

1. Attack to my opponent. Opponent techs.
2. I stand in my place and start to run when he/she is going to get up and grap again.

But is there any better way and faster way to do it?

Well boostgrabbing (dash attack cancelled with grab) should give you more range on that next grab. Often you probably have to guess rather than react in PAL, maybe unless you play against falcon. I personally also just react faster if i'm already moving so i chase better even if i guessed wrong.

On a sidenote since it didn't seem to be explained before the normal shieldtriggers work just fine for cancelling a needlecharge. Never heard of people using z for that before.

Mostly depends on how he used the fair.

Double jumping then fairing nothing doesn't actually give you any distance.

So fair is probably a defensive measure or to try to knock someone off the edge.
