it's a major improvement. the vast majority of matchups should be in the 4-6 to 6-4 range. i could see almost any character winning a major bbrawl tourney...but those don't exist yet, hah. it's not perfect, obviously, there is still more input needed from top level players such as yourself since there's some changes that could use a second look...but it's really quite good right now. a lot funner to play in a "serious" manner than normal brawl. for sure.

You can really only play duelist with snake? I don't know what other characters you'd use.

I wish I could have gone... I wanted to see how Link stacked up in Balanced Brawl. And wow, record low attendence for Phase . =(
This is what I was thinking. If you look at the general attendance of Phase, it has been declining each time. :( :( :( :( :( There were so many people at my first Phase (#5). You know what it is? You need more Melee! :D

It was because A-kon was that same weekend. I know like half a dozen people that probably would have come if they hadn't gone to A-kon, lol.

I've complained to the Balanced Brawl community about it. A lot of them just replied with stuff like "he needed the nerf" or "seems fine to me"

I'll talk to more peeps about it.

Honest to goodness I'm perfectly fine with the down smash nerf. There are other ways to kill, obviously, and it made me rethink my strategy and made me play harder so I enjoy it for doing that.

If there is a way to correct it so that the knockback from his grounded shuttle loop isn't changed from regular to balanced that would be ideal, IMO. It's easy to predict and punish that and it doesn't kill until roughly the same percents as the down smash does in the current Balanced Brawl.

Also - adjusting Metaknight's forward tilt to have more knockback at early percentages and be effected more by diminishing returns would be a good idea. I felt like almost half of my attacks against Zac were forward tilts because it's easy to combo with at early percents and the spacing on it is amazing. More knockback at low percents means fewer 0-40+ starts on your opponent, higher effect from diminishing returns means it will never kill. This turns the move in to a useful spacing tool at mid percents rather than a go-to move the whole time.

Adding knockback/damage to his down tilt overall may be a also good idea, allowing for fewer frames for Metaknight to run in and punish after a down tilt would free up options for his opponent.

As it stands I feel like Metaknight was more like the posterboy for nerf magazine than a balancing act and they could definitely do more work on him.

This is good discussion. Thanks, these sort of thoughts are perfect.

Most specials are different attacks entirely aerial vs. on the ground, including shuttle loop. They can be altered independently. I'll look at the KO %s of grounded shuttle loop and d-smash more closely: a vertical move like grounded SL is going to vary more by stage and enemy floatiness though, so it intrinsically varies more across matchups and is more tricky to consider.

D-tilt was already considered for change slightly due to being one of those d-tilts that still psuedo-locks in corners. Some like G&W and DK are impossible to fix without redoing the whole move, but MK is reasonable to tweak.

Also, <3 videos. I'll probably post again after I finish watching them all.
