Sakurai could have chosen those ones for any reason, it could have had more than one character suggestion in it, he could have liked that they wrote it in a clever style. He could have just picked some random ones, could have liked their username or he could have liked the idea of Geno as a character, we don't know so the poll shouldn't be cited as a source for anything really.

GOD ****** THANK YOU!!! The poll is hardly the be-all-end-all for gauging at a character's chances. He could've chosen those letters for ANY REASON! Sakurai could've been like, "WTF!? Geno!?" for all we know. He could've withheld revealing all the letters with the most requested characters like what he did with Sonic. (Never showed up on poll, yet he was the most-requested 3rd party character according to Miyamoto) We'll never know, especially considering how unpredictable he is. Case in point, Pokemon Trainer, who was never on the poll but still got in. Besides, a good chunk of character's that showed up on the poll were, quite frankly, crap choices anyway, and I doubt they were seriously considered.

The Mario series already has it's most important characters. Mario, Luigi, Bowser, and Peach. If more characters are added then they shouldn't be playable. Bowser Jr. and Geno should be Assist Trophies at best.

4 reps IS good enough. We don't need more.

I agree. But if we do get a new Mario character I think it should be Toad. . .it's like the 5th most well known and popular Mario character out-side the main 4.

Toad really should of been first on the list to become a playable character ( and not just Peach's *****) He's my favorite Mario Kart Racer, my favorite player in Mario Tennis for the N64. I really don't think Bowser Jr. is more important than Toad, oh well only time will tell.

Hero/Heroine: Mario, Luigi, Donkey Kong, Link, Samus, Kirby etc...
Sidekick/Damsel in Distress/Rival: Metaknight, Diddy Kong, Peach
Villian: Bowser, Ganondorf.

Since Mario has filled all of this there really isn't need for more.

Without counting Wario and Yoshi who have thier own franchises respectivley, I think 6 reps would be a good number. 6 out of 40+ characters, I mean it is the most popular series.

Villian: Bowser, Bowser Jr.

Do you honestly think that Sakurai will give the world's best selling video game franchise of all time, Nintendo's flagship series only four characters? Expect a minimum of 5.

Why add more!? I already said it has it's most important characters in. We don't need anymore playable characters from the Mario franchise.

Besides they can use others for AT's or Bosses. I still feel that 4 characters for the Mario series is good enough. Same with Pokemon. Pikachu, Jigglypuff, PT, and Mewtwo is perfect.

Yes, 4 reps is good enough and we don't need more, but Mario has lots of other characters that would help represent the franchise. You can expect more reps for Mario because it is the most popular series on the planet and they would want to represent it the best they can.

As far as I'm concerned if any more characters show up they'll be Assist trophies, in the background, regular trophies, or bosses.
