The ruleset has been confirmed for a while. Changing it so close to the event...?

Thaen again, I don't think anyone would not go just because of the ruleset.

pound 4 rules should be THE rules

Best not to change them! Tourny is 2 and half weeks away! Changing them now would bring up a debate and people will b!+c# and . . . (sigh)
i think this ***** actually ignored him, and for good reason

this post is dumb as ****

if the TOs want to change the rules they can do whatever the **** they want
just do it with finality.

personally i think the pound 4 ruleset *****

picking characters after stage striking can be unfair if one person has prior knowledge of the opponent's mains
but i guess picking them first isn't strictly better

either way im on board with them

nah, you can't change the rules drastically when people have committed to travel a long distance to come, that's a ***** move

i really don't feel like it's a drastic change though

don't post if you're not going to commit to something

pound 4 rule set is the way to go. who cares if people get emotional? pound 4 rule set is just fairer for all involved.

My only concern is that the ruleset is new and a lot of people probably aren't going to remember everything. You'd need to find one way or another of pounding it into everybody's heads, or at least have plenty of fliers with the rules on them throughout the venue.

we're changing it to the pound 4 rule set. it'll be good preparation for the west coast at the very least.

lol then we're just blindly cancelling stages? just double-blind first then stage strike

Me, Jkun and kira want the pound 4 rules.
stop speaking for me or i'll reveal your identity. you're wrong like half the time anyway

it might be confusing for noobs but once we get to the double-elim bracket then it should definitely be pound 4 rules. but either way i dont care

what do you mean, semi-blind

im not so sure encouraging a variety of stages is our main goal. aren't we just trying to find the most fair stage? because in that case, we should double-blind the characters, then stage striking will pick the most balanced stage once we know the matchup

it's semi-blind because you know what character YOU can/will choose

under the current system, any given matchup will almost always be played on a specific single stage, which i've already heard a lot of people complaining about... and as far as 'fair' goes, in this system, you can choose your character accordingly with the stage

i'll post more later when i'm at work

i'm not saying my way's necessarily better, just that it has its merits

anyway, as I see it, stage banning/striking is meant to even things out between the players, not between the characters, and allowing players to adapt their character choice to the chosen stage helps contribute to that idea

The only thing I don't like about stage striking is that the first player to strike can get a little screwed! In the end, the second one to stage strike will be left with the remaining stages which pretty gives them the choice on the first stage to play on!

that can be rectified somewhat by striking in a 1-2-2-1 (1 and 2 are the players) order, although i'm sure someone still comes out slightly ahead

jkun's been making his grammer purposefully worse (lets do doubles and single)
but actually been attending esl classes every night

his goal is to make a new account, djmirror, to trick us but at the same time flaunt his mastery of the english language

except jasons not taking esl classes

hmm well one of djmirror's possible entities is an old friend of mine who's recently got into smash and is actually really cool. so none of you know him unless you were in psychomidget's pool at the arcadian tournament. This is the djmirror that jkun mentions all the time

the other one is someone else entirely

confused yet?
