Attend smashfests often for practice. Don't be afraid to call for ups and play often, sitting there watching won't help.

Don't complain about the game when things go crazy, just accept and move on. Your opponents are probably more annoyed at your character than you are at theirs.

Try and break bad habits like spamming the same move over and over (dair, smashes). Spamming isn't good. Zone control and baiting is amazing for us.

The way my 2's partner puts it is, GnW gets infinitely better if he just owns a space on the stage and forces you to approach him.

Pretty much every matchup revolves spaced aerials and Dthrow games. Our smashes are great for killing but try not to use them a ton otherwise. Our back air (Turtle) is amazing, as is UpB. Think of it as your get out of jail free card in most scenarios.

And don't roll. That was my hardest bad habit to break.

The occasional roll does work though. It can throw off your opponent, leading to a grab, dtilt, jab, or sometimes if you're awesome, a smash.

Did decent at my tourney this weekend. I have a small amount of replays to upload. Some doubles matches too. Lost to a Pikachu, I was very salty.

That's the best Hitler satire. Some are funny and some are just plain stupid. There must be a 'thing' where people make youtubes by adding subtitles to parts of that movie.

I have been thinking about quitting G&W :( I can no longer pull off stuff with him now that people learned to not to run into my smashes and being able to effectively **** me when I try to use turtle. My ICs are still not good enough to do without G&W either, but I really like both characters, but I feel like G&W just isn't really as good as I first though he would be. He is like the easiest character there is and it's still hard to pull off.

Everyone says GW is easy but I REALLY disagree. He's easy to play but hard to actually win with.

Well, against good players. He ***** at lower level but it's so hard to win with him against competent people... at least after they figure him out.

Still though i'm pretty sure most mains of most characters feel this way (They're character not being good enough) and most GW mains probably feel the same way you do. I feel like it A LOT. I wish I could tell you to stick with him because it'd be rewarding but I really can't and I have no idea if it is... This has been my main since Melee (well one of them) and the only reason i'm sticking with him is because i'm too far down this path, now.

Well I did earn my 2nd place with G&W, but that was before people knew how to deal with him. Now the only move I can reliably land against them without really good reads or takings risks is nair or something. I dunno what I'm doing wrong, maybe I just suck.

How isn't gaw good enough? He is amazing. I think his only problem is being light-weight.

He has good range, disjointed hitboxes, great priority attacks, attacks that hea high damage and great KO'ing power.

Yeah but he's got limited approach options and has an entire moveset of commitments. His moveset is REALLY good on opponents who dont know how to fight him but once they get past his gimmicks things become very hard. He's better on paper than in practice

His B-Air is great for approaches. It's range, duration and priority really does well.

^I had a DDD see my Bair approach then run backward a little and grab me :c. G&W is broken but, as someone said in the past, higher tiers are more broken. G&W is very easy to use but difficult to play mindgames with. VS skilled players with good characters you have to play smarter than the opponent for G&W's good traits to work. This and make good reads.
Or be a **** and take them to RC on wifi :reverse: .

I'm having a lot of trouble beating this hammer toting lard sack in a sweater on wifi. He CGs my best character so I can't use Link except Brin/BF/maybe Lylat. My Best options are G&W and Zelda. Both are light, can't be CGed and hit hard but have trouble landing power hits. Lard sack is hard to space because his godlike Bair and great hammer stretch Uair/Dair/Ftilt. He also lives forever; I lightning kicked him at 120% and he survived. He can Utilt KO my characters around 100%. He easily outlives G&W/Zelda. He can also swallowcide or occasionally pull out a gordo to make things worse.
I don't know how to consistently beat good players. I really need help.

I'll probably main ICs now instead of just using them as a secondary. My G&W is bad and I lose and ICs ****. Not quitting G&W though, he is still awesome.
