Oregon/NorCal Tournament: What do you think?

If enough people are interested, I will make it official. I wanted to get the community's feedback before I followed through on this. I'm thinking about hosting a tournament here in my small home town of Ashland Oregon, just north of the Oregon/California border on interstate Five:

Since it seems the Oregon comunity and the North California comunity are pretty isolated from eachother, I think a tournament right on the border would be a great way to break the ice.

EDIT
I'm sure there's quite a few of us [Oregon players] that would go down to play, especially those players in Grants Pass.
However, I think you'd be able to get a lot more people to attend if you could convince NorCal to attend as well.

/EDIT

The biggest issue I can see is travel, since most of the comunity is based out of larger cities like Portland, Sacremento and San Francisco, the long drive and the gas that goes with it may deter some people. But really, how often do the NorCal community and the Oregon community interact? This is a great opportunity to play against players you may not have had the chance to otherwise. If you are willing to go the distance, I can make it happen.

Your feedback is most welcome.

I'd rather not deal with brawl at all. Maybe two days, one for melee and one for brawl. I'm pretty familiar with that drive so I wouldn't mind taking it, but that's just me.

It'll most likely be a two day gig, one for Brawl and one for Melee, I can probably throw Smash 64 in there somewhere if anyone felt like it.

As for the drive, its no big deal, I've driven all the way across Oregon to go to a tournament, and carpooling+pitching in for gas makes it very easy on the wallet.

I do play Fox, always have played Fox and always will play Fox (not that I don't use others). I also play Wolf and happened to be a long-time advocate for his inclusion into Brawl. sorry about the confusion.

Yeah the drive is open and flat, so you can go really fast:) My guess is if there is a big melee event at least four from Davis would want to go, probably more. This is of course barring work/school conflicts.

I have some backing that a tournament in Ashland would be well attended, especially if some North California players come.
I'm sure there's quite a few of us [Oregon players] that would go down to play, especially those players in Grants Pass.

The more players that can come from California, the more come from Oregon, If you come, they come.

A lot of the Oregon community is based out of allisbrawl.com, if there is a site where I can run this proposal by the NorCal community that'd be great.

On a side note, I just drove to San Francisco and back, you have the gas situation real easy down there, considerably less expensive than most of Oregon

Is it because it's self service? Try the NCB thread.

I don't really play Melee anymore, but if CA is going to that I'll probably want to play Melee with you guys.
And please please please please get the Davis players to go <3
KR15 and CGC are some of my favorite Smashers to hang out with.

This could be a great place for OR & CA to meet up. But I also want some CA Brawlers to play with, they're not going to want to drive 4 hours just to 4-stock my garbage Pichu >_>

Crew Battles + Trash Talk = motivation lol
OR challenges CA because they suck (and Sacramento NEVER travels anywhere, they hardly even travel to their own tournaments, lolololololol)

I don't drive but I could fade on gas if enough people were going. Sounds like it could be cool.
