The internet, a wonderful place where people can share their opinions anonymously without being judged personally.
Unfortunately, more opinions = more arguments.
Arguments are not good, but there is one thing I find amusing about them.

The way people speak.

Read this thread (On a different forum): http://forum.yugiohcardmaker.net/thread-152832.html and you'll see what I mean.

Am I the only person who notices that when people get in arguments they start talking like they are english teachers?

Everytime I see someone do it just catches me off guard. I'm assuming it is so the other person doesn't pick you up on minor mistakes to try and udnermine you :p

But, if people are doing it to make themselves seem smarter than the person they are talking to it, I find it quite sad.

Weeeeellll, there is my rant. Enjoy!

Well, that is how people act when they get in an argument.
Everyone will attack in some way, including attacking grammatical mistakes.
So to look like a "formidable opponent", they try to act smart by using complicated vocabulary.
Well that's my take on that.

That's what I thought. Just wnated to make sure that I'm not the only person who smiles at 2 people trying their hardest to be perfect while arguing.

Why is that odd?

Whenever I put forward an argument I make sure there is as few as possible, ideally 0, holes in my argument my opponent is likely to point out. If you dont word your argument perfectly, its near guaranteed the other person will spend time pointing out insignificant holes in your argument, rather than actually bother to counter the points you bring up with their own

I know it makes sense, it's just funny watching 2, probably only 10 year old kids, arguing like they are english teachers.

And how they always say things like "Haha, your post makes you seem so misinformed" or "It's mildly amusing watching you try and issue false claims to try and ridicule me".

Surely people can make their point with 0 mistakes, without sounding like a stereotype rich english snob?

So, Internet flame wars are forcing kids to type in coherent sentences?

I may have to adjust my opinion on Internet flame wars, though, judging by that link, they've still got a ways to go.

Well, only a complete English snob would ever use proper punctuation.

Now if they all would transfer it into their normal use of the English language on the internet and everyone would do that, people like me would be very happy.

Wow, that Nate guy is a douche.

Some people who argue are okay. Others are just douches and basically flame, regardless if they're correct.

There will always be arguments on the internet and shots will be fired anyway possible, such as playing the "no life" card.

If a person has good grammar, it's a good thing. It's the attitude that matters.

In Sephiroth's hands.
I think its because no one wants to look stupid and be flamed to death because they used and three times in a row, or they used the wrong there in a sentence.

It's also mostly about respect for example: I hate this!/ This sucks!
Compared to I think your wrong about..../ I disagree with you on.....

there is a difference and I think it is silly that people should talk like that.
