Oklahoma Thread: Weekly events for all games in OKC and Tulsa

and my yoshi is 19th.
um, i dunno, i think the falco jump is a little weird.
screw fox. it's not cool to play with him anymore.
maybe i'll pick marth back up as my third, since his "cheapness" is not as complained about anymore.

i think samus is a pretty good option, but shes funky as far as characters go, and everyone hates her, so i dont know.
i also think falco is a huge piece of gay, everyone else is cool though
and after you left zinth, we got moveswap to work, and even though it crashes most of the time, its still hilarious.
falco with fox's move is the epitome of cheap, as he keeps his stun laser, but shoots as fast as fox, so you can not do ANYTHING except go backwards towards the edge.

I dunno, after Shade won the tournament with Falco, I thought that it was weird that Falco wasn't top tier. Now he's god tier, which I think is even more appropriate. And I knew that Pichu should have been above Mewtwo! Score one for Zinth! 
All my characters are the same. I might try a bit harder to get good with Falco though. I don't quite want to spend the time with him like I do with my others, but enough so I can get somewhat good with him. at the time of my last posting i had not checked the new tiers, and upon doing so, find myself annoyed that both space animals get thier own tier above all the others.
it almost makes it seem like playing as all the other characters is a waste of time. almost.

It's funny how they made them [space animals] so good even though prior to Melee they had never done anything too significant outside a spaceship before =\ Oh well, I guess that's where creativity kills.

Yah, but Grav if you master any of the space animals let it be Fox, very similar wavedash speeds make the transition for your style much easier.
I thought about you using falco, but after siing how you play so hard with using wavedash for everything the past couple of weeks, It would be sad if you forgot how to move because falcoe's wae dash is to weird for you.lol.

I am sure you can learn him, you don't need to learn to wave shine right now, just mess around, hes fast fanc kill fast, all you really need is timing, and youll get him down, with your wavedashing your fox will be very very hard to anticipate what your going to do.

It's only in the planning stages right now so you'll have to check for updates every other day. If you're looking for a full blown Smash tournament go to the one in Norman, on July 22nd. It's anticipating to be the biggest Smash event yet in Oklahoma, hope you can make it

How far is Norman from Tulsa? I wanna go to the tourny. But I know I'll won 't place anywhere above last. I'm not very familiar wth all these CCs, Wavedashing, and Super WD things
, because I never thought those kind of things existed until a a week or two ago. I'm practicing with those right now.

hi, its always nice to get new people, and to use an overly cliched line, everyone has to start somehwere.
but yeah even if you lose at the tournament, there will still be alot of friendlies going on so you can try and find someone at your skill level to practice with

Welcome Yoshmeister! It's good to have a Yoshi in the state I used to main Yoshi before I was enlightened of advance play. I find that he's just not quite my style I like your determination though

actually im not sure exactly where in norman it is, so if anyone could tell me, that would be great.
i think if youre counting cool points the winner would be either captian falcon or game and watch, but im not good with either them. they just have so much style and coolness oozing out of everything they do.

Lol. I main Marth, I find his style most suited towards me. I also like using Fox and Sheik as secondaries. I also find Jigglypuff, Falcon, and Peach fun to use, but I don't play with them seriously.

Well, we had our first (and only -_-) tournament at the Sooner Room... I personally think that we should find somewhere in the city perhaps... the Sooner Room really isn't that big, and we're expecting a greater turnout this time around.

Shade won the 1v1, and Shade and I won the 2v2. It was pretty awesome
Well, we're expecting some people from out of state to come. Aside from that, we've found more people in Oklahoma since then. We only had like fifteen people for the first one

at the time it was an awesome tourny, i guess. but now it looks humiliating, since weve gotten better.
and shade won, and in case you dont know, hes considered the best in the state.
personally, i think the sooner room is big enough, we only really used one wall when we had our people tehre last time, and there were a bunch of chairs left over. we might need a few more tables though, and as long as people bring tvs and cubes it should be okay. as long as we dont have more than like 60 people it should be good enough. again, all imo.
im not sure how big it is, but iirc there was a second room connected to it we might be able to rent as well. ill edit with real info as soon as i find it.

1v1 is where one person fights one other person. 2v2 is where a team of two people fights another team of two people. We don't know how many people are gonna be there this time. I'm hoping that Austin and Dallas will be able to come, as well as Colorado. Houston has already been confirmed as coming.
i cant view the site either, so whatever.
do you know the square feet of the room? because all i can find is that its for 48-50 people.
and the first time, it was complete chaos, we couldnt find the room, then once we did, noone was there.
so we had to from groups and patrol the building looking for people before they got lost.
and just incase the same thing happens again give us a vague description of what you look like, since weve never seen you before, and we might be able to help find you. just make sure you all stay together, so we can hopefully start it on time, unlike last time.
and wouldnt entry fee be the same as it was last time? i think it was 10 for singles and 10 for doubles, but i might be wrong.
and also, someone needs to organize a smashfest next weekend, so we can get some final practice before the tourny
and finally, does anyone know if the texans are still coming, and where theyre staying, cuz i havent heard from them in a while.
oh yeah, and does anyone know when that CCS thing interim mentioned is? i doubt i can go but, ill need to know the date before i ask. and if anyone is certain they could give me a ride, i would be just that much more likely able to go. as long as its before school starts that is.
but yeah i guess ill just wait for rasta since hell have all the fine details

KE has more than one character he's training with. Marth, Ganon, Falco, and possibly Falcon and Jiggy.

lol, where is broken arrow in relation to oklahoma city. there might be more experienced players in your area.
and its hard to give advice without seeing videos of them in a fight, but if you just mean general samus things, then theres an almost useless glitch with the grapple beam that makes samus move incredibly fast on that yoshi stage with the blocks.
theres also an equally useless glitch when samus gets hit by her bomb right when she picks up her hammer that lets her move around with the hammer while bombing and stuff.
im not sure of youre technical knowledge of samus though, so i guess ill just mention some general things. also, ive never given advice before, so bare with me. and if you want real good advice, wait for shade to come around.
there is rising grapple, which is when you air dodge up and then right after it (almost at the same time) you grapple, which will cause you to rise up when grappled to a wall, and its easy to seetspot the ledge like this.
missile cancelling where you shoot a missile right before you hit the ground, and it cancels the lag, so you can do anything after it and i recommend doing this anytime you land
one thing you could do after landing is just shoot another missile, so you get two quickly, or if theyre close, downsmash or ftilt
also, a simple combo is to hit a, to jab, and then hold a direction while your still attacking, and then time it so instead of the scond part of a, the tilt attack comes out
uh,..its a good trick to crouch cancel(hold down)attacks followed by a down smash, just make sure not to do anything to much, or youll get predictibale.
and up tilt is really good for edgegaurding fox and falco, it just takes a little bit to figure out the timing.
and make sure you learn to l cancel youre aerials, itll come in handy later, and of course wavedashing
but yeah, shade probably has better advice, and its always easier in person, so either me or him could show you stuff before or after the tourny

for that one not all the combos are that great, but it still shows you how to do some stuff
also for bombs, you dont have to really time it, just hold down and mash b
actually, know that i watch it, the second one isnt that great so watch it at your own risk, it still does have some good stuff, i guess, but its just a lot of extremely situational combos, but it can show how some of the attacks go together, i guess

The matches are four stock games with an eight minute time limit. Best two-out-of-three is played, except in the finals, then it's best three-out-of-five.

And I think that CSS is from July 28-29 or something.
