You're seriously considering picking a college just for smash? whoa. hardcore. a potential way to f*ck over your future. It doesn't really matter where you go to school, you can start a smash scene. My friends and i were total n00bs before college (i'd only heard of waveshining once, and i main fox), then we formed a crew and became a competitive enviornment (my crew is the smash scene at our university). Just find ppl willing to play and get better, and hold tournies at your campus/ go to other campuses to play (ppl will travel to play).

Edi: Hell, if you're north enough in Ohio (and decently east) you might make a show at one of our biweeklies.

No matter where you go, you can always start your own smash scene. that's what we did, and we go to a large school (where you'd expect a bunch of smashers to be based on the size).

well a D1 school would have the most people as if i where to go to a D3 school just because there are more likely to be more people that play at a larger school but I might go to a small art school in another state.

I went to Ohio University (about 1 hour south of OSU). I started a gaming club there where they have a decent smash scene. If you tried, could really make it something worth while. It's also close to Cincy, and it's a D2 school, so it has plenty of people there (also was #1 on playboys party school list). Something to consider at least

Go Blue, i'm sorry, but Michigan is just that much better. there's a reason we have arrogance 101 there.

osu probably has the best scene there from what i know. i'm pretty sure most of the ohio smashers will say the same.

nope, i'm going to have to go with everyone else on this one. the whole state of michigan is kind of limited on good smashers. at least it's been getting better.

I'll probably be transferring over to OSU this upcoming semester. Not for games of course but hey, at least I'll have lots of people to play. :)

Pick a college based on your academic preference. I'm sure that if there isn't a smash scene at that exact college, then there should be some nearby for sure. ^.^

Wow, I was actually about to start a thread about colleges with a good smash scene. I'm down to between the three local colelges I've looked at. Ohio State, Kent, and Cinci. What's the smash representation like at any of the three?

who cares? just go to the college you want to for academic reasons. When you get it/ get there, find out about the smash scene. If there isn't one, start one, and go to other colleges in the region for their smashfests.

woa woa, who said picking a college based on Smash is a bad idea? Smash definitely was one of my factors for choosing a college (never told my parents that). Why do you think I'm at Ohio State instead of Penn State? Huh???

OSU has a pretty good Smash scene for ALL levels of play. Cinnci isn't bad either. I don't know about OU though...

Kent is a no go, I don't know ANYONE who plays Smash that goes there.

Good...good, I was leaning towards OSU anyways because I'll know a ton of people there. All I know is there is practically ZERO smash where I am, so my crew has to hold our own tourneys that noone will travel too because we're so out of the way XD .

And it's not like it's a gigantic factor, it's jsut a definite perk since I have academic aspirations there as well, and why not enjoy it anyways?

I am told that il have to pay for college all on my own if i go to OSU because for some reason my family thinks its just one big party, and it is da, thats why every one loves it some much. And for that last time im not just picking my school based on SSBM AND SSBB. Iv goten kinda rusty too this summer no one wants to play me now in medina because i never lose to people, every one sucks here that goes for me too now.

Well it's THE Ohio State. IT HAS A FRICKING ARTICLE BEFORE THE NAME! Make sure you emphasize that to your parents. Tell them they're thinking of OU, not OSU. I've heard Ohio University is much more of a party school.

well, just about every big school is a party school if you make the effort (and party)... or a not-party school if you make the effort (and not party).
