its not really a matter of legality. its more like Sega's ability to screw this up on command. maybe the Sega corporation should be a brawl character will a final smash ability of maybe all the characters have crappyass voice-acting and rotating the camera angle so it gets stuck behind a wall

I want sonic in the game because then i can play with one of my favorite characters but im being pessimistic about his chances of being in the game even if it isn't likely.

When game companies find something that works, they milk it for all its worth. For example Mega Man, Mario, Sonic, all having tons of games and spinoffs. Sonic and Mario at the Olympic Games could be the perfect example of this. They could be just trying to cover all their market base.

Sonic & Mario- For the casual gamer
Brawl- more avid gamer

I'm betting that although S&M will be their first appearance together, it sure as hell wont be the last. Think about why S&M is coming out first before brawl. Its because they know most people wont buy it when they can get Sonic and Mario in SSBB which is a much better game.

You might then say well wouldn't they release S&M a lot sooner than brawl's release to get a lot more customers? The answer is yes, but not if the S&M was a last minute half-baked idea. Think about it, they announced and are releasing it in the same year! This game was not carefully planned and in development for years like Brawl. It sounds like it was just an after thought.

i hate all this gay hoax crap too cuz when we finally do get some info it will be hard to believe. I guess until we know for sure, I woud rather be happy and hopeful for characters like Sonic and mega man because there is A LOT less to look forward too without them in this game. That's because of all the speculated third party inclusions, Sonic seems most likely to most people. And for good reason.

The Sonic hoaxes may be made by haters, but they pick Sonic because they know he's wanted most, and he most easily believed. If someone had made a Geno hoax, most people, I think, would instantly call bull****—even those who want him in. But with Sonic, more people actually believe these things.

I've seen an IGN Article say something about 3rd Parties that have or still going to be crossed over with some of the fighters. But here is the thing they said for Sonic's possible way in.

Sonic the Hedgehog

Crossed Over: Mario & Sonic at the Olympic Games, Wii, 2007

And, of course, we must end with the clear and obvious selection. The fans are clamoring for Sonic to become a Smash Brother, and have been ever since the release of the previous game, Melee, back in 2001. The rivalry between Sega's Sonic and Nintendo's Mario is an epic one, and no one living in the early '90s would have ever guessed that the two characters would one day work together. But Mario & Sonic at the Olympic Games will see the two going head-to-head in the same game for the very first time, and that one confirmed cross-over is more than enough to fuel months' worth of speculation about the possibility of another. I may be just be hoping. I believe IGN only have the more "Up there" people putting down the articles or else there would be 1,000 posts from new members about the game. Even though it kinda says speculating that M&SatOG assures Sonic's appearence. There are many things that could mean he is in Brawl, and if he is not in Brawl.

Possible ways Sonic is in Brawl
1. Sakauri stated Sonic as the most requested 3rd Party.
2. Many big guns in Sega & Nintendo want him in.
3. Sega & Nintendo are good friends now.
4. Mass popularity. (Heard Pit got in because of outstanding popularity)
5. Mario & Sonic at the Olymic Games states 1st game with Mario & Sonic in. But it realeases before Brawl. Thus not counting Sonic out of Brawl yet.
6. Many spots are still open, and if Mr. Smash Bros. keeps his promise for another 3rd Party andfinds the 3rd party character in Brawl dart board. The bigger target will be Sonic.
7. Sonic games have more success on Nintendo consoles then Sony and Microsoft combined
8. Sega uses their mascot for almost everything

Possible ways Sonic isn't in Brawl
1. Sega haven't recalled anything (Although they could be keeping it secret with Nintendo)
2. Sakauri may have already chosen his other 3rd Party(s).
3. Sega afraid that Sonic in Brawl will just lower down sales of M&SatOG.

Actually this sounds pretty logical to me. Sega is developing M&S. It'd be kind of like Capcom vs Snk and SNK vs Capcom. I'll bet Beijing was looking to all sorts of opportunities for exposure and it all came together at the same time.

I can understand that. I'm not trying to put people in to the too positive state. Like how most Pro-Sonic nOObs do on their 1st posts. But i want to also avoid the state where we have no hope when our hope haven't been gained or loss yet. Just want to avoid all the swearing and the pessimistic attitudes about this. I just want to say 2 things.

1. If Sonic is in Brawl, what would be really weird but unlikely. Is that they put Sonic in his Classic black-eyed style instead of his recent. It would be weird and like already said unlikely. But nobody can judge the Development team that i know.

2. If he is in, how would he play in the "Subspace Emissiary" adventure mode. It will apparently have a story that includes stuff from a character's games. Anybody have their guesses?
