The way I see it in terms of the Marth issue is this.
Queen's Marth is good don't get me wrong. But when it comes down to it, Q does alot of un-nessesary stuff that simpler and safer methods would have gotten the kill. I know this cause I took the time to watch his Marth during the tournament.
Syn's Marth is fast and flashy. But his problem is much like Queen's. Un-nessesary moves that often wind up killing yourself. More so Syn then Q because of his flashyness. Don't get me wrong though I love watching Syn's Marth.
There's not too much I can say about DF except for his tournament record. Let's look at it from this standpoint. He placed 2nd in Kissumee, 1st at Gigabites, and somewhere in the teens at PAWS. Now what does that tell us? That DF does well in his own region, but has yet to show at least a top 10 placing at an out of region tournament. In short, DF needs to step it up in out of region tournaments to better qualify for the spot in the FL 5 man team.
Johnny's Marth is very consistent. He now has a solid top 10 record judgeing from his past 3 tournaments. At Kissumee (20+ man tournament) he placed 3rd. At PAWS (30+ man tournament) he placed 9th, and at SACS (60+ man tournament) he placed 9th. This consistency shows that he has a very solid Marth that can go up against any character and do well. Where as the three Marth players above, although skillful, have not shown that same consistancy.
Now the thing about my Marth, is that he's my backup counter character. I don't main him, but I do all the right things with him to get kills. Which is important in crew battles. I would say for SACS, I switched it up between CF and Marth throughout the bracket portion of the tournament. But I did go all Marth for the pools. So in the end, I would choose my self to represent Marth. Not as a main, but as a portential back-up counter character for a good match up that could swing the battle our favor, or perhaps even extend our lead.
These are just my opinions though bassed off of tournament statistics and what I've seen. Anyone can give there input. In the end, it really depends on whose actually going to Atlanta. But at least on this thread, we as a state can determine who really is best qualified for the FL 5 man crew.
