No offense taken DooDah, and your point is entirely valid. But i can honestly say that I sucked at paws. I don't think you beat me with DK though... it was close-I'll give you that. Mewtwo yeah. I'm not proud of it, but you definitely played defensively enough to beat me.

Remember that DF is a douche and was sandbagging at Xif's. Remember--douche.

I've never seen 1up's sheik, and have only played Syn's Ganon, so i can't call that. I'll add them (and peachtress) to the list.

Some people I put in because they play certain potentially useful character's well. GM is the best example of that. Others I put in because they are top competitors of their region. I probably should have waited to post this till after SACS, which will help a lot. But not everyone on this list is going to be there. SACS and other future tournaments will help develop our arguements.

I agree that we only need one fox player on the crew. But they're up there just in case someone wants to say otherwise or perhaps that Noucles is a better addition than rock.

Dittos don't prove anything but who is better at that matchup.

Very early predictions for 5 man and 10 man crews:

5 MAN

RockCrock
FlowinWater
Maverick
ShiekSSBM
(Insert a Peach Player Here)

10 MAN

RockCrock
FlowinWater
Maverick
Noucles
Lambchops
QDVS
ShiekSSBM
ThomasTipman
(Open for debate on the last 2 spots but one at least 1 is reserved for a peach player, if not both)

I'm sure this discussion will be more heated once SACS is finished.

hellz yeah doodah i pr0n camping

The very first thing we should do before creating the team, is create the list of players that have a possibility of going to SAVII. No point in making a list if half the players on it can't go. But making this list is no easy task. :( Basiclally what im saying is, dont expect all of players on the team to be able to go.

Picking a team is hard too :( Seeing as our top 4 players (Nouc, Lamb, Flow, and myself) play a total of 2 characters (maybe 3), picking a team of diverse characters becomes an issue right off the bat. I feel that counter picks play a big part in crew battles. So a way to choose team members would be to examine who each player does best against. If Bowser player A does extremely well vs 1 character, and Bowser player B of equal skill does extrememly well vs 2 characters, it would be wise to choose Bowser B.

Idk. There are so many factors to consider. Who can actually go? How many people on a team? Should we choose our best 5 and use 3 characters throughout the event, or have each player excel at a different character. What players are we up against? Counter characters, counter stages, counter players.

First and foremost, I would like to know who has the possibility of attending.

I will be attending Smash Aid 7. But how about we wait for the results of SACS before we decide anything further.

Forget my original 5--as of Sacs it should be: rock, chops, TT (orz), DF, Flowin

Maybe Mav instead of DF... i wont say for certain till i play mav again or they both play in the same tourney. I stand by my original 10 though. Not sure on the sheik player because i never play any of them... Hard to find a replacement for derf... I'll think more on it.

::waves back at holy marth::

DF = not eligible till he places better in a big/competitive FL tourney IMO

I definitely feel we need a Marth for the team but what has DF done to make you choose him???

:colorful:

EDIT: If it is a team of 5....I also don't think we would want 2 Falcos.....as good as they both are I think we want balance on this team character wise!!!

I still think I should be in the 5 man team. Most would agree, I hope.

Money match results:

Flowin vs 1up.

If a Marth is going to be on the team, it should be Queen. I don't understand why anyone would question that.

1. Rock
2. LC
3-4. Flow(2nd Flaco??)/TT

Possible 5th positons (in order):
Mave/Nouc/Queen/Chris(ssbmsheik)/randomCFLsux0r?

btw, can we look forward to any vids from SACS?

No offense to any other good marths out there... but DF is harder to beat than all of you. cept maybe mav--need to rematch that fo sho. Johnny, syn, Q(as of the last time i played you), etc etc you're all good. DF is a step or two above. He hasn't placed high at tourneys yet, but he would've at least placed top ten at SACS if his placings were to reflect his skill. Too bad he couldn't come... So you guys come to gville or gigabits and take our money. Maybe he just has a counter style to me though, probably not.

Either that or you guys have one on Sat. He couldn't come due to work.

I love the discussion-- I also think they need to change to 10 man state crews.

Rock: "random CFL sux0r"???? O mang itz awn!!!111 j00 r g0eeng 2 B pwnd s00 h4rd!!!!!!!1111oneoneone no but really i'll show you how much CFL suxorz next time we play. **Looks forward to eating his words**

I will take Mave or Johny's marth over Q, Q has the bit of the Suicide factor that I don't like much. Mave and Johnys marth are harder to read and barely suicide because they play safe. I definately don't see Q making it in the top 5, in the top 10 though yea.

And exarch I think DF just counters your peach, and if you two play often even more so since the Marth players down here barely get Peach practice.

That is my say.

The way I see it in terms of the Marth issue is this.

Queen's Marth is good don't get me wrong. But when it comes down to it, Q does alot of un-nessesary stuff that simpler and safer methods would have gotten the kill. I know this cause I took the time to watch his Marth during the tournament.

Syn's Marth is fast and flashy. But his problem is much like Queen's. Un-nessesary moves that often wind up killing yourself. More so Syn then Q because of his flashyness. Don't get me wrong though I love watching Syn's Marth.

There's not too much I can say about DF except for his tournament record. Let's look at it from this standpoint. He placed 2nd in Kissumee, 1st at Gigabites, and somewhere in the teens at PAWS. Now what does that tell us? That DF does well in his own region, but has yet to show at least a top 10 placing at an out of region tournament. In short, DF needs to step it up in out of region tournaments to better qualify for the spot in the FL 5 man team.

Johnny's Marth is very consistent. He now has a solid top 10 record judgeing from his past 3 tournaments. At Kissumee (20+ man tournament) he placed 3rd. At PAWS (30+ man tournament) he placed 9th, and at SACS (60+ man tournament) he placed 9th. This consistency shows that he has a very solid Marth that can go up against any character and do well. Where as the three Marth players above, although skillful, have not shown that same consistancy.

Now the thing about my Marth, is that he's my backup counter character. I don't main him, but I do all the right things with him to get kills. Which is important in crew battles. I would say for SACS, I switched it up between CF and Marth throughout the bracket portion of the tournament. But I did go all Marth for the pools. So in the end, I would choose my self to represent Marth. Not as a main, but as a portential back-up counter character for a good match up that could swing the battle our favor, or perhaps even extend our lead.

These are just my opinions though bassed off of tournament statistics and what I've seen. Anyone can give there input. In the end, it really depends on whose actually going to Atlanta. But at least on this thread, we as a state can determine who really is best qualified for the FL 5 man crew.

Excellent post Mave.

OK. For Marths, right now its looking like
1. Mave
2. Johnny
3.Q
4. Syn

The next concern would be determining who each Marth player is proficient against, i.e. filling in the counter character gaps. If Q wtfpwns CFs, and we have no other CF counters, Q would be a smarter pick than Johnny, who excels against Fox+Falco like everyone else on the team.

Guess I got to step it up for the next tourney.......
Fixed.

We really DON'T need a player that is good against CF.

Falco ***** CF. *****, I am pretty confident me and Lamb can **** ANY falcon.

The concerns are against Peach, and sheik, since those characters are wierd and gay.

Team Fort owns everybody son.
Too be more accurate, Rock *****. The rest of FORT is pretty much moral support except for maybe Queen. But too be honest, I've never seen him place top 10 before.

Yes Tipman is the best choice to take out Peach. But sometimes he might not be around for the job. Like if he's all ready gone during the battles and now there's a Peach on the feild. So we have to take into consideration aside from TT, who else can take on Peach. As many know, I may not have totally ownxors Comp's Peach, I did win everytime I fought it. So I might be a good choice to send after Peach.

Just little things like that can give us an advantage. Which is why it's important to pick players that can battle multiple foes and have multiple options.

I like Flowin's lists. I'm just a little worried about ShiekSSBM. I havn't seen him play since PAWS. I'd like to be sure he's still a top of the line Shiek player.
