So I read these threads ever so often of people looking for smash tournaments in the NYC area. Needless to say it is rather frustrating. Thinking about it I figured it is much easier to make a thread that updates NYC tournaments so people can not make these threads anymore.
So bottom line there is NO EXCUSE for people in the NYC area to miss tournaments that I am listing. I will post links to the opening posts that have DIRECTIONS to them.
MELEE TOURNAMENTS
Easily one of the big melee tournaments in NYC is Saffron City which is this weekend Aug 1st. This is right across from Manhattan in Jersey City. What does that mean to people in NYC? Well if you have NO IDEA of where the hell Jersey City is...its 10 minutes from Manhattan literally and it is not that hard to go to Port Authority and take the buses listed in the opening posts. There are several ways to get there and you can never have an issue going here. Just for those thinking I am kidding here :

Brawl
Viridian City
Same venue as Saffron but it is for Brawl. No excuse here either for NYC to come to this. Next one is Aug. 29th and I really see no excuse for anyone who plays Brawl to miss this. It is not like it is far from NYC. Same Directions here :

Gaunlet
NYC's most historic monthly tournaments and it is being hosted by longtime Smash player Wes. This is in queens and easy to get to via the 7 train to 61st and the train is a BLOCK from the venue. Same rules apply no excuse to miss this. It will be happening Aug 15 and it will promise to be a great day for all so please attend this. This is also easy to get to from LIRR for those smashers who live in Long Island. The LIRR stops right there on the Woodside exit.

BRAWL +
I know a few people into this game and let me say this will be a priority to get started in the NYC/NJ area. People know I do not like this game but I do support what is being done and I will promise before summers end I will be working with someone to host a tournament for Brawl +
There I highlight the important parts for the people not to have excuses about misreading. Show up support NYC and stop being lazy!

This is Not hard to do. Also it is cheaper than going to some random area that takes 1-2 hours to get to. Stop being lazy and go to these tournaments for melee and support the melee tri-state scene.Go to Port Authority (41st and 8th), go to Gate 51 and take the mini van, cost is only 2.50 -- You will take this bus to BLEECKER STREET (ask the bus driver). You will then walk 4 blocks down to Central Ave and voila! **NOTE, the mini vans do not have schedules but they run every 5 minutes, the last bus is 11:30pm going back to NYC**
