I say one more PR before brawl comes out, but thats just my opinion. good job Baysians at SCC and to the rest of the smashers from norcal who went. I envy you all.
**NEW RANKINGS AS OF 10/01/07**
This has been done without a panel, without "tourney results" and without having played the majority of norcal in over half a year. No Johns, place your trust in The King.
If you aren't on my list, it's probably because I haven't played you in friendlies in a while or I don't know how good you are anymore. Also, if you go around saying stuff like "I'm not even that good, I play DK" I'm probably going to be forced to take your word for it.
If there are ties it's because I'm not very confrontational and have grown less biased over the years.

Hahaha, yeah, i'm sorry. I'm really not that good, i use dk. I just hoped i could make it anyways without people actually realizing how much i suck at this game, but at least i made it as a notable! King made this list and King can't be wrong. Oh well, i'm just not that good

Haha, well not being on the power rankings and people seeing that i picked Donkey Kong as i sat down really helped make it easier for people to underestimate me at the tourney. I almost wanted to go up to all of them afterwards and be like "Dude! You just lost to a Donkey Kong player thats not even ranked in the top 20 in NorCal. How does that make you feel?" haha, but that would be just plain mean

I'd be proud to be just in the top 50 after only having been in the competitive scene for less than a year.

**** that. hydrokirby should be at least top 10 because he beat m2k once in pools. i don't think ANYBODY in norcal has done that recently. but seriously, he deserves to be on the rankings before melee dies.
zel should definitely be on the rankings. we should keep king off the rankings. it'll serve as incentive for him to come back to **** us all =)
let's see... mexican should be ranked to keep ppl from saying **** like "i just lost to some unranked DK player 'that's not good' " LOL. meep should go up. falcomist should go up. dark mike / snap / foxroar should be either lower or removed as they haven't showed up in a while.

I am fine with another ranking but just because brawl may be coming out doesnt mean we should do anything different. People are still going to play some form of smash and whoever is the best at the most popular form will be on the norcal list.

Well we might do another rankings list and have it extended, but I think that people often forget that these rankings lists, in the end, are just for fun. We don't take it super seriously as panelists because there's no reason to, and neither should anyone else.
But it almost always seems like that a bunch of people who take the list too seriously always get all up ins when we make a new list. I'm fairly certain that a number of people will get butthurt when they find out that 5 people don't think they are 40th best in Norcal.
I think it's great if people want to use their rankings to get a good idea of where they stand in the community, and to use it to gauge their improvement. The list is essentially a compression of the past into a list, not a predictor or an estimation of the future.
BUT. I think a number of people get the wrong idea of what the list is all about. Only you can really ever know how good you are. Now, you can delude yourself or deprecate yourself, but you still are alone in your ability to know your capabilities. Being a certain spot on the list does not change that. The list is just a best guess based on how you've done against other people on or near the list. You aren't suddenly good or bad because of where you are on the list.
So my advice to everyone is:
Shut up. Think just about the match in front of you. Play because you like the game, and not to make a number on a list decrease. Conversely, don't look at a number and immediately decide how good someone ELSE is. Just. Play.

lol @ one match in pools, he shined me in the beginning, i missed my jump and died at like 15%, and on my last stock i forgot he was at high enough % to tech the dair so i died again when he teched it, and it was out of 3 stock. No offense or anything but that's not a very good reason to base things off of esp when the other two matches weren't even semi close. Mango should probably be 2nd on this list right now, he's an active player that's been doing good recently. King has been inactive so I don't know what to say about him. Isai is also random.

mango lives in socal by the way, not norcal. apparently cali is big enough to have two separate rankings.

I beat m2k in crews at oc2 when pc was telling him to hurry up cuz manacloud wouldnt let them eat till they finished the crew battle.
I guess Mexican is kinda good now, but remember he uses DK

Haha, i kinda liked the thought of beating some of the best smashers when i use DK and i'm not even good enough to be ranked at all. What would you think if you went up against a low tier character used by somebody that wasn't even ranked at all? You would think it was an easy battle, which people did, and paid for it. And I'm really not that good, i use DK. And Mew2king, no johns. hahaha, jk. I think that the FTA in general should be moved up. The FTA is greatly underestimated IMO, but thats just my opinion. GIANT PUNCH FTW!
*edit* and i took one round off of ChuDat and Taj in pools and Hugs in tournament, doesn't that count? And i beat some really good people like SilentWolf. BTW, the combo i did on him was sexy, Zoap and Zodiac Lucien were lucky enough to witness the sexiness. haha

I think the list should stay at 20, with a small list (at least 5) of people who are VERY close to being ranked, There are a bunch of players who have beaten ranked players several times and typically don't lose to unranked players that haven't beaten rankers. People like Lucien, Yen, Myko... there are more too but I'm sleepy. The list needs a catchy name too.
Also, choknater should be ranked, and would be by now if he could make it to more NCBs.
