Er, I was talking in general, you can block in Street Fighter, I saw someone block all of Chun Li's SFII super once too
I was refering to
how you block.
In street fighter, and most 2d fighting games, you block by holding the d-pad/Left stick away from the opponent.
Most 3d fighters have a dedicated block button.
The 2 biggest games that buck this trend are are Mortal Kombat (2d game with a block button) and Tekken (3D game where you hold back to block)
Doa 5 is an odd ball that allows both.
Both methods of blocking have advantages and disadvantages, though they're arguably subjective. Changing one to the other completely changes the game and how it's played. So my point was that seemingly small changes can have drastic effects on the game.
Imagine super meter in smash. You'd essentially have a
legal way to access your final smash. And depending on how it's executed many thing would need to change or be updated since both characters may have, or even activate, their supers (final smashes) at the same time, which is currently impossible.
I mean...just the
threat of supers can completely change the meta. Every character essentially has a KO punch. That's a
big change.
