I am not sure if a Splatoon Battle Royale would be fun... Or terribly boring. That being said, what does karma have to do with anything? I doubt Nintendo fans even realize Battle Royale is a thing. Breath of the Wild was basically their first open world which is why they went gaga for it.

I meant in general and not just for Nintendo series. Like besides Yoshi, it also did show Yakuza, Half-Life, etc. So that last bit was more about any series in general rather than just Nintendo series.

When I speak of karma, I'm talking about the people who don't like it, make fun of it and then suddenly, one of their favourite series goes the way of Battle Royale. Then the salt kicks in. I just enjoy it when people make fun of something than all of the sudden, something they like goes that direction and some of them are like, "".

They got major issues and often have a cruel and self centered sense of value. Combine that with an extreme lack of social awareness and the idea that they are owed something makes them unbearable on a good day.

And like, I get the main idea. Some people are just born ugly and unsociable. Them's the breaks. It's not fair, but we can't do much about it. But that doesn't mean their lives need to be awful or their character should be ****. That's the incels' main problem. They don't realize that.

Every time I read a sentence like this in my head I can't help but think that Breath of the Wild didn't click for someone personally and that they assumed that must mean that everyone who did enjoy it was a sheeple. And I'm not saying this as someone who's been "brainwashed by the narrative" or whatever nonsense is likely being passed around, I just think that Breath of the Wild has some rather different weak points and strong points than the norm for open world games. Some people are going to like that, others are going to hate that. Personally I think that there's lessons both that BotW could learn from other games and that other games could learn from BotW.

But mostly the accusation that an extremely popular game is only popular because the audience doesn't know better kind of hurts my head. There's an. . .awful lot of core Nintendo gamers that actually do own other systems.

If anything, I am glad that Call of Duty (a series I enjoy) is hopping on the bandwagon, I want to play a Battle Royale game that does not suck. The best options are PUBG (I am on PS4), Fortnite (I would rather dismember myself), or Radical Heights (Not sure if that is PC exclusive, but... if not, ha ha ha, no).

It was not necessarily a statement about whether or not they enjoyed the game. People heralded it as innovative and whatever, which, within the context of the series, is true. Usually when I hear this explained, people bring up a bunch of disparate games that never really entirely caught on with the audience of any system as reasons why BotW isn't innovative.

IMO the art design is what BotW's absolute strongest suit is over traditional open world gaming, though, and that's something that tends to get skipped over altogether. It's not quantifiable as a "gameplay element", but it goes a long way in making a game an experience instead of just a bundling of mechanics.
