You know I'm not 100% serious right? I'm deliberately playing up my love for Yuri, just so I can keep ****posting with The Stoopid Unikorn .

And thing about Het and Yaoi romance, they genuinely bore me, so I have no interest in them so I don't read them.

And Yuri fans know a lot about bad endings, since the start of the genre was founded on those. *sigh* The amount BS bad endings in early Yuri manga got really frustrating at times, when I read them.

This was already answered but its Yotsuba from... Yotsuba.

It's an amazing manga about a five year old living her life with her adoptive father. The quote I have under my avatar is actually the manga's motto.

It's an amazing and heartwarming comedy and is one of the few works I think really gets children.

A lot of children in fiction are made to be annoying and obnoxious, or absurdly innocent or too dumb to live. Yotsuba is none of those. She feels very real and reacts like a real five year old would. Add in some great older characters and you have a great manga and one I'd recommend every time.

Reading this comment made me remember Sweetness & Lightning. It's an anime about a girl roughly Yotsuba's age who lives with her single father, only that show focuses more on cooking and shows how the activity allows him to find happiness following the death of his wife and become a more caring father for his daughter.

It has some sad bits (but it's delivered in a way that has feels without turning into a total sob-fest), but the show is very heart-warming and cute and most of the time, and the little girl's portrayal in the show is also quite realistic for someone her age. She too has the cute, playful innocence to her.

I have a feeling you would like that show just as much as you like Yotsuba.
