I wonder how the manga will handle these games? Sword & Shield will be awkward names for protagonists, but I guess if they made Lacktwo & Hitetwo/X & Y work... Am betting on one of them having an accent like Sapphire was given.

Based on previous arcs, the Male will have Sobble and the Female will have Scorbunny.

Those legendaries would be much more interesting IMO. Please no "Armored" Evolutions. We don't need another version of Charizard & Mewtwo.
Just call them Saber and Shielder
https://archive.nyafuu.org/vp/thread/37621165

Possibly real info on the games. My problem is that there isn’t much there compared to past real leaks and the legends make no sense when the logos have wolves in them but feel free to read ignis interested. It’s nothing crazy, but I think this is a lucky gues.
Link won't work, what does it say?

My thoughts on the Direct was that it was okay. Game looked nice and all and i'm looking forward to playing it but like it wasn't as mind-blowing as I thought it would be. Starters look pretty generic and look the same but maybe their final/middle evolution stages will make up for that. UK-based region looks pretty good though and it's setting looks varied as well as vibrant.

What interests me is that there's going to be another Pokemon-related announcement this year which is stated to "delight the fans". Obv that sounds like PR wording but I am intrigued nevertheless. Maybe Pokemon Snap 2 is finally going to happen after all this time? As much as I want Stadium 3, it's pretty much dead in the water.

This is it. Believe it now or later.
>Pokémon Sword and Pokémon Shield
>Region is Great Britain
>Legendary Pokémon are metal snake and wooden horse
>Armored Evolutions
>Armored Charizard, Armored Mewtwo, Armored Flygon, Armored Zeraora...
>Meltan ties into Armored Evolution and Legendary lore
Here is what the link says for those asking.

They have two things correct so far, though I wouldn't be surprised if much of this was made up if some of this info was shared among known leakers.

That said, Meltan will definitely have large role in the lore of the region based on that hillside in the trailer, and Mewtwo has another movie coming out this year. It's also known that Game Freak has been wanting to do something with Flygon since ORAS.

Since the Nintenzone Social is filled with many Pokemon fans, I just wanted to drop in the word that I made a thread on the Poke Center subforums on Smashboards dedicated entirely to discussing Pokemon Sword and Shield news!

You can access the thread in this link right here.

I thought I'd make a thread like that seeing how successful the Sun and Moon discussion thread was last time over at those subforums.

Aight let's see if anyone else is as ho-hum bout the Pokemon announcement as I am.

*scroll*

...really? I'm the crotchety one? Aight, if I must.

Region looks generic to me. Lots of regional variety as long as all you want is flat green plains, villages on flat green plains, and the one city up top. I've seen the UK thrown around, but unless I see something much more London-y, I ain't feelin it. Just seems bland so far.

Graphics are still looking akin to Gen 6/7, slightly upscaled, much like Go. The style still works, but the lack of polygons is starting to get a little glaring just because it looks like everything's been imported rather than properly reworked. Environments are looking a lot flatter and textures ain't saving em. When they cut to the starter footage and the disclaimer came up "not actual game footage" I was sitting there like "well it ****ing should be."

No real word on mechanics whatsoever, other than gyms are back. It looks like wild battles have returned, and the Go-style capturing is in limbo, which is about what I expected. But if this brings anything new to the table other than that, we ain't had the pleasure.

Final scene with the arena didn't get me near as much as it should. Maybe I'm still holding out for something very Coliseum-y for my big-ass showdowns. Not sure. Things still seem a little too cramped, there's no sense of awe in the architecture - even when there should be. The hillside with the Nazca line images is a prime example; there's a clear sense of scale, but it doesn't really give me any more visual pleasure than the stuff I saw out of Gen 6/7.

Starter designs feel like that meme about copying homework but changing it slightly so the teacher wouldn't know. Specifically, they strike very similar profiles to the Kalos starters, despite being vastly different creatures with varying degrees of differing personalities. Final evolutions are gonna make the difference.

Being cagey about the details doesn't inspire confidence either. Seven minutes is not long enough to satisfy me, and this doesn't even feel like it really tried.

TL;DR: Feels like we're getting a 3DS game on Switch rather than a Switch game on Switch. Won't matter if it plays fun, but it's more of a letdown than I feel it really should be.

Also if Scorbunny evolves into something that isn't prime furry bait I'll eat my hat.

Well at the very least, the entire city of London is on the map. It’s in the upper part before the league.

I think from the looks of things, routes are gonna be massive and that’s the focus, making big cities and towns and routes.

It looks small but the scale seems pretty big in game.

Anyway:

-Game looks nice, I expected a bit more, but at least is fancier than LGPE
-The Logos are meh
-Masuda looks like a Zoolander character
-Seems is just England and not the whole Britain
-Also the region looks small, but maybe is just how the map is decorated
-Probably the Pokémon Contest-like gimmick will involve soccer.
-As expected Ohmori is directing, I would prefered someone like Morimoto but guess the Masuda Jr. era is still on.
-I'd let my starter eat my Trix cereal
-No more chibi models, hopefully the proportions will look better here.

Humoring the rumor a bit, if the wolves aren't the legendaries then it could be that they are tied to a gimmick or theme (likely the armored evolutions). Gen 6 had the Mega Symbols in the Japanese logos while 7 had the Z-Crystals, so it wouldn't be the first time they did that.

They already are, fam. They move faster than... than... rabbits.
Can't they just...take Mega Lopunny for awhile, or something?

Let the poor bunny be pure for at least a day or twho am I kidding it's already there isn't it.

I wouldn't be surprised if they do that when it is localized. They changed Lacktwo & Hitetwo to Blake & Whitely.

I just hope the author can finish the Black 2/White 2 arc after 7 years of constant hiatuses. Gen 6's stories were both rushed and Gen 7's story is nearing it's end. There are literally 10+ volumes worth of content that could be released but is being sat on as we wait for Volume 54 (Vol. 53 came out August 2017).

If they delete Megas, I'll consider it but god I hope this is fake

Honestly I also don't think the region looks. . .thaaat great actual layout wise, and these are some of my least favorite starters overall with not one of them particularly winning me over (I feel like I'm. . .settling for the chameleon, but the fact that chameleons are my least favorite lizards and this is a particularly unbecoming one says a lot).

I'm just super traumatized by the first game on Switch being a genwunner title with watered down gameplay to the point I'm just happy to have Lucario back and battles against wild Pokemon. That's how low Pokemon has brought me as of late. If the Armor Pokemon thing is true, I can only hope Armor Lucario is a thing so I can just security cling to Anubis doggo and never let him go again.

Although I will say most of the areas shown looked super cozy art direction wise even if the region map itself looks. . .ehhh. I guess they did learn ONE thing from Breath of the Wild: Create places people actually wanna be in.

That and I don't care about whether or not the scale or the graphics are mind blowing so I'm just like. . .I'll settle. I've stayed away for two games and I want to play Pokemon again, just give me my doggo back. Please.

I haven't been following the Pokémon news, what's this about?
*googles*
> the region looks to be based on the UK, and is called "Galar", which is indeed the Irish word for "disease"

Oh dear. This is turning out to be a pretty bad year for the Brits, huh? Only 799 more years of humiliation and we'll be even. :p

Who knows? :3
I think the Direct, despite being short, was quite good overall: Sobble is easily my favorite of the three starters while I'm ok with Sobblebunny and Grookie is just meh to me as of right now. All I really ask is for some sort of post game content in a Battle Frontier type of situation and Sobblebunny's final evolution being something other then Fire/Fighting.

Dude armored Pokemon sounds awesome but also sounds really fake. Lol
Honestly considering Pokemon were used as beasts of war in XY's distant past and in Pokemon Conquest and the games this time are named Sword and Shield I buy it.

It'd certainly sell all kinds of stuff and anyone could see that.

I wonder if that 227 jersey number on the player means anything.

National Dex-wise that would be Skarmory and we'll have to wait a while until we know the Galar Dex number
