Huh. That at least puts it into perspective a bit more. Honestly I think it mostly depends on how outward the church is about its gay conversion therapy. If it's like, handing out fliers to everyone each Sunday, yeah that's a little suspect. But at the same time I don't know if the full blame can be put on Pratt if it's not something a lot of people know.

The thing is that he's gonna deal with the usual knee jerk reaction.

Someone who has, in their own experience, been helped by said institution in his own time of need and emerged better for it, and who has never seen them turn away anyone, based on his testimony.

It pisses me off when people try to call others homophobes for things they themselves didn't do. You know why? Because it hurts cases where people are actually homophobic and don't get called out because the term was overused to the point of it having no meaning. It's the same way I hate the braindead Pizzagaters and QAnon supporters for making child trafficking, which is a serious and legitimate issue, seem like an insane conspiracy theory because they attached it to a pizza place.

I kind of doubt this. Nintendo has really toned down direct segments. The only game in the longest time that got a huge direct presence was smash.

Like remember there was a direct I believe that was focused on odyssey.


Odyssey got like 3 minutes of footage and that was it. I think Nintendo much prefers their new style of quick bulletins and footage. They’ve been doing pretty well with it.

It’s like saying because one priest is a child predator they all are.

And that’s just not the case. Is there a problem with it now adays, yes. But not every priest is the same, the same applies for religion.

You can share a belief and still have a different take on it. For example hardcore Christianity will have people against gays but now a days, you’ll see a lot of modern people practice a religion but have their own beliefs on it.

For example as a catholic there are older ones who would be against home sexuality but I’m a firm believe that god isn’t against them, he created everyone by technicality so why is it wrong?

Might be over stating here, but my point is plenty of people now follow a religion but have their own unique set of beliefs that can differ from normal ones

What was that quote during the election about Trump Supporters? "Not all Trump Supporters are racist. But all racists are Trump Supporters." Basically, it's not good in general to assume someone being something because of who they are associated with. Otherwise, you can be heading into the territory of "This person didn't agree with this "type of person" person's opinion. Therefore they are this-a-phobic."

Well I like this thread for talking videogames so Imma talk videogames. Really excited about the Nintendo Direct tomorrow since it will be focused on Three Houses and I was fearing it might have been delayed, but now it's totally happening, bring me the hype!

Had a long talk with my friends about the direct, so I'm going to try make some predictions.

-I joked about the direct staring with Three Houses and actually being a Smash trailer bringing the most amount of salt ever. I don't see it happening because we need Joker gameplay before that, but that would be hilarious.

-Either way, I don't expect them to begin with Three Houses, it would be the middle section and it will be about 10-15 minutes I'm guessing.

-Animal Crossing and Luigi's Mansion are both in the air. There's A LOT of demand for the first one, so it might make sense giving us something AC, not so sure about LM3 though.

-There's going to be the usual section where they show 7-8 games in a row in rapid succession, and one of them is probably Yoshi due to it releasing next month.

-For the ending I expect one of two things. Either a brief Pokémon announcement where they also tell us to look forward to a Pokémon direct on the following weeks... Or we get Joker gameplay to end the direct. And he gets released just after the direct ends. But for that to happen no second character would be revealed, but I think those are the most interesting stuff they could pull off to end strong.

Hoping for surprises because this month we don't have any releases at all, so Nintendo better step up their game. Either way I'm super excited, will watch it in group for the first time (other times was just through voice chats), so I really hope it's something to remember.

And villifying people for something you seem to understand is baffling to me. What Pratt did was not homophobic in and of itself.

I'm an atheist in part because I believe organized religion gives rise to homophobia, but I absolutely do not believe that going to a church that is anti-LGBT and having good experiences there makes the churchgoer anti-LGBT. That's my issue with this.

But being an accomplice doesn't make you something associated with who they defended or whatnot. I mean, we do have the whole deal of "Doing it out of love" or whatnot. How some criminals get help from their loved ones just because they love them enough to help them, not because they also share the same feelings or ideals about the thing as the murderer does. You can be an accomplice, but being an accomplice doesn't make you the same thing as the person they accompanied and whatnot. It doesn't work like that. But no one is saying Chris Pratt isn't wrong in defending a homophobic church.
