One thing before I go out of this website so I can actually play the game...
I can not see a single thing. I am trapped in a cave, but there are a lot of cool materials.
Terraria is fun.
You know how in Minecraft you theoretically need torches but if you set your TV settings right you can kinda see the interior of the cave regardless?

In Terraria you just straight up need torches.

Also once you manage to find a Magic Mirror you're gonna absolutely hug and kiss that thing and never let it leave your side, it's an item that warps you back to your spawn point/house that you can occasionally find in some chests. Saves you from this kind of situation, or as you get further into the game and build up a bigger hoard of safety nets saves you from being murdered by a half a dozen angry enemies chasing you. Hopefully you get lucky and find one sooner rather than later, LOL.

I'm happy to hear you're enjoying Terraria, there's a reason I'm annoyed it's taking forever for it to be ported to Switch LOL

*EDIT* But, uh, when you do get a Magic Mirror, just don't try to use it during boss fights. A disturbing number of them will chase you all the way to your house, and one IIRC just straight up auto-kills you if you try to bail while fighting it.

I have purchased Breath of the Wild and it is now fully downloaded.
Funny, I've just this past few days been replaying BotW for the first time since pretty much when it released and I've been thinking for a while about bringing it up. Since I lost my original save along with my initial kinda screwed up Switch and kinda had my fill of it after that I never tried out most of the DLC content. But now after OVER A YEAR of playing mostly just Skyrim I'm now a little burnt out and want to go back to. . .playing another open world game. So now I'm working on a Master Mode save that I'd only really finished the Great Plateau and made a mad dash for a couple of stables on.

I took a massive detour to get the Master Sword before hitting any of the story beats because I remembered a lot of NPCs whining about me not having it the first time around and honestly I just want everyone to shaddap. Please note that this is not the recommended playstyle, I just have some needs.

I will listen to your advice.

So far Terraria is fun. I still can not find any rare materials like diamond or any bosses, but I have encountered a weird red ice area that is spooky.

Red ice?

Ooooh boy, LOL. That area stretches up to the surface. The "red" can be found in snowy areas, deserts, and normal areas, although depending on the size of world you spawned it might only cover one of them or a bit of normal and a bit of just one of the others. You probably don't have good enough gear yet to brave what's out there without getting rekt, but when you get a good look at the area without the cramped confines of the cave. . .hahahahahahah

hahahahahahah

HAHAHAHAHAHAHAAHAHAHAHAH

. . .Also diamond doesn't spawn as an ore like in Minecraft. Very, very, VERY rarely you'll find it glinting on cave ceilings and floors, but far more likely you'll find other precious gems. Sometimes gems spawn in a dedicated little pocket of cave just full of them. The game doesn't revolve around it like Minecraft though, so don't fuss too hard. As for the bosses, most of them are summoned via very specific rituals or by poking at something suspicious. Although if you increase your hitpoints too much without paying attention, the first one. . .will find you.

So that's why I hoard all my Crystal Hearts like a chipmunk until I have enough on hand to max out my health and have gotten a set of the best armor I can find. :)

Six things to note.

The farthest I have gotten was this dragonfly attacked me and I feel in a pit.
I need better weapons and armor. Copper is not doing so good against the much bigger enemies.
Does pink slime count as a boss or a really strong enemy? Early in the game, I found one and I think it gave me pink gel. I was able to make pink torches, which just look fabulous.
I only found one crystal heart. I really need to go mining, but I only have like thirty something torches.
I have not encountered any bosses yet.
Night is really hard. I literally have to hide until night ends.

Pink slimes aren't bosses OR super strong. They're super RARE, and pink slime is one of the ultimate rare commodities. It's like finding a Shiny Pokemon, except instead of catching it you murder it in cold blood and loot it's corpse.

The dragonfly was probably actually an antlion, I'm guessing there's a desert on that side.

Try finding Gold/Platinum deeper underground. I think only one or the other will spawn in a given world if I'm remembering my ores right. IIRC that's gonna be your best armor until you manage to beat the first couple of bosses.

Oh, so I found an ultimate rare commodity right in the beginning of the game? That is epic! I also got an achievement on Steam about the Pink Slime.

About the dragonfly thing, that makes sense. Also Face Monsters are probably the strongest monsters I have encountered.

The Gold/Platinum idea is really good. I have never discovered a boss yet.

Ah, Face Monsters. I see the "red" has been saying hello, LOL.

If you wander far enough into the "red" zone and go into the cracks in the ground you might find some altars. If you hoard enough lenses from the flying eye enemies at night you might be able to craft an item you can use to summon the first boss. But like, you should probably get the Gold/Platinum armor first LOL.

Makoto is the best girl. She’s a sweetheart and deserves your respect.
I’ll wait and see about that respect part (I will admit her Persona is awesome though). So far I’m digging Kawakami a lot

Her Persona is the best, easily. Hell yeah to the biker babe. Kawakami is definitely the best woman. Takemi is a hottie though. I like goths lol

I am trying to get back all of my stuff. Perhaps I will mine through to find an altar. The thing is, I can not mine those dark red blocks from the red frozen area. Platinum is stronger than gold, right?

Breath of the Wild is pretty awesome so far. I like the open world style of the game, and everything looks absolutely gorgeous.

I'm still trying to get used to the controls though. Other LoZ games felt intuitive, while this one feels awkward at first. Will try to get to the shrine on the snowtop mountain later. Got to the other shrines on Great Plateau so far.

Plus, Takemi is a trusting enough doctor, so a goth doctor + a teacher/maid = victory

In real life, yeah. In Terraria like I said I think only one or the other spawns depending on what your save generates and they're about equal. The same goes for whether you get a red area or a purple area. You can see completely different stuff in different saves of the game because of the world gen, it's goofy.

And if you travel above ground you should be able to find a way into the depths of the red area from the surface. You can blow up the red blocks with explosives but can't mine it until you start beating bosses. . .I think. There's ocean fish you can catch that serve as pretty high level gear (yes, really) so that might be able to, but it'd be really hard for you to survive a trip all the way to the edge of the map this early on. You'll see weird orbs in pocket caves in the deep red depths, that's gonna give loot if you explode it but you have to be careful because if you blow up three of them it summons the SECOND boss. Also I think blowing up one makes it possible for meteorites to fall and while meteorite ore is pretty nifty having a place on your map randomly turn into a hunk of metal that burns you when you touch it and spawns a bunch of angry little hovering meteors is yet another handful to deal with. And you might not be able to mine meteorite ore until you beat the first couple of bosses anyway from what I remember.

The bosses drop ore for better armor than normal metal, you see. It takes two types of material to make said armor, some of one being dropped by the first boss and some of both being dropped by the second. And IIRC you need mining tools made from that ore in order to dig up the next even better ore you'll need, which is. . .well if you dig deep enough you'll find it, LOL. Not referring to meteorite ore, mind you, that's on the surface after one hits and more of a sidegrade.

Interesting. What kind of loot does the orbs give you?

How do you fish?

I also plan to go mining once when I get my stuff. What boss should I fight first?

Sorry if this is so short, I am on mobile, waiting for the night in Terraria to end. If I were to use my PC, the game would stop counting time.

The orbs give you starting gun stuff and one or two things themed after the area if I'm remembering right.

You fish by, uh, crafting a fishing rod, I think. I forget at which crafting table, for some reason I feel like I mostly remember gaming stuff out of instinct mid-play.

The first boss you start with should be the one you summon with the item crafted with eight eyeball lenses on an altar/automatically has a chance of showing up at night once when you have high enough HP. That's generally the starter boss. Now's also probably a good time to point out that people tend to make personal arenas to fight summonable bosses in. Not super flashy things or anything, just big straight wooden walkways high in the air with maybe some platforms so they can shoot at the bosses and run away at the same time. Lined with campfires, heart lanterns, etc. Just anything to give you a nice cozy advantage instead of having to jump around on the uneven ground with nothing but your wits.

I lost all of my healing potions, shurikens, etc. I do have Tungsten bars, what could I do with them?

I have a ton of torches with me, so I can go on a mining trip. The leftovers will be used to have light at night.
