*ARMS ends up being forgotten by Nintendo*
While I'd like to know to reason for the delay and silence, I wouldn't call it forgetting when they released a 128 page manga back in October.

Hopefully it won't be long as that preview from Free Comic Book Day 2018 was so good.

I'm playing through World of Light right now, and I really enjoy it so far! I think for the most part it's well-designed and enjoyable. Not perfect, but it has some good charm and design to it.

Happy new year people, I forgot to say it here.

Does any of you guys want to play some arena matches in Ultimate? I'm a bit tired of quickplay, and I see plenty of people on my friend list playing, so I was hoping some of you would like to play.

I would be down to play right about now.

And since I haven't said it yet, Happy New Year everyone.

I very much dare so. :V

Jokes aside, I just wanted to play with one specific frienderino.

Might open a more NintenZoney one later though.
How dare you not want to immediately bask in the beauty of my presence

for shame, Uni. For shame!!

Ooh, I was hoping someone would have an arena up. Quickplay is full of an unusually high number of tryhards and Inklings today so I was getting a bit fed up with it. :p

I beat World of Light. Gods is that Lifelight song awful.
...I thought I was the only one that didn't liked the Ultimate theme that much (the first time I heard it all, it annoyed me, and I couldn't notice when it started to loop), specially not with the vocals. o-o

I'm enjoying world of light overall. But, the one thing I'm not used to yet is the final smash meter. Also, when the opponent's meter is boosted, it can make fights pretty annoying sometimes.

With this many people we could make a team battle lobby if you guys are up to it hahaha. Makes me wish arenas could have more than one battle at a time though, at least we wouldn't have 4 people waiting instead of playing. Arms had this right, how come Smash doesn't.

before starting the match we should make sure all people get to spectate instead of being left out

Courtesy and all that jazz

Yeah, I dunno how it was for Shish, but for me the lag was painful in that match I just played at least I won so you can't say I'm whinging. Probably better for people to not bother with spectating until Nintendo figure out how to make netcode that doesn't suck; the worst part is that spectating shouldn't even really affect the people actually playing, and yet it seems like it does for whatever reason.

also I don't like anything other than 1v1, so if you're going to start doing team battles I'm afraid I'll have to drop out. Don't let that stop you, though.

I, for one, don't think it'll happen. Nintendo always sucked when it comes to online from what I've seen, giving us either the bare minimum needed or, in the case of stuff like Super Mario Party, even less than that, so chances are what we have now is what we'll probably have 5 years later.

Only difference is that they actually try to make Quickplay matchmaking better. That one is heavily appreciated because at least, that ****ty online gives me something close enough to what I want.

I felt a bunch of lag in my battle against DJ, a minimal one against Moy and pretty sure 0 lag with Chu.
Also, damn Chu, that last match with Lucas got me sweating. Gotta love how Shulk can easily survive to 200% lol.

Arenas are a cool concept but they really should work more like lobbies in ArcSys games do.

There's a pretty big list of stuff that needs to be done with arenas:
- allow changing rules without closing the arena and kicking everyone out
- allow more than one battle at a time so you aren't waiting 94853 years between matches
- allow changing characters/stages/music without losing your place in the queue
- spectating shouldn't have any impact on latency for the actual players; this probably means dedicated servers, though, so I dunno if it'll happen

They're a good idea, but it feels like they're a little undercooked since some of these feel like poor oversights.

Literally why?

Man, I just realized this is probably one of the main reasons for laggy quickplay

The very fact that these undercooked ideas would still make the modes actually a lot more fun shows how unpolished the mode is.

It's still a very good idea in concept, but its execution, as well as the execution of online modes in general, makes me think online play was an afterthought; something that's there because it has to.

I think Spectator mode just uses replays from Quickplay? At least that's how it worked in Brawl and Smash 4, so I doubt they'd change it now. So Quickplay lagging probably just means either you or the other person has bad internet. :p
